September 2014, I was immediately diagnosed with Progressive Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis. I lost 100% feeling in my lower extremities & 80% feeling in both arms. @@tammiea8552 have you done the MRIs with contrast. It sucks but that was my red flag an then every 6 months till it calmed down. I got on a scary med. It has killed people with heart conditions an hi I have 2 lol but it was a gamble I am willing to take, cause the hell I was in. Pins an needles numb from toes all the way up to my neck at one point. The shots didnt do crap for me. Tried 3 different ones. I'm happy with just numb legs in a wheelchair with some vision problems. Get a MRI with contrast of your brain.

What about those that don't have lesions in the brain? According to the MS Society, MS can happen without lesions in the brain. Every video I've seen only talks about lesions. I'd like to see a video that talks about MS in people that DON'T have lesions in the brain.
I keep reading that MS is not fatal. That said, just in August of this year a close friend and coworker died in her sleep. It took until just afew weeks ago for the final coroners report and toxicology tests to come out and the primary cause of death listed was Multiple Sclerosis. She did not fall, did not have pneumonia or any of the other things I have seen listed as possibilities when someone actually dies from MS. She died in her sleep and her husband only realized something was wrong when she would not get up that morning and he turned her over and her lips were blue. The only thing that I do know for certain is that she never ever had treatment or took medication for her MS and I assume she likely had it for years. Just don't understand what actually physically took place within her body that killed her as relates to MS and I have yet to read anywhere that describes anyone dying from it other than from ancillary causes. Something about her MS very definitely caused her death but what(?)
It’s impossible to know exactly what happened without seeing the results from the coroner. However, I believe it is extremely rare for MS to be the primary cause of death. The only thing I can think of, is interference with the nerve messages to her heart caused her to have heart failure, but I have only ever read about that in one piece of literature in all my (rather limited) research. I have MS, and am in need of treatment right now, but the holiday period means I have to wait until January. My MS nurse assured me it was completely safe, as sudden death from MS is just something that’s not really seen. But of course, anything is possible. I am very sorry for the loss of your friend. I lost my father suddenly, and it’s hard when you want answers, but things don’t seem to add up.I wish you lots of strength and comfort at this time, as I know the first Christmas without someone is difficult. Now I have again kortikoides 500mg one time every month.Sorry for my English. Every person is different. Now I eat by Swank and make exercises.
Can you please explain the pathophysiology of S PMS and what the difference going on in the body? Basically, why do people progress despite having no new lesions?
Just had an MRI with these results: There are multiple areas of T2 signal in the white matter of both cerebral hemispheres. Some of the T2 lesions are perpendicular to the lateral ventricles within the periventricular white matter and distribution suggestive of demyelinating disease of multiple sclerosis. But, the doctor says she's not convinced that it's MS. I've had ever blood test in the world. Normal nerve and EPG results. Having Evoked potential test done next. What else, besides a spinal tap can be done?

I have the Secondary Progressive, I am 57 and had since 1988. Living is good, but Fatigue and Heat sensitity, and all the other crap that chipped away my brain.
Can anyone share if they had similar experiences? I don’t feel an ant crawling and a fly sitting on my legs, I now realized that I don’t feel a fly sitting on my arms either. Gluten makes me twitch, gives me chills and joint pains along with double and blurry visions, I get a feeling of vibration from the bottom of my feet to upwards in my legs esp during summer months. Sugar is lethal, gives me gut anxiety and dairy gives heartburn and chills. I do yoga everyday, the days I stop and resume I have to start from 0. Has anyone experienced? As I’m typing away, I don’t feel the discomfort from the running heater, it’s only 5 inches away from me. I don’t feel the burn at all. I only feel some heat. Heater had been running for over 10 mins.

This isn't totally accurate as the newer models for MS progression from the International Advisory Committee on Clinical Trials of MS now have Clinically Isolated Syndrome as the precursor to all other MS stages along with no longer acknowledging progressive relapse as a stage. The reason for this is under the old criteria, doctors waited until someone had another event with more clinical findings and more disability. The newer criteria include utilizing MRI with gadolinium (a contrast agent) to help make a diagnosis sooner and to recognize changes in established MS so that treatment changes can be considered.

I'm 48 and a have thought I've had MS for years but was given the fibromyalgia diagnosis instead. Now I'm experiencing every symptom of ms.

I've recently been diagnosed with Rapid Secondary Progressive non-remitting MS.... Skipped the Relapsing/Remitting stage for some reason.
I highly recommend looking into low dose naltrexone. LDN. Talk with your Dr about it since it increases quality of life for MS

I was diagnosed at 22 after 3 hospital visits and treatments for headaches with RRMS. I've taken a no med route and rely on topical cbd oil products.
How did it go?...recently diagnosed and sceptical abt the treatment...
What happens to the other 35-49% of RR MSers? They keep having relapses until they die?
