  • Drifta Stockton Vs Snow Peak (Long Term Fire Pit Review)
Drifta was the only Australian distributor of the Snow Peak Fire Pit for a long time. They later released their own fire pit as part of the Drifta Stockton line up.
How does Drifta's version compare to the original fire pit made by Snow Peak? I've put them both through their paces - Enjoy this long term, detailed comparison.

When I read this the other day, I let out a mighty smile and "lol" - thanks heaps for the nice words mate. What a classic. Maybe YT knows something you don't...and you should go and try campfires in the backyard in a fire pit 😉

I have both the Snow peak and Drifta, I prefer and use the Snowpeak, but the Drifta is fine. I bought the Snowpeak FLOGA and it's a game changer for a bigger hotter fire and less smoke.

We love our Snow Peak! Super versatile piece of kit and as you well know Dan, your original videos about it were our go-to resource for advice, before we committed to the investment. As always, love your down to earth approach to these kind of videos. Love from this side of the planet x

Good comparison. I bought the Snowpeak from Drifta back when they were in close partnership with the Japanese manufacturers(approx 10yrs ago) and flogging off their premium products at a premium price and I'm very happy with it...except as you clearly outlined how awful the mesh grill can be. Thanks for the tip on the wire alternative, my next purchase. Great content as usual!!

Great stuff Dan, your very humble not blurting out your background and knowledge that you could have.
one wonders what you could come up with all you need is a draftsman (cough cough)...

Thanks heaps Sir. I see a partnership on the horizon....? The Southern Gentleman's All-in-one Fire Pit' ?- Has a ring to it! I think I may have mentioned in an earlier comment about what I learnt about at uni -is that what you are referring to? Or are we closer in real life than I remember and I forget your alias..😬

    Great review mate.
I saw another brand on a bushcraft/camping channel in the UK which looked really good but I didn't save the video. Doh.
One other thing I saw is that some places won't let you have a fire on the ground so no fire pit no fire.

Hi Phil, haven't heard of these, so I did a quick google. Thanks for sharing. I do like the slot together flat pack style. At 5mm thick I reckon it could be quite heavy. I'll add it to my list of camping gear to try one day some where some how. I had a look at your channels I reckon you should combine into one, get rid of the AI elements, and start presenting openly about the stuff you are passionate about. I think you will build a great audience that way. Thanks for watching mate..😬

@@OTWD Thanks Dan. They are on the heavier side, the entire 600mm long 5mm ss bundle pack (with everything) is 22kg but they will last decades. Reckon good value for what you are getting. Need to revamp those channels.

Thanks for the review. I wonder if the Snowpeak firepit fit would fit on the Drifta stand?

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

When I pull them out next I'll check ;) I expect not, the snow peak has rounded 'feet' and the drifta has flat 'feet'. The clips may not extend over the rounded 'feet'. Worth checking, hadn't thought of that before!

Hi Dan sorry for delay did you sort your fire pit issue? I would not wish the snow peak grill on anyone. I'd see if Kings or Drifta Stockton have a replacement grill.

I’m on my second drifta after the first one split and was replaced by drifta. If this one dies I think I’ll just go the kings one for under a hundred bucks and probably out of the same factory as drifta.

@@Philipk65 Agreed, copying IP is rampant. Shows the questionable ethics and ethos of the directors at Drifta

I reckon there is a big market here in Australia for these style fire pits. Snow Peak is/was unwilling or unable to supply that market. Australian businesses that are more savvy to that market have capitalised on the opportunity (Kings, Drifta, Darche, Anaconda's Spinifex brand, various others). Drifta seems to be criticised more than the others because they once had a partnership with Snow Peak. My view, as discussed in this video - is I am happy to support a business with real manufacturing footprints in Australia (and isn't just a distribution centre).
