Great review. A friend bought one of these some years back. I had great pleasure in hanging it on him for spending so much money and said I could get a similar pit for less and do the same job. Well several years later all of my pits have died (rusted, melted etc) and his is still going strong. He does like to remind me about he who laughs last....
Thanks! Yeah it is expensive but very well made, mine is still like new despite some heavy use. I bumped into a chap a while ago who had bought one and his motto was 'buy once, cry once' 😂👍
Thanks! I was just wondering about that kit at the last videos. Like that it does not leave traces on the ground. Sometimes that is ok and sometimes not. Cool kit. I have a "Roman fire basket" in the RV, but that leaves some traces.
Thanks for the review, of this clever engineered piece of kit. Leaving no trash & scarred ground when you wildcamp, helps to keep many beautiful places open for overlanders. I think it is worth the money. Cheers WTG
All of the parts except the X-shaped riser and the charcoal screen are included in the Snow Peak Starter Kit, which comes in the heavy canvas bag. Snow Peak also makes the riser shown in the video, which they sell as a separate item. Drifta might make their own charcoal holder, Snow Peak sells a cast-metal one instead.
Had this Unit for over 6 years now already, still a looker, and top notch. One thing most overlook, this is probably the pit that smokes least. if you fire up with slightly smaller logs, you easily arrive at prime temperature, and have a excellent evening. And as you said, only by the drifta kit, the grid and the bag is a must. That will last you a lifetime also. But you can of course save a couple of hundred quid, and buy again, and again,and..
🤣🤣🤣 man that made me laugh. It's one of those British peculiarities, I believe the word itself dates from the Roman occupation of Britain and the latin term 'quid pro quo' which means 'one thing in return for another'. Quid = £1.
It's expensive but it's made from the best grade Japanese stainless steel, I expect mine will last a lifetime! We have the field oven for it also. I like the perforated steel idea but ended up getting the cool bed from taunton leisure. Drifta are a excellent company also.
Yeah I'd expect it to last a lifetime, they come with a lifetime guarantee too. How do you rate the field oven? Ive just been using a Dutch oven but its a bit heavy.
Is our buying one of these fire pits a good idea for just having a portable fire pit? Or is it just silly money to waste? I love well made things and I like the idea of a fire pit for my camping travels I own a gas bbq though.. is it worth it for me? They also just release a new small pit
They're certainly expensive but they're probably the best quality fire pit on the market. It depends on how much you will use it I guess, I use mine frequently and I know it will outlast me! 👍
I think I bought it from eBay actually! There's a chap here in the UK that makes really good quality campfire/cooking equipment, here's the link - 👍www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TJMMetalworks
Cheers! I'll put the link below for the anorak, it's good value and warm enough for the winter 👍. www.military1st.co.uk/20-7001-01-surplus-windbreaker-jacket-olive.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAkKnyBRDwARIsALtxe7jSTUdVc5EgKo80hUZCbCnQFuEGkXcpeBdMhXTO_d2t14hog4XF1K8aAuUkEALw_wcB
Hi, it's just a cheap windbreaker. I bought it from a military outlet here in the UK, here's the link - www.military1st.co.uk/20-7001-01-surplus-windbreaker-jacket-olive.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAkKnyBRDwARIsALtxe7jSTUdVc5EgKo80hUZCbCnQFuEGkXcpeBdMhXTO_d2t14hog4XF1K8aAuUkEALw_wcB
Just bought mine - waiting for it to arrive. Been wanting one for a while, finally bit the bullet, so to say. Hopefully we can get out during our winter and try it out... Otherwise, there's always the backyard. Thanks for sharing And I subbed. Cheers
it is a great kit. The price i find to much(€461,--). I use to petromax Atago. Much cheaper €220,-- . The petroma is also verry small, but not so small like the snow peak fire kit. Thanks you for the review And the great video what you make. Thank you.
Cheers Raymond! Yes the kit is definitely overpriced, but I guess a lot of the costs are made up by the high cost of labour in Japan and the cost of importing etc. The Petromax Atago is an excellent alternative 👍.
When this video came on I thought it’s got be American. I thought maybe they sold 1000 of these in the uk and the likelihood was slim of someone buying one also being a TH-camr. Imagine my surprise when your accent is probably about a 20 mile radius of where I’m from.
Good morning and greetings from Germany. Thanks for the video, was looking for a firepit for my overlanding trips. Will take your advice and buy the pit

Ty great review! I subscribed, because you took the time to show a thorough review! 👍
Cheers! Thanks for the sub 👍
I’ve got one thanks to you and watching your videos in the past and it’s a brilliant piece of kit and folds so small that you forget it’s in the truck
Thanks! I was just wondering about that kit at the last videos. Like that it does not leave traces on the ground. Sometimes that is ok and sometimes not. Cool kit. I have a "Roman fire basket" in the RV, but that leaves some traces.

Awesome review. I have never regretted a penny I have overpaid for Snow Peak gear.

Cheers mate! I'm enjoying your videos at the moment 👍

Lovely bit of kit and a great review. You should do more kit reviews!
Cheers Neale! Hopefully I'll get more done over the next few weeks 👍
Good morning from West Virginia USA. I'm going to get me one of those Fire Pits. As soon as I figure out what a Quid is.
🤣🤣🤣 man that made me laugh. It's one of those British peculiarities, I believe the word itself dates from the Roman occupation of Britain and the latin term 'quid pro quo' which means 'one thing in return for another'. Quid = £1.

Great review! It helped a lot with making a final decision. What sort of field pants are you wearing in this review?
Cheers! The pants are Fjallraven Vida Pro 👍

great review, like you say , a big wedge of brass for it but should last a lifetime.
Cheers Nell 👍.
See this Kit on your last Video. I wanted to buy the Frontrunner Wheel Grill. But the Snow Peak is better. Thanks for the Inspiration :-)
Cheers! Ah I also looked at the Frontrunner grill, the Snow Peak is better I think 👍
Well done. Thank yo for the review.
I have the same Luke the Drifta fire pit kit 👍
Can't beat it Charles, definitely the best on the market I reckon 👍

I bought just the firepit without the full kit and it came with the heavy duty canvass bag not the thin nylon bag.
What model coat are you wearing?

Great review, thanks chap. Helped me decide on getting one.
PS: You don't half look like Martin Compston from Line of Duty :)
Cheers James, you can't go wrong with the SnowPeak.
I've just emailed Mr Compston asking if he needs a stunt double 😂👍.

It's all about the origami tradition.
