- Race 1 of Zwift Academy 2024 on Ven Top is designed in a way that makes me think it has a slightly different purpose than advertised!

My name is Adam, I am 35 years old and I am a former marathon runner who shifted his focus on ZWIFT CYCLING.
Road to A is a channel focused on INDOOR ZWIFT RACING with the ultimate goal of reaching the A+ CATEGORY. Is it progression realistic? Maybe. I'll need to train a lot and lose a lot of weight, too. However, I believe the BIGGEST LIMITATIONS riders (and athletes in general) have are those they put on themselves and this channel is my way to prove that idea. If you feel like you are riding (or living) BENEATH YOUR POTENTIAL, you need to tag along! The destination is clear but the journey won't be easy.
Currently I am racing in B CATEGORY.
SUBSCRIBE because it makes me happy :) : / @roadtoa
As for my ZWIFT SETUP - I am riding on a ZWIFT HUB ONE indoor trainer. Steering can give you pretty substantial advantage during the racing and for that I am using the ZWIFT PLAY controllers. I use these for virtual shifting as well and to make sure I'll be covered if they run out of battery or generally stopped working, I've got the ZWIFT CLICK as well. I am running my Zwift in 4K and using the ULTRA settings.

Thank you for your support, as always, these are just extra zing on the channel, all the videos will always stay free for everyone!
Great effort. If you can sprint at the end you can do even better on average 👍 🙇♂️
@@benjapolcycling yeah, I'd say I could have done maybe 5W more on average. But it is a loooong time since I've done a formal TT/FTP test so I really wasn't sure how to pace it.
Again, glad I watched this before participating this AM, meaning I didnt even try and stick with the front group.
Managed just about the same at you lol 3.7 w/kg at 5.2 miles. BRUTAL 😅
Good job! Yep, this was a trap!
You did an incredible job keeping a smooth power throughout the whole effort! Your NP must have been nearly identical to your AVG PWR
Pretty close yea;). Though I feel I could have pushed a little more.
@@RoadtoA yeah I bet not! We always feel like we have a bit more to squeeze out after the pain and suffering has dissipated, but based on your final sprint I think you have absolutely everything you had 💪🏻👌🏻🧢
@@sigfreed11 thanks!😊
Awesome effort! All Zwift Academy races and workouts seem to be hidden tests this year.
They are.
But during the workouts it was always like that. Sneaking them in the races is just their way to sugarcoat the more difficult ones, imo. :-)
@@RoadtoA absolutely, an FTP test disguised as a race makes it a lot more fun
@@HenkdenBakker yup!
Great job!
On that 13% my W Core started to slip at 39x34 and ~40 rpm.
@@n1chbuuhm Oh wow. I believe thid even had 100% trainer difficulty forced so that might have been the cause.
Well done your power output was really great and steady for the 30 minutes duration! Do you know xurrent FTP? It might be 272 now? Considering it was a 30 minutes long duration and not the typical 20 minutes FTP test? Btw outstanding content on this channel. I like it a lot even though I dont do Zwift races only spinning on my yeah spin bike indoor. I like to see other suffers as I feel it when I ride myself. Regards Allan
Thank you very much! If you ever started Zwifting, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need any help with the setup.
My FTP is a little lower, around 260 w. (Confirmed by other methods, too.)
Well I love the spin community so probably not but who knows maybe one day! I dont have a bike and swift setup. But if I one day want to swift you are the first one to ask for advice Adam!!
@@allanschoy2685 that's awesome to hear! Hopefully you'll enjoy my videos in the meantime!
Well done Adam...
Thank you, was pretty happy with this!
I don t understand.
30 minute steady max effort is a fantastic data point for testing your power profile. It is quite difficult mentally though so it is usually not done very much.
Zwift has created this "race" to give you impression you are racing others when, in reality, you are just performing this unpopular test/time trial (since it is all into steep uphill, there's virtually no draft effect so the other riders are only "extras"). Clever.
Wait. You're on a real bicycle. Doing real work, pedaling, in a video game? I love video games but this strikes me as pretty damn absurd. To each their own. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've got outside riding videos too if that's your thing ;) both riding outside and indoors has its charm

First!
@@poupashelderbarbosa 🥳 unlike me in the race 😂
@@RoadtoA as a newbie to cycling myself with a low cat D racing score, it's really admirable to watch your performances ;) keep it going
@@poupashelderbarbosa well aren't you sweet! Thank you!
