Me too, and I don't know why either because I was so opposite with my skating- into mellow transitions and small ledges and stuff, while Geoff is obviously all rugged gnarly shit that would scare the hell out of me, but something about him was so cool.
Considering how sick he is he's always been humble.Saved me from standing on a rattle snake once on a quest to spot a mountain lion.A very real skateboarder. One of the best.
Tough question/ issue that plagues every skateboarder worth their salt. What does skateboarding look like at 40+….50, 50+. He’s gained a lot of wisdom and from this vantage point, you’ve always having been crushing hammers. Seems to me every thing you do, you do well. Thanks for all of the blood shed. It never goes unnoticed. I don’t hunt, but would love to book a guided hunt for bighorn sheep. Or a no kill pursuit of mountain lions.
I love this because he hasn’t been noticed 30 years ago unless you actually skateboarded. I’ve skated since 2000 and my body isn’t the same but I try to trick it to thinking I can still do these things like jumping off buildings. lol but the drive is real and there’s no giving up until your body literally won’t.
Is there anyone else at 46/47 years old skating like Rowley? I know Tony Hawk, Danny Way, Burnquist, Rune Glifberg and others are still tearing up on Vert and Transition but I struggle to think of too many doing insane Street Skating in their mid-late 40's other than Geoff.
@@thrashcave666 I am not having Jamie Thomas, sorry. Not that the fact he still skates in his late 40s isn’t sick, but he isn’t skating full tilt. He basically skates flatground and a few ledges and stuff, which is epic, don’t get me wrong, but it just isn’t the same as Rowley skating huge stuff at Mach 2 and taking big slams as if he were half his age. Reynolds is a good shout though. I still say not like Rowley but he never really was. He still skates some pretty huge gaps though from what I’ve seen. But, you know, “opinions” … who needs them?
@@thrashcave666 I'm not sure what your point is, I know how old Jamie Thomas is and he has been skating similarly throughout his 40s. I'm also not sure what your objection to me saying "he's sick" is? You can argue that him not going full throttle in his later years has prolonged his skating and that's fine, but it isn't comparable to how Rowley is approaching skating at 46/47, it just isn't. I think even Jamie would agree ... and Jamie has nothing to prove by the way, he doesn't need to throw himself down crazy spots, nor does Rowley though, they've both got more than enough credit in the bank, which is partly why it is so mental to see Rowley put himself through what he does at his age
@@matthewwalker5430 I didn't see anything amazing in Rowley's skating, as it was at the beginning of his career. actually, he has been riding very calmly for a long time. What can not be said about the same Reynolds, for example, all the same crazy frontflips. I apologize for my English, I wrote on the translator)
The “ FreeDome” Skateboard Shape design, was Perfect. The Feel of the Nose and Tail felt great riding, and doing tricks. Hopefully it comes back to his new board sponsor or Company. ✌️ ❤
Back at Slam City Jam 1998 Geoff was sitting down in a chair and i asked him to watch my board while i went into the crowd to try and catch one of the ones they were throwing out. I never caught one, and when i went back my board was gone. Geoff did NOT watch it. 😢 Luckily my good friend had managed to catch 2 boards and he gave one of them to me cause he could relate. Thanks Jared, i'll never forget
Out of kindness you should take down this post. There was alot happening at the contest and you don't know what circumstances happened. I know his team mate Arto got knocked out at that contest while skating.
The thing about skateboarding thats so inspiring is its 95% failing. So you learn from every problem and almost injure yourself in the process. The only comparable thing i can think of is standup comedy where you just learn what not to do.
Try purple rice or potatoes real ginger beer works for me I'm 39 I just snapped my ankle bad like dway triple flip bad and I'm back better than ever skate everyday all day

The GONZ is mine . But REALLY ..they are all the best in my opinion because there was really nobody before them.
They are all my favorites.
Between him and Andrew Reynolds for me
💯
Geoff was my favorite skater when I was younger. Not sure why but he was the guy I chose. Skated Flip for years. I’ll always appreciate this man

Interesting to hear him talk about grit. Rowley is the embodiment of grit, we can all learn a lot from him no matter what we’re doing in life.

This dude has taken some of the hardest slams I have ever seen, and he will get up and immediately try again. Like a cat or something.

Way to like, give props to the guy whose video we are watching, weirdo..
I'm glad he didn't watch your board lol

I hope vans re-release the Rowley XLT. Not the Collab one.
I get the same feeling searching online for Geoff Rowley Vans. I just can't get a size 12 in your models.

If you're a young skater and don't know Geoff Rowley, you need to. The insanity of skateboarding in 2023 has his grubby fingerprints all over it.
I have him down as the goat. Biggest influence on my style growing up for sure.
