  • When I was stationed in Germany one of my favorite ways to misspend my youth was at the shooting galleries at Volksfests. Recently I was delighted to find that a version of the gallery rifles we used was available and decently priced. I wasted no time getting one, and I am glad that I did!

What a sad world it would be if we were limited to only "practical implements".

Brought back memories of my dad stuffing rags into a cardboard box as a " bullet trap " in the basement workshop when I was the proud new owner of an OBIQUITUS Red Ryder at about age 7 ? Neat fun new toy you have . Still have fun with my Pellet air rifles . Canada .

There is something really beautiful about a simple, inexpensive BB/pellet rifle. Fun AND CHEAP to shoot, and it reinforces safety and technique when it comes to shooting firearms. Even a cheap Wal Mart Daisy rifle is a blast plinking cans from the back deck. Keep it oiled!

Greetings to you as well! Yeah, this one isn't as nice and robust as the originals, but those are unobtanium here in the US, and this one will do for my purposes.

Great video! Loved the trip down memory lane and the story at the end. Brought back some of my own memories of shooting the full auto “Tommy gun” style BB guns at the county fair. The object was to shoot the star out of the paper. My brother and I never achieved the goal but it was so much fun shooting those.

I could never get all of that darn star out. was always a little bit of red around the side. like a DOT.

Never seen Diana quite like that one, just the break barrel type. Mine is the model 25 in 5.5/22 cal that we've had since 1973 and still shoots great.

I just picked up one of those about a week ago. Very fun little garage shooter. If you remove the rear sight, it reveals an 11mm dovetail rail that you can mount a small reflex sight on, but it can't be too tall or it will block the cocking handle. I feed mine with H&N Smart Shot, which feeds well.

when I was in Hanau, Germany, I did not see these, or sparling wine, I did see alot of absolutely beautiful women and alot of BEER. could not get used to the beer. I liked the beer, but it didn't like me. ( couldn't drink American beer when I got back either, too weak.). I think I will look for one of these rifles, it seems really nice.

Recently, 've been looking at a couple of air rifles that come onto my local gun shop used racks. Most are typical break barrel types. I don't think any of them have magazines and the mechanism yours has is appealing. I just want to practice on steel plates (electrical box covers) in the back yard.

For some reason I can see you doing something about the 4 x 4 furniture, LOL!
Watching this caused me to miss the end of an auction for .22 caliber pellet pump pistol (duh, me).

@@tinkertalksguns7289 I didn't need it, & it was used, untested, & sold as is. I can use the $ towards a knife, or better yet some mags for my CX-4.

I looked in to it and it seems they shoot 4.4 millimeters which is about .173 and not .177 (4.5 millimeters) also it states on the website i visited that you should only use copper coated lead, other types can damage the barrel. Hope this helps with the longevity of your rifle.

I've found some discrepancies in the online information and the owner's manual. Much of the information online agrees with what you have said, but both the website that I purchased this from (Airgun Depot) and the owner's manual state that it is .177 caliber. I do know the original guns this is based on used 4.4mm lead ammunition. I did buy lead round ball when I bought the gun but found it doesn't feed well. Consulting the owner's manual it states that I should use .177 mm steel BBs. I went with that and it works, but this can't be good for a rifled barrel. I need to check into this further and consult with the manufacturer.

@@tinkertalksguns7289In Germany we should use copper coated "balls" also branded "Oktoberfest". I bought my one some weeks ago. Same reasons as yours: Memories of earlier years...
I'm also fighting with the optics, saw nothing, try colors, if it doesn't work I will use a red dot.
I'm also sad it's not the same than the real gun, but 160 € are enough just for plinking.
Thanks for your story, I love it.

Not far but ten yards seems good. By 25 yard the group has spread to almost 4".
