Unfortunately, the plant that had sat there for almost 50 years, is now gone. Goodbye big American V8 sedans. You will be missed.

I'm not saying goodbye to and of mine, especially my fleet of all four 2003 Panthers including the Marauder. I absolutely love the 03 model year but only the first have with black b pillars and dash clock.

December 2023 was the real end of such cars, or at least possibly. The Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 were the last big American V8 sedans to be produced. The Charger is about to enter its next generation, however, it’s only been rumored so far to be a 2-door coupe with either a twin-turbo I6 or as an EV. There have been some rumors of a 4-door version but that’s yet to be officially confirmed and as for a V8, there has been no official announcement of it but fans are demanding one due to it being a muscle car and we’ll have to wait and see what they do. Let’s hope that the next-gen Charger will have a 4-door version and a V8. Even if not at the beginning, let’s hope they will be added later. Long live big American V8 sedans!
UPDATE: So far, no V8 or even RWD has been announced, only EV or I6 and AWD. However, the demand remains incredibly high so let’s see if Dodge will listen to their furious fans. Hope to see you again, traditional American sedans!
NEW UPDATE: Ford has officially announced the possibility of a 4-door Mustang. It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but if it ever enters production, it’ll most likely be full-size, judging by the current Mustang’s dimensions and be RWD-only with EcoBoost I4 and Coyote V8 engine options, just like the regular Mustang. Furthermore, Ford is committed to keeping the Mustang and its V8 in production forever and will never stop fighting with the government to keep it. I thought American full-size RWD V8 sedans were dead forever since the Charger and 300’s discontinuation, but they may come back after all. Let’s see if this really happens. Looking forward!
FURTHER UPDATE: Ford has reportedly shown dealers a 4-door sedan Mustang called the Mach-4 but no cameras were allowed there so only attendees can share what they saw there. It’s expected to be a proper 3-box sedan with a V8 and RWD. It just has to be full-size to match classic American sedans. Let’s hope this will become a reality to finally fill this void!

I’ve spent pretty much my entire career in a Crown Vic. I have one of the last Crown Vic’s left in our fleet. I gave up a brand new Explorer for a 99k mile Crown Vic and I’m the only one that drives it. I affectionately named it Boba Fett cause its all scratched, faded, and beat up. I love the Panther so much that I bought a Grand Marquis and modded it with Bullitt wheels, exhaust, Marauder lights.

Hey thank you for making this video man the Panther deserves more credit and recognition than it receives I own 2 a 99 Mercury Grand Marquis with 83,000 original miles single owner and a 07 Lincoln Town Car Designer Edition single owner with 56,000 original miles. These were the the most reliable American car you could buy throughout the 90s and 2000s and for a V-8 they get great gas mileage and are so spacious and comfortable and you can get them for almost nothing anymore...

I live in the UK so getting any of these cars is a challenge. I hope to one day own an NYPD Ford Crown Victoria P71. I wanna take it to car shows and use it for special events. That can't happen though for at least another 5 years because of my age and and the way car insurance works over here.

I know I am late for this video but I have a 2011 Lincoln Town Car (the last year of the Town Car and overall all other Panther Platform cars.) My father had a 2001 Town Car Cartier L and I loved it. Panther Platform has a speical place in my heart as a Ford fan ❤

No comment is ever too late. It is great to hear that 12 years after the last Panther rolled off the line, there's still a lot of people sharing stories about their Panther cars today.

@@madasafish2010 I sometimes still even see other Panther Platform cars still on the road after being discontinued for 12 years.
I'm thankful for the folks who used to work at Wixom Assembly Plant in Michigan, USA, where my father's old '01 Town Car was built and at St. Thomas Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada for building my '11 Town Car. Too bad both plants are no longer running and have been demolished years ago.

As a long time fan and an owner of a 2011 Crown Vic Police Interceptor I can say without a single doubt in my mind that is THEE BEST car that not only I have ever owned but it is the best automobile anybody can ever buy!😊❤️🥰

I have a 2002 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, former Cincinnati Ohio Sherif car, when i bought it, it was 16 years old, had 257 K miles on it, and was rusted through in several place, ive patched it up, and fixed it, despite the age, and miles and rust, I took it to the drag strip, i took it to autocross, i took it on track days, and i took it offroad, dozens and dozens and dozens of times, it sees redline every single day, its been overheated 4 times, and yet it still works just as good as the day I bought it, truely indestructible, i plan on keeping this car until the day I die, if the engine quits, who cares? i've got a bridgeport mill, a lathe, and some steel, i can fix her up, if the tranny grenades, who cares? ill swap in a manual. if the frame rusts away to dust, i've got myself some stainless steel scrap, a pipe bender, and a welder, i can fab something. no matter what, you can rest easy at night, knowing, that somewhere out there, in the middle of nowhere in Ohio, someone is keeping an 02' CVPI up and running, at all costs.

I wish the long wheel base version had been more widely available, than say just on taxis and some Town Cars. The extra 6 inches rear legroom would be great. Nicely edited, by the way.

  • @carlenger9707
    @carlenger9707 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I love these damn things, I could go on and on about how much I love mine. I have an '11 Grand Marquis from August of 2010, which is, of course, one of the last ones they ever made. I'm hoping I can purchase one of each, get a Crown Vic and a Town Car to complete the collection. It's not like it'll drain my bank account.
As they say, legends never die. And neither do these cars :) If there's one near you, (which I'm sure there will be) buy it, buy it, buy it.

You really should. Aside from being built on the same platform; the Ford Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Car and Mercury Grand Marquis are icons in their own unique ways: the Ford Crown Victoria has put away a dizzying number of criminals (as a police car) as well as gotten dozens of people to their destinations in extreme comfort (as a taxi cab), the Lincoln Town Car has driven around many celebrities and other high-profile figures, the Mercury Grand Marquis has long been one of the top vehicles of choice for a wide range of audiences, and the Mercury Marauder proved that the Mercury division of Ford was not just for the elderly. Plus; no other car has been capable of striking fear into the hearts of motorists like these.

A big thanks to those still coming here today to watch this. The spirit of the Panther Platform will never die, regardless of how many cars stop production or how many plants Ford close. I have a 2011 p7b, recently bought. Went from a 2014 Mercedes money pit ( routine maintenance) to this. Love it. A car I can understand and on which I can fix do many things myself. Previously owned in my twenties an ex-police 1981 LTD 302 2 barrel. Not much guts but a firm ride and nice looking.

The sixth generation 1980 (Mark VI) Lincoln Continental was a Panther Platform vehicle. Built on the same chassis bearing the same V8 that powered the sister Panther cars. Granted, some of the images in the video are incorrect as they show the later Continental which was shared with the Taurus/Sable, but the Continental was a Panther.

The movie and television industries bought up quite a few used ones, still using them for current releases, eg the police procedural series “Bosch”. Out of service in reality, nothing says “police” in those media like a Crown Vic, same as reel to reel tape recorders in an unmarked van said “surveillance “ on TV , though passé for a couple decades at least.

My only conclusion for why these fools stop making the most reliable American Sedan ever built is because they were just simply that reliable. Ford, Lincoln, Mercury wasn't making no money other than for parts needed. That's just how long they lasted.

    • @christianchavez385

Antowne Mercer My dad told me that “for a car, in order for it to stay on the market people need to buy it and it should be a balance of quality, if it’s too good people won’t need to buy a new one. If the quality is bad then there may be lawsuits and the brand will be damaged as a result” the Crown Victoria is a good example of something that is excellent in reliability, durability, and longevity (I mean they can serve as police interceptors and taxi cabs in the same lifespan!). Ford made such a great car, all these comments and all the positivity about the panther family in general proves that the community for these cars is strong and I am very happy to see that. Long live the panther family!!
