@Hayder Al-Mohammad dunno why you are reading Bellew as being anti Fury. Fact is Usyk is more accomplished than Fury. Usyk was undisputed at cruiserweight and won the WBSS. He cleaned out that division. He has just moved up to heavyweight and become unified champion in his 3rd fight against a bigger man. Fury has never been undisputed and is about make his first ever defence of a world title. Plus Fury's resumé is poor outside his fights with Klitchko and Wilder.

AJ didn't beat Ruiz the second time only because he changed his mentality and prepared better but also because Ruiz failed to prepare better himself. Usyk isn't that kind of guy. • @ivanjulian2532
      @ivanjulian2532 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

Agreed. There's no small amount of conjecture among casual fans that the person who can improve for the rematch is AJ, and only AJ. The reality is Oleksandr Usyk took a lot away from the first fight too. If you're a boxing connoissuer the rematch looks to be a ripper. Something else I liked about the first fight was the courtesy and respect between the opponents. 70,000 people showed up for a bout where the combatants shook hands at the official weigh in.

About the pawing with Usyk's lead hand, it was more than blocking AJ's line of sight. AJ has the tendency to block his opponent's jab by pawing at itwith his left, in essence stopping its delivery. Hence the continuous feints from Usyk, until AJ extended his left and lost his own jab. Oops here comes Usyk left down the middle.

Usyk has one punch knockout power, he just lives by a different style and discipline which got him to where he is today.
7 out of 8 hardest belts in boxing while undefeated after an Olympic gold and two division unifications.
One punch knock out Usyk might get caught going for a knockout while technical boxer Usyk does not leave it up to chance and wins on pure technique that cannot be matched by anyone at CW and HW.
By putting in a lot of early work as an amateur to learn the skills he simply now has to maintain his conditioning while his opponents have to work on skills to adapt to new style of opponents. Psychologically he has the edge on all of them including Fury and Tyson and his uncle both alluded to that.

I literally heard him on the night tell AJ in the corner "just stick behind your jab, box smart and let him come to you" in the 9th round when he's obviously down on the cards. Rob is a good trainer but he's notorious for having a lack of urgency to his fighters when they are behind on the cards.

I take absolutely nothing away from Usyk because he was phenomenal on the night and tbh I favor him in the rematch even if Joshua comes with the right tactics this time. Re: 9:13. It is guard control as well. Vasya (Lomachenko) does it too. If you can paw down, or bat away, their lead hand: they cannot block with it. Time it with when you want to get inside - sets up so much to land flush, that would otherwise hit the left glove as they pulled it back in a reflex reaction to your coming forward.
It is one of the best things the school of Papachenko develops. Control your opponent's guard: then the fight is yours to dictate.
Since you are nullifying their lead, you have taken away the jab that should set up their offence. And since you simultaneously control their ability to effectively block, you set up your own offence almost at will.

Perfect analysis about the importance of eliminating the jab. The other issue AJ never utilized his jab properly from the start which made Usyk’s ability to eliminate it that much easier. He tried to paw with it and use it as a deterrent and Usyk being the technician he is negated it with no effort at all. AJ gave him very little to think about or be concerned with on the nite due to a shitty gameplan and even worse tactics

For what its worth, I think Tony's a terrific fighter! I'm not active anymore but I still workout at the gym and help out with some of the kids. Being a southpaw the regular instructors are always asking me to help out. Not too long ago I lived near the Mexican border and I was active there, and I was invited to a lot of Mexican boxing gyms again to help out since there weren't that many southpaws around. Man the stories I could tell you lol, but we'll save those for another day. Whenever I felt the fighter I was up against was quite a bit better than me, I concentrated my workouts on 3 things, conditioning, jabs, and footwork. They got me out of jams countless number of times and I still recommend that to people today..

I don't know *that* much about Bellew, but I do recall him stating a few years ago that he would not be able to compete with certain boxers due to their immense size and strength ( AJ may have been one of them ? ) it struck me as unusual as normally a boxer will say he could be beat any other boxer with his hand tied behind his back / blindfolded/ in a straightjacket etc etc . As Dirty Harry Callahan once said .... " A man has to know his limitations...")

I wasn’t shocked at all by Usyk i knew for years just how good he was since his early amateur days. I knew he’d be world champion he’s absolutely unreal.
He’s too good for Joshua and he’ll beat him again trust me.
People say size and strength is a problem for Usyk but it wasn’t against Joshua.
It just wasn’t a problem at all. Joshua was actually trying to force the fight on numerous occasions it was just the ring IQ and footwork of Usyk, the lateral movement and his anticipation of the punches what made the fight routine for him, he’s too smart and too clever.
I know for a fact he’d get to Fury aswell if they get it on.
    Too good.
