All I can say again is Joan Chamorro is a genius! He deserves to be inducted into the music hall of fame.
This has got to be one of the cutest and most delightful numbers in jazz history. No matter how many times I listen to it I’m blown away by the way these two young girls have captured the spirit and vivacity of the song. Jazz at it’s very best!! Wow!! It should be used as a model for all those who seek a career in music. Look hard, people. What is they do that sends the music deep into your soul and sets your feet tapping? Capture the spirit of THAT and the rest will follow. It’s a tribute to the mastery of the girls themselves and of those that nurtured the spirit that bursts through the whole performance. And let’s not forget the band that provides such an eloquent foundation for them and the genius responsible for the arrangement. I thank you all with all my heart.

Cuando veo en estos videos de hace nueve o diez años a estas niñas y niños con semejante talento y desparpajo, aunque también con un punto de timidez propio de su edad, no me extraña que ahora se hayan convertido en músicos profesionales y ya vuelen solos. Porque ahí estaba el enternecedor dúo de las peques Alba & Alba (10 años la Armengou y 11 la Esteban), pero también se ve entre la orquesta a gente como Eva Fernández, Carla Motis, Jan Domenech, Joan Martí, Marçal Perramón, Joan Codina o Magalí Datzira, más mayorcitos, todos ellos entre 13 y 17 años por aquel entonces, que ya hace tiempo son consagrados profesionales del jazz español. Impagable el trabajo de Joan Chamorro y su SAJB, sin duda.

It's so great to see how good the two Albas already were at that young age. Alba Armengou definitely looked like a star ready to be born. Her timing and pitch were already near perfect. It's wonderful to be able to see the development of all these kids through the SAJB video archives. I can spend hours watching these..
It's nice to see, how these cuties grew into fully fledged jazz musicians. But everything was 'in' them already that time.

Joan Chamorro is not only extremely talented in discovering new talents. He is giving Jazz a chance to blossom yet again... the song "A tisk, a tasket" was the debut song of Ella Fitzgerald, then 17 yo, at the Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater, long time ago...

Adorable performance by the two Alba's - with some fun gestures added in. My favorite is where Alba A sings "peck, peck, pecking" while doing an imitation of a pecking hen. As young as Alba A is here, it's amazing that her 3-years younger sister Elsa is back there in the trumpet section. Another interesting part of this performance - Andrea's trumpet seems to stay in her lap during the song as she closely watches the singers. A couple times Alba A seems to be looking back at Andrea and around 3:30 their eyes meet with Andrea beaming. In other videos they have seemed to be close and I like to think of Andrea as being a mentor - for me another contribution of the wonderful Andrea.
That's one more thing that puts SAJB ahead of most bands - each one is there for the others, adjusting the mic, giving an encouraging smile, or anything. Andrea is always supportive of the younger ones. So many stars, and no one behaves as "a star". It's the fruit of a nurturing environment, musically and emotionally.
They act as a family - it shines through each section and proves in full fruition in the band's vocal parts!

@@ArturoVillarrealJAZZ they have a festival in September called the Jazzing Festival, I went last year, it was great! There are concerts and also educational workshops on Joan Chamorro's methodology and there were other youth big bands. I highly recommend it!

Haven't heard anything this charming since a little black girl in Chick Webb's band first did this number. I can't emphasize enough what a high level organization this is. Truly the best band in the land.

May be my last pairing of Joan's stars with past jazz greats. Alba Esteban is a premier sax player. Did;t stop there. Became a delightful vocalist. She has many songs behind her. But, one stands out to many of us, a great Ella hit,. at about the age of 12. Must pair Alba with Ella. She would have loved her on a tisket a tasket Bill Burrows.
