I in my 70’s I do have group to play with. So solo is my only way to go. I just recently ran across your website. And I sure have enjoyed it. Everything I’ve seen is outstanding. Thanks for the effort in the work that you put into them.them.
Dice goblins! Yes!!! Bravo 👏 This is one of the best solo actual play videos I have seen! I was in a rut for the last few months and this really helps me seeing what I can implement to move me in a better direction for my table. Simple, fast yet exciting play through. Keeps things moving forward with the potential of the unknown at any given moment. This is how it should be! Light and flexible! Really like the advantage and disadvantage aspect also! Well done!
This was great to see how you play through some encounters and things. It takes a lot of tedium out of it using group initiative and such a bare bones system. I may be odd here, but I'd love to see someone record a full adventure with little editing nor cutting corners just to get a better feel for what I should be striving for in my game. But the few videos of your's I watched so far, have been helping me get ideas going on how to have success and not get bogged down as in my previous attempts at solo.
I just play a homebrew, d20 roll under. Deeply inspired by Black Hack and Whitehack, but not either system exactly. Hope this helps, and happy gaming (solo or otherwise)
For your Star Trek games how many of the crew do you stat out? Do you just do it on an as needed basis as the story goes along? Do you use the same “attributes”for all characters/games or customize them? Do you roll for their numbers or assign them? Good video by the way!
I use about 4 crew members. These are already statted up from my online game. Sometimes I rotate the members based on the mission. For example, I recently played through a couple Star Frontiers mini-scenarios, so I used a couple security officers since I knew there would be more combat. I sometimes customize the names of the attributes. For example, HELM becomes PILOT in Star Wars, PSIONICS becomes THE FORCE, etc... I use a standard array of 14 down to 8. Hope all this helps and thanks for watching! And if you are interested in Star Trek and other one-shots, my Discord link is in the video description.
Yes, there is improvisation involved. I find it in three ways: (1) Sometimes the dice roll better or worse than I expected. Had two "talking" rolls work during a combat that I thought was going to play out to zero hp, but the dice said that the enemies were willing to negotiate. (2) Sometimes I roll a dice to see if PC's make a certain choice, usually an ability check, but sometimes just "4 out 6 seems reasonable" (3) Sometimes I'm surprised that I think of a different approach than I thought when designing the adventure. I suspect fiction writers have that same experience. Thanks for watching and happy regular and solo roleplaying.
This was the best solo actual play that I have seen by far. Thank you. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJV)
Thanks for the kind words and glad the video was helpful for you. I was hoping it would be more of a "how to" rather than just a story session. All the best to you as well.

Definetly inspired by this demo, thank you very much! I was wondering which system are you playing?

How "rail-roaded" the adventure needs to be? I mean do you improvise as player and GM as well?
