I saw similar small sitting room with a desk and couple of chairs in the office of our school principal. The outside room was used by the assistant and as reception for waiting students and guests who had made appointment with the principal. Dressed in spotless white gown which I checked is called The Alb , the simplicity of the principals room was something which distinguished it from what I had in mind before meeting him,it also appeared very authentic and fitting I thought for an educational institution and infact I feel for any associated with service to people. I saw similar environments in buddhist monasteries and one of the few things which kept me attracted to them.
Yeah one lasted so long a monk wrote them saying God would cast his judgment on them if they didn't elect a Pope soon...So they elected him as Pope. He resigned after I think 6 months and tried to return to being a monk before he was imprisoned.
If it takes more than a day then the cardinals are not filled with the holy spirit… holy spirit will guide them to choose the next pope… but if they are filled with prejudice, favoritism, politics and greed then this will take a long time
