    Although performing regular maintenance and putting fresh top ends in your Banshee can extend it's life, if you own your machine for any length of time, you'll probably need to tear into the bottom end at some point. Knowing how to do so yourself will help you get more familiar with your machine, as well as save you a lot of time and money over taking it to a shop. So in this video, we show the final assembly process on our 1993 Yamaha Banshee bottom end rebuild.

    The best part of a banshee! Cases split top to bottom and you can do them in about 30 mins!! Man I’m going to buy another banshee again. Literally looking at some now. Thanks Rocky Mountain and I mean that in a good way!

    The reason I brought it up is I just bought a banshee because I wanted to fool around with my son and his friends for myself. I bought one for myself and the guy I bought it from sold to me cheap but I realize when I got there that he was a flyby KNIGHT mechanic so I bought a whole rebuild kit to rebuild the bike and then I was watching your video to put it back together and was following directions and when you said I’m putting on the clutch basket you did that and then said oh you have to put on a thick washer, then the sleeve, then the clutch basket, but you were already done I was done also and that’s when I realized that this dude that was a real piece of work that I bought the bike from. He must’ve lost the washers because I just disassembled it. There was no washer behind the clutch basket. There was no washer in front of the clutch basket. All there was was the retaining clip, but I almost put it back together like that.

    And sorry, but there’s a lot of people out there that go off of image so when I was following your lead, I’m a mechanic on hot rods on cars I was following your lead. I already had the basket everything installed locknut on everything and then realized when I replayed the double check that you didn’t show them putting the washer on

    Oh, and by the way, what is the inside of the conical washer? How are they supposed to know what’s the differences?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Conical washers have one concave side and one convex side. Place these washers so that the raised center part is raised (concave side is down). So that when you tighten the bolt, the washer gets flattened.

    Hello, what kind of Vaseline do you use for the seals you put in the engine? I would also like to ask what glue you use to secure the screws to the engine. I bought a Loctite 243. Can I use it? Thank you for answer.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used either the Bel-Ray Waterproof Grease ( www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/bel-ray-water-proof-grease-p ) or Maxima High Temp Waterproof Grease ( www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/maxima-hi-temp-waterproof-grease-p ) for the engine seals. Your Loctite 243 is a great medium strength threadlocker and will work for the majority of the bolts that call for threadlocker, except for ones that require red/high strength.

    I see that folks only put the half circlip on the bottom when installing the crankshaft. Is that all that goes in there? Is there another half for the top case??

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does seem a little weird but yes, all that's needed is the retaining clip that goes in the bottom half of the case.
      Thanks for watching!

Cause In getting real nice freeplay//// spin with all my trans and crank but I’m not getting all my gears?? Do u have an idea of what I might be able to do. Cause the shifting mechanism seems to be ok minus that! Thank you for your time!!! And any rude and smartass comments u just need to get a life 👍🏼!!! Thank you to the rest 🤓

    Hi,
    Will yamabond 6B work for case?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the 6B but it is more designed for exhaust applications. Yamabond 4 is what is usually recommended by Yamaha for use on cases.

    How much $ are we talking about to rebuild the engine?

    • @OGKILLa9365
      @OGKILLa9365 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you use Chinese crap they sell on eBay Maybe like $600. If you use high quality parts. For a crank you're looking at like $400-$450. Wiseco piston kit $200-$250, Cometic gaskets and seals $80, if your cylinders need to be rebored around $200. So like about $1000-$1200 for a stock reliable build.

    Hello all right when you were doing the clutch basket you say OK we’re putting on a Henson clutch basket blah blah blah whatever it is but this is supposed to be a do it yourself video you stick the clutch basket on and then after you’re done tell someone oh you have to put on a thick washer before that they have no clue what it looks like and then you stick the basket on and say, followed by another thick washer and a locknutif someone was going off of only visual aspect, they would’ve never put the washer behind that clutch basket

    And please don’t think I’m being a jerk I’m not being a jerk I’m just stating facts because my son and his friend build these things and I’ve been through this with them multiple times where they watch the TH-cam video missed something because it wasn’t clear and $5000 went down the drain
