I wish I could go completely plastic-free, but it's a privilege to do so. My meds come in plastic. My dentures and wheelchair are mostly plastic. I'm disabled and can't cook from scratch. I'm on disability and plastic-free is expensive. I think I'll try to do better, though...just do what I can. We need to focus on corporations, though, because they are the cause of this.

i am in the same 'boat;, erm, wheelchair? well, wheeled walker anyway. old, disabled on several speciality 'diets' for my health. recently told i have 'plastic poisoning' from all the micro and nano plastics i unknowingly ingested all my life. we are at the mercy of big business, big pharma, and the government! and THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE, THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR!! i am from the 60s, and did a LOT of protesting, not seeing nearly enough change over my lifetime. and now here i am. here we are. i cant afford to shop 'better', dont know how to dispose of 'better'. i'm really trying to avoid plastic in my food, and it's SO DEPRESSING. it's in EVERYTHING. i hate what humans have done to themselves, and hate that i am so limited in change. wish us LUCK

I haven't tried anything this extreme but I try to avoid plastic as much as possible. Here's some thoughts:
    1. You have to give up takeout, prepared food, and most coffee shops. So you need to cook all the time. If you want to avoid plastic you need to learn to cook and to enjoy doing it. I find that it helps a lot to spend time learning about how disgusting the preservatives and ingredients in most takeout are, after that, I can't stomach the idea of eating the stuff anymore, never even think about missing it.
    2. Your clothes, mattress, blankets, and shoes are probably all plastic-infused unless you are really careful about reading labels. This is one of the biggest causes of microplastics, and it's a huge pain to avoid. Remember elastic counts.
    3. Toilet paper and paper towels contain BPA. This is actually a pretty big concern. You'll probably need a bidet to avoid them, but they're made of plastic... I haven't figured this one out yet.
    4. Accept that you cannot address the problems of electronics and cars. There are no alternatives and you cannot DIY. Just try to buy good stuff that will last a long time. Every time you buy a new appliance, it at least comes with a cord...

Thank you for sharing. Do you think it would be possible to reach all those plastic free resources without a car? I moved to NYC recently, thinking of how efficient at sharing resources that cities are, and have had such a tough time finding bulk stores.
Also just wanted to add that those passionate kids made my whole year, so so sweet.

The best, easiest and cheapest thing to do is use up what you already have and replace with better alternatives. Can food so it doesn't go to waste, it's shelf stable and you control what's in it

Definitely brings awareness about plastic waste…every bit we do helps but also be realistic as some of the people are still wearing plastic based glasses/sunglasses and still have plastic based appliances in our home. So for those who watch and get discouraged focus on food plastic wastes and how what you eat comes in contact with.

We have been doing this for going on three years. It gets easer as time go by. You also learn how to make killer bread. Loved this film. I thought it was great how they started looking at what other people had in their carts. I have a mental break down every time I go to a food mart. I look at what they buy and say to myself and some times to them why are you doing this. I can't tell you how many times I have seen some one put a single potato or onion into a little green plastic bag.
These things have been growing under ground for months. Do these people really think that the veg will not make it home in 20 minutes?

Kudos to Brandon for leaving her. This is not about plastics but about how much more moral she is than the rest of us and how she is being victimized by the world. And if you don't believe that, how about her making that big deal on the dirt/compost first asking for someone to help her and then going on trying to make them change their process. Why didn't she just load up her buckets on her own without the drama and they would have been more apt to go along with her wishes. Instead, she made a big production in person then made a phone call to make an even bigger production which included crying like a toddler and counting it as a victory which if anything made it more likely that the people she had been in contact with are less likely to be converted. She is probably a vegan.
No matter how many times Greta Thornburg shouts how dare you at everyone when it comes to herself it's a different story.A journalist was following her and when she stopped and left her car he went to her car and took pictures of inside her car which showed an abundance of single serve chip bags, multiple fast food wrappers, plastic fast food cups and water and other processed drink bottles as well as other debris demonstrating that she doesn't apply her self righteousness to her self and she is lazy.
Would love to be able to look through her home today to see if she is still crying and carrying on to make others miserable having to put up with her childish behavior or if she has actually converted anyone.
And one funny thing is that one of her "friends" that took part in this production has a few years down the road has put out a TH-cam video declaring the plastic free movement is a scam.

Some people that I don't like is a live dog poop in your yard And I think it's disrespectful when people walk around and have their dogs pooping people's yards When they can take the dog to a park to go to the bathroom. Or have them do it in their own yard Trying a dog to sit on a toilet There is people that do put their cats on the toilet and they go to the bathroom 😊
