      Thanks David. Hopefully those blue skies and bright machines brought a taste of the summer to you during this awful weather we’re having now! Cheers, David.

      And very light steering! Ah happy days, I remember almost every farm in the late 70s/ early 80s in my area using a 2wd and normally a Twose buckrake to fill the pit all those years back! Cheers, Dave.

    I do lawn care in Utah County, Utah. I haul grass and leaves to a farmer who cooks it with hay and feeds it to cows. It saves me daily dump fees, and him the costs of hay.

      That sounds great Joseph,recycling and cutting both dump and feed costs at the same time. Great to hear how things are done in the States, thanks for watching how things are done in the UK. Great comment, cheers David.

    Great video some great tractors and buckrakes in action mind you a loading shovel is quicker

    • @davidwinthrop7077
      @davidwinthrop7077  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Paul, pleased you enjoyed it. Yes there’s probably no two outfits the same in the area and quite correct that a loading shovel especially with a wide fork will certainly be quicker. Apart from one or two contractors who operate them I can’t think of any farm owned shovels in the area. Would like to catch up with a couple and film them next season if I get the opportunity. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Always appreciated, cheers Dave.

    Great video David, tho it’s very uncommon to see those working in Ireland , the republic at least , we have mostly all loading shovels such as Volvo 120s and job 416 even 20 years ago it was old Volvo l70 and O&k loaders , the buckrakes died a death in Ireland as the loaders are a lot more useful for keeping the back and sides of a pit tidy , however many of your farmers have pits in side so perhaps have no need for loaders

    • @davidwinthrop7077
      @davidwinthrop7077  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah now that’s interesting as over here in Cumbria it’s exactly the opposite. There’s one or two loading shovels working the clamps along with plenty of Loadall type machines but the vast majority of pits are still filled with tractor and buckrake. I definitely see the logic in the loading shovel system especially in big scale operations and as you say their weight and capacity is definitely a bonus when it comes to compacting the whole clamp. Yes many indoor pits in my area, some getting on in years so a buckrake system does have it’s advantages working inside. Really great comment, thanks for taking the time. I love to hear about how farming operations differ in different parts of the Isles and pleased you enjoyed the video. Regards, David

    • @265justy
      @265justy ปีที่แล้ว

      Last tractor I see on a buckrake was a Ford 7610 4wd in 1989.....!!😂
      To be honest even a lot off the dairy farmers here that cut their own silage would borrow a neighbours shovel or may still have their own smaller shovel like a JCB 412 or 414 which would be common on lots off dairy holdings. Tractors on the pit are history here.. But every country has different methods I guess.
