Have the deck myself, it's kinda slow. But I've won a good bit with it, I mostly make people concede lol. But when it loses it loses BADLY
Yes I have some really bad losses but still fun to pull off. Definitely needs something more

If Gengars ability affected energy attachment from any source this deck would work so much better

There’s too much OP energy attachment mechanics in the format right now. Charizard, future Miraidon come to mind
I saw somebody else who added the Switch Gengar to this deck. If the opponent tries to gust or Snorlax up a dead active, it swaps it back to the bench.
If you’re concerned about Control specifically, the Poltergeist Gengar can ruin their lives.
Nah, against normal Control it works, but against Pidgeot Snorlax they look for Lost City and ko it.

When reading through the booklet the thing recommended unfezant as a supporting Pokémon! With gapejaw bog/damage pump you can get it evolved and attacking as long as you get it energy and then start bouncing two energy to hand as an attack forcing them to reattach.
That could actually work run a couple double turbo energies and use unfeazant as a single prizer to move the energy
I hope people keep experimenting with this. It looks like such a fun concept and i doubt we have the ideal 60 for it.

@@e7193 wdym? It is so early I don't think anyone has the best 60 cards to run for this deck. And this deck will probably fluctuate with the meta.
Gengar EX needs more, it can't be a control deck while requiring energy acceleration. Its a clunky deck and loses to fast paced decks. It loses vs set up decks because it requires so much. Not running 4 rare candies in this list is suicide.@@icephoenix174
i've seen at least 3 different versions of Gengar EX so far so yeah, might need to wait and see how it gets optimized
I paired it with Kingambit and started getting OHKOs
I pulled my crushing hammers and maxed the dark patch. Ditched the skwovet for Roaring Moon EX, the rad Kazam for rad ninja. And added the single prize hangar from PAF for the free swapping.

It really is! Went against someone online that managed to get 3 Gengar ex on the bench and I couldn’t do anything 😢

I made my own gengar list, but it's kinda inconsistent. Then I made a scovillain one and that was awesome lol

Even though they forfeited, the last Giovanni's Charisma in that first game wasn't needed, since Gengar could move that energy to Iron Crown. Love this deck idea.
I made this deck but with a dudunsparce engine and dark patch and it actually works pretty good.

Do you have an import code for the decks you've played?
I use team star grunt in this deck, and it's very disruptive, robbing them of a draw and forcing them to reattach. I've found I like it better than Giovanni's Charisma.
Giovanni is basically the same thing + energy acceleration which Gengar desperately needs

Yeahh
This needs a good one prize attacker. The new pidove/unfeasant synergizes, so does dark lokix.
Play Gengar while you can. Greninja EX is going to be a hard counter and very prevalent soon.
I also recommend a team star grunt as it removes energy from play, and by putting it on top of the deck, kinda forces a semi brick turn

why dont you use the ciphermaniacs codebreaking supporter card so you can search for gastly and haunter to evolve to gengar?
A deck that I think really got better after rotation is gholdengo, now that path is gone and with that new future supporter that lets you stack your deck to draw into them with gholdengo. really fun deck and funny that you can almost always get prime catcher and superieor energy retrieval to win the game.

the spiked helmet tool thing that puts an energy back into hand frok opponent attacks could be helpful, if its not rotated

Ive encountered a gengar ex player in live, unfortunately he lost against my great tusk mill due to disacarding too many useful items in his deck.
He manage to KO my mew ex as a consolation

Also how do you plan on dealing with cards like manaphy that won’t allow you todo damage to benched pokemon?
Manaphy protects damage from attacks so it does nothing against Gengars ability.
Manaphy doesnt matter
Is there anything that counters it? My brother built this deck specifically to beat me. I use dark charizards and he has a card that he puts in place that takes no damage from ex or v cards. The poison is fucking me hard.

Honestly I’m not sure what everyone else is experiencing, this deck single handedly carried me into ultra from great league.

I’ve been trying a gengar deck for many hours now, can’t get it to feel consistent enough.. can’t even play the other fun disruption cards without the deck bricking even harder

Maybe but its useless vs non basic decks thats why league headquarters overall is better
You can also run Master ball, all the non-future/ancient aspects are viable options

Id recommend trying a 1/1 darkrai vstar line since that can cause maximum disruption. Just a thought, and can also be used as a more heavy hitter attacker, sort of.
Or, adding hoopa ex as well since you wont be removing energy if you dont use a hammer build

I was mystified when they say they are putting Enamorus V in the starter decks, wondering what it is good for, Iron Valiant maybe ? Ok, now Enamorus V is maybe good against Gengar ex's Ability 😅

Heck, I made a mew ex deck to replace the fusion strike mew.
There is a bug with great tusk if they have no cards in deck they only mill one learned that the hard way

Gengar EX is pretty good but getting it all set up is such a pain. Played liked 6 or 7 games and only won once 😂😂
its odd to not see anybody playing raging bolt ex in ladder that deck has a really good time against future box and gengar for that matter.

Please be aware before you might try great tusk mill, it's bugged so it only mills 1 card if your deck is empty even if you played an ancient supporter so you don't win if you sada down to zero and they have 3 cards left

you do not have to move the energy cards from their active pokemon if you dont want to. you moved it off of lumineon and i was like "but why"..same for when you kill them..just dont give them free energy.

Btw, I play with hoopa ex late game which is why I think it’s better
started playing this. what in the inconsistency? every match up has been bad. i get stuck with all basics by turn 6 and cant get anything going. bib never comes online, skwovet is just bench space. I am getting heated with how bad this is performing. its too slow, cant play a deck that gets going on turn 20. I have gotten 1 gengar going in 6 games, and it was a waste of a turn. cool concept, deck sucks. only win I had was against another deck that took 10 turns to happen

Why switch and not switch cart?
Because switch cart only switches your active basic Pokemon so he can't switch Bibarel and Gengar with it.

First time playing against gengar i was shockedd when my manaphy got damage but good thing charizard ex gets energy without consequence and ko gengars
Read or memorize cards before u put manaphy or jirachi into play, u might end up wasting a spot in ur bench
I want this deck to work so bad but I feel it's missing too much to push it to the next level. It's fun for sure, but not viable enough to be competitive.
I’ve been playing a siczor ex and altaria ex, basically you use the new siczor as a tank while healing it with altaria heal 20 damage per turn per altaria siczor 70 damage attack prevents 50 hp from next attack pair it with the new metal lab and ridged band and your countering 110 damage which doesn’t let charizard one shot and you get to heal after pretty good imo
I beat this same gengar deck with this siczor deck it was close 1 to 1 prize but I won 😂 love the gengar concept tho very annoying to play against
@blakepeebles2953 I've tried something similar with copperajah radiant tsareena metang ...quite dangerous when it sets up
While fun and meme'y this deck is wildy inconsistent. Meta is faster than ever and if you get hand locked for even 1 turn its pretty much GG. The meta has moved fast and allows for set up disruption. Issue with this deck is it requires a stage 2. Stage 2 mains are inferior unless you're zard EX. Removing the amount of RNG as possible is what makes decks go the distance. I wish Gengar EX was good, but on the surface, your energy acceleration is still to slow compared to other decks.

Tbh ive tried Gengar EX, Inciniroar (however you spell that crap) & Lugia Vstar. Keep losing loads of games without even any missplays. Just end up with a bad starting hand 70% of the time and don't recover. These decks are a joke.
How about Gengar Valiant? Throw in Xatu and Dark Patch, maybe?
that require a lot of set up, and by playing gengar wich is a stage 2 , it will take some slots for candies wich reduce the amount of switch cards that valiant needs

Mill decks should not be in PTCG, they suck, they do the game slow and boring and theres no combat between Pokemon which is the main part of the game, 2 Pokemon against each other, not a Pokemon against your library, this sux
It was very fun watching you play this on stream. I don't know why so many people asked you to play it. It's so mid lol.
It feels like something that should be pretty good, and when you do get a match where everything just comes together it's great and fun (and very annoying for the opponent). It just happens to be fairly inconsistent, and I think has a lot of pretty bad matchups in the current meta.
@@Jobocan. Agreed. Ancient box play a lot of energies, same with Dialga, which mostly plays mons that can all attack. Future Boxes sometimes play Turos against this.
