Watching from SW Oklahoma. I raised orchids when I lived in Miami, Florida, 1970 to 1981. But it isn't as easy in Oklahoma where the humidity can vary from14% to 50% most of the year. Occasionally, after a rain, it might go up to 95% for a couple days but it goes back quickly! That adds another challenge to the mix!
Also temperature can be as low as below zero F in the winter to 110 ° F in the summer!
Hello! 😊 I understand that taking care of orchids in conditions like those in Oklahoma can be quite challenging. With the humidity and temperature changes, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Humidity: You could use a humidifier or place your orchid pots on a pebble tray with water to maintain moisture during dry spells.
Temperature: Make sure your orchids are not exposed to drastic temperature changes, especially when the temperature fluctuates rapidly. Place them in a spot with indirect light and avoid direct exposure to windows or heat sources.
Watering: When humidity is low, you might need to water your orchids more frequently, but make sure not to overwater them to prevent root rot.
Although the weather in Oklahoma can be challenging, with a bit of patience and care, you can still nurture healthy orchids. Wishing you success, and I hope these tips help! 🌺
