    'Take the 'A' Train' is the standard of the month on my YT channel and Patreon page. See description for a link to the chords and chart from today. There's also a link to my Patreon page, where you can access a comping study, chord melody and beginners+intermediate solo for this wonderful standard!

    I love this standard! I've gone through it on piano. It's simple and really fun to play! Nice lesson! I'll have a good time playing this on the guitar

      Yes - it sure is a fun one to play. Got to love chord II as a dominant.

    I just read a book called, How To Listen To Jazz. Got it yesterday and finished it today haha. It was good and very informative. I thought, man I need some more guitar friendly jazz songs because I'm not going down this bebop road haha.

      Bebop is certainly a road to go down! How do you rate that book?

      That book should be retitled “How to Listen to Jazz for People Who Want to Play Jazz.” All of the things he recommends listening for are the things players need to focus on too.

    Do you generally play your Gibson acoustically unplugged?

    can you please explain the concept dominant out of key more clearly please Andy.. II7 funtion. can it also function as a dominant leading to g chord in that progression somehow or..

      II7 in the key of C (D7) functions as a dominant to get to G as it's the V chord in G Major. I think the easiest way to look at is as follows in the key of C:
      I7 (C7) = V/IV = C7>F
      II7 (D7) = V/V = D7 >G
      III7 (E7) = V/Vi = E7 > Am
      IV7 =(F7) = V of Bb
      V7 =(G7) = V/I = G7>C
      VI7 = (A7) =V/ii = A7>Dm
      VII7= (B7) = V/iii = B7> Em
      Does that help?
