used to play this to death back when it came out for the PC. it was a lumpy, glitchy mess that sounded awful, but it had one of the best stories Ive ever played in a game. This whole playthrough is giving me happy flashbacks thank you.
The worst glitch I've encountered was when I fought diamond weapon, beat him, saved, quit, and then I loaded back to a soft locked save that wouldn't allow me to parachute into midgar. Goodbye 20 hours of gameplay.
It wasn't a glitch, but me and my brothers were very disorganized back when the ps1 just came out, we'd kept buying more and more games until ff7 came out, so we'd gathered a lot of disks at that time, and we'd misplace some of them. My brothers had already gone through the game at least once, so I played through all the way up to the end point of disk 3 and had lost disk 4. It took at least a week's worth of playtime, and I haven't finished it since.
I guess you meant to say disk 2 and 3 because there are only 3 discs on ff7 lol

The Shinra HQ reminds me of how many neat/unusual designs are in 7 which I hope make it to the remake.
In FF4, you can name every character ‘Golbez”. It makes the zeromus battle interesting.
I saw a Yuffie warping run of FF7 where the player named every character "Yuffie", despite not having the actual Yuffie at all.
seeing Jenova in that tank STILL creeps me out... that is some scary shit... even all these years on.
This was a wild ride, but those last few minutes were amazing

I just started replaying FF7 recently with that fan translation project, oh man the little things that were miss-translated that make such a huge difference
Actually the PC release that the runner is thinking of was 1998. Not 2003. I remember that because my parents got it for me for Christmas 1998 :D

Fond memories of playing the original version of this on win98, even with the horror that was the Windows Midi Mapper absolutely savaging the soundtrack. Thankfully they made the right decision with this steam version and used the far superior PS1 soundtrack by default. Great run! As for Cid's name choice as Arthur C Clarke said, any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic
FF7 PC midi problems. I remember that! The game was also very unstable. A cutscene or a sound effect could crash the game. FF8 PC also had issues with Midi Mapper but at least it was stable.

Crono, Lucca, Schala, Magus, traveling to the past twice and altering events so you can skip to the future and save the world..? Seems like a legit Chrono Trigger run to me.

I actually tested this the other week and you CAN! The mug glitch doesn't work but that's just for quick kills animation wise. Otherwise all the rest of the setup works great!

these next gen graphics are so high quality! it's a shame my poor monitor can't handle it and renders much poorer
You don't counter with Omnislash in the normal game either, you do a 1 hit counter after Sephiroth does 31/32 damage.
I remember first playing this on the PC. I got omnislash just before going on vacation. When I got back my save file wouldn't work. I didn't play it again for many years.
I was hoping that, keeping the Chrono Trigger naming pattern, you would have named Red XIII Alfador.

The gold text in the blue circle is hiragana text Pu & U. Just a semester of Japanese 10+ years ago, so I can't really help beyond that.
