Daisy Chain: Can a Cornish town adapt to survive another lockdown?

  • When the remote town of St Just, Cornwall, was locked down in March, the small community worried that its economy wouldn't survive. But one town councillor, Daisy Gibbs, rallied an army of volunteers to form 'the Daisy chain', an informal support network to ensure every household in the district had support. Inspired by her imagination and resilience, filmmaker Sky Neal followed the Daisy Chain for seven months, as local businesses adapted and the community pulled together to realise a more sustainable future. However, as a second wave of restrictions threatens, the town has to dig deep to find the resilience they need to ensure their future. Can they re-invent their local economy to survive and thrive beyond Covid?

You could make your own Daisy Chain in your Neighborhood / Community. 🌻
Help is needed everywhere and even the smallest effort can make a huge difference for the Vulnerable and Lonely. 💖

This could never happen in an America the greed displayed by Everyday People here has made me lose faith in humanity I would like to thank your community for restoring some of that faith the young lady who started this Daisy. Chain, you are amazing I need to know you grew up on your own makes you even more precious to me than you already are. Sending love from Atlanta

We stayed down in pendeen last week (booked in for March originally but lock down mk1..) the people were so friendly as always. I’ve never come across a community that care so much about their surroundings and their impact on their environment. Im really fearful for the winter months for these folks.

what we experienced here in south Korea is called 'grass-rooted democracy'. what makes our community great is not from the top, but from the people next to me.honor to see what makes Greater England.

The virus is highly transmissible, you can lock down but when you come out you're still going to mix with other people in other parts of the world who did not lock down. So about a month later you're going to see cases again. If everyone is in lock down who is going to work and produce goods to survive.
