great video lesson. I like this approach to teach a standard. The chord shapes, the structure of the song in a simle and more complicated version , the look into the harmony separating the chords-harmony from the reference scale and what it is happening when stuff from out of that box shows up. May be a little mention and playing of the melody would be nice too. I am looking forward to more videos like this.
This is gonna be a rough one when I get to it haha. Off the top of your head, what's a few that are great for practicing soloing over chord changes? More of a chord tone based and phrasing practice. All Of Me, All The Things You Are, Autumn Leaves are a few.
It's got quite a bit to it! Similar ones could be: Fly me to the moon, What is this thing called love, How high the moon, There will never be another you, Out of Nowhere
This is fantastic, thank you so much. Wondering how to determine what key a recorded song is in so I can play along with it? My guess is this is a topic requiring a more detailed answer than you can provide here.
@@jazzguitarwithandy I fail miserably trying to hear chords in a song, honestly. I’m a little better at identifying individual notes in a melody or solo, but chords confound me.
Dig into this deep dive into the chords and harmony of 'Don't get around much anymore'. www.patreon.com/jazzguitarwithandy
This one sounds very fun. Can't wait to try it!
It's such a fun tune to play! Enjoy :)

Good question Mike. I try and listen out for the one chord and then find out what chord that is. What do you currently do?

@@mikea75201 it might be a case of doing simple popular songs first
@@jazzguitarwithandy I think you might be right! Thanks for the advice.
Please tell me that’s a Quilter Aviator Cub 50. I am very interested in your thoughts if it is.
It’s actually a Toneblock 202 with block dock 12.
@@jazzguitarwithandy Ah. I am sure that will jazz just fine in deed.
