I have worked in Level 1 Trauma Centers for most of my 35 year career and I have seen recoveries like this on several occasions, and have been Blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of their recovery. I will give only 1 quick example where I have been directly involved and witnessed a recovery like this. A 20 year old young man got shot in the head with a 9mm which exited the other side of his head. He was in a “Vegetative State,” and I wouldn’t give up on him. I made it a point to talk to him several times every day about a picture that someone had placed on his hospital room wall of his baby girl. I kept telling him, “Wow! You have such a beautiful baby girl, you’ve got to get better for her.” He couldn’t even open his eyes at the time but every time I talked to him about his baby girl his eyes would flutter and I knew he was hearing me and responding directly with the verbal stimulation. I had the privilege to work with him again 3 months later and he was sitting up in a wheelchair alert and oriented. I went in and asked him, “Do you remember someone talking to you about your baby girl when you were on the ventilator?” He lit up with a smile that I will have etched in my mind forever. He said yes I remember that, and he told me exactly what I would say to him several times every day when I was there at work. I have been a part of many amazing recoveries which has made my career a blessing instead of a job.

Your story made me tear up! You're a beautiful soul and he was very lucky to have you to reach out to him and believe he was still aware. You're an angel

Rachel Johnson: I thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to work with the young man and then blessing me to be able to see and witness first hand the fruits of my efforts. Thank you so much for your encouraging words.

Julie Ramos: Keep doing what you are doing and give him the chance that he deserves. Keep watching for any clinical signs and any response you can get from him. He needs to know that you haven’t given up on him and you will be right there for him when he is able to respond more directly. Tears are a language that God understands. Always Remember: As long as there’s God; There’s Hope...

      How's your dad?
You may try this, go to your father and tell him exactly what I am telling you here, tell him these words, do this daily. Just give this a try, you all who have relatives or friends that go through this problem, you all can use this! It's true, it's not some imagination, it's true.
Father, everything that we are, comes from within ourselves, everything that we feel happens within, in spite of the idea that we need things or certain events to happen in order for us to be happy, happiness happens within ourselves and so sadness and peace and all the human emotions. All that we experience on this Earth, we experience within ourselves, life does not shape who we are, we shape our own self from within us.
Father, who are we? Are we are our emotions? They come and go and yet we are still here. Are we our thoughts? They come and go and yet we are still here. Are we our experiences? They come and go and yet we are still here. Are we our personalities? We are always changing, yet we are still here. Father, who are we? All things come and go and yet we are still here, then who are we, father? Father, we are the silence when the noise of mind is no more, this silence is always there, always seeing, always witnessing. We are the ever-present Witness that sees it all.
Father, everything that we think we are, we only think it, if the mind is silent and there are no thoughts, we are still here. Father, everything that we think we are, we only think it, we are beyond thoughts, beyond our thinking, we are the ever-present Witness that sees it all.
Father, set everything aside, clear you mind, let the silence take over you, stay in this silence. Father, you are now at the core of who you are, your inner most being, the place from which everything that you are comes alive. Father, this is the essence of who you are, the spark of light that gives birth to all that you are. Father, this is the I AM state, this is the ever-present Witness that sees it all.
Father, you are this ever present Witness, you are not your thoughts, your experiences, this body of yours, your are not your situation, you are not your emotions, you are the Silence.
Father, now that you know you are more than everything you ever thought you are, so much more, come back to us Father, you can do this, you are the very essence of who you ever thought you are, the spark of life. You give life to your body. Come to us, Father.
I AM, your inner most being is waking you, I AM, your inner most being is calling you, I AM, your inner most being, is here, I AM is YOU.
Father, now I go and leave you in Peace, listen to my words and let this Peace take over you, let this Peace be all that's in your mind, stay in this Peace and while being in this Peace, come back to us.

Now it's been 4 months in this state, she blink, yawn, sleep when sleepy and coughing but no respon. The only respon is when we move her hands or feet, she will suddenly wakeup from sleep. I hope she will get her consciousness back and go for physical rehab then reunite with me and our little son. I really miss talking to her and hearing my name called by her beautiful voice. But Gitte I am NON Violent at all, i dont fight i use my head not my fists , Nor do i have a Temper.. Last time i was in a fight i was a teenager at school a LONG time ago LOL.. I was bought up with 3 rules by my father, who i LOVE DEARLY! 💖💖
1 ) you dont EVER hit a woman ,if you see a girl in trouble you Help no matter what.. which i have NEVER done nor will i ever do no matter what!!
2 ) you dont lie ever ( i have broken this rule many many times but in my childhood/teenage years since 18/19 i do NOT LIE, Lol😂 unless its my Ex Gf asking does my gum look big Lol i say no when i should say yes Lol )
3 ) never steal... iv broken that rule too big i was ten or eleven and got caught and no joke got my mouth washed out with soap 🤦‍♂️😂😂
Now looking back i had a great childhood had everything i needed and wanted but never spoiled i had to work for things i wanted... But these rules made me the MAN i am Today!

My 10 yr old Granddaughter had a severe asthma attack and it took a long time for them to get a heartbeat back. I begged her mother not to give up on her quickly. Less than 3 days later, she signed the papers to discontinue life support. She had moved her arm twice, but they convinced her that she wasn't coming back. I'll never forgive her for giving up and at least wait a week. She passed 12/31/20.

He typed his autobiography while paralysed with the help of a nurse. The title is "The Diving Bell and The Butterfly".

I never presume my patients can't hear me, understand me. I talk to them all the time while providing care. I tell them what the date is, what time it is, what the weather is like. I always tell them what I am about to do and why if I can. This reinforces my ...not sure what to call it, habit? I do it with dementia patients as well.

I had a patient in the ICU that I took care of every shift for 6.5 weeks who eventually was moved out to a rehab program. She was not a head injury but had hepatic encephalopathy that didn't resolve within a "normal" timeframe. She had normal scans, normal everything. No explanation for her coma. Almost two years later a young woman approached me at the mall, asked if my name was LeeAnn, I told her it was. She threw herself into my arms, said she recognized my voice and thanked me for taking the time to talk to her "while I was away from my body."
They hear us. It's that simple.

We had a high school student in a hospital where I worked. His parents were older and I often wondered where they got the endurance, but they took turns staying with him, encouraging his friends. They played his favorite music, brought his favorite foods, read his school work, trying to give him as normal environment as they could. Eventually the hospital said he had to go. His parents took him home, still filling his days with his previous normalcy. They threw a big party for him during the winter holidays. Teachers from his different grade levels as well as his senior staff. Loud music. Laughter. Everyone talked to him. A few days after the party he started to talk a bit, move a bit. He had more visitors. Teachers came over and talked about his classwork. He graduated with his class in June.

He was not supposed to survive but he did. He has started to smile, and started to mouth and say one to two-word sentences. We still have hope, but many times so discouraged. • @ang1692
      @ang1692 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It’s a very difficult tragedy but when someone is in a vegetative state for 7 years it really does change the circumstances. Because even if he were to wake up after all those years he would’ve been extremely mentally delayed and have severe brain damage. Sorry if this is stepping out of line because I definitely do not know the situation like you do. But keeping someone on life support for that long puts a lot of emotional toll on the family and especially someone like his own wife. I’m sure she wanted to be free from the pain and reminder of what used to be. However this is why everyday with medical improvement things like these may get better, maybe the technology will allow us to truly know if they are conscious or if they can wake up sooner rather than later when the damage is too great. I hope that you’re doing well and your family too

Terrifying to think HOW MANY people were in this situation but the doctors had managed to convince the families that their loved one was hopeless, and that those patients never had the chance to go outside and "laugh at a snow white joke" that would give them the opportunity to sat "HEY IM IN HERE!!!!!" How many people were in there and left to die. Beyond terrifying.

My best friend 20 years ago, was in a bad car accident. The doctors said he would never wake up from his coma. His mom finally let me go see him, when I walked into to his room. He had this stuff on him, I grabbed his hand. And I said hi dale, it is Karen. I love you and miss you, and the next thing you know. He was squeezing my hand so tight. He was turning my fingers purple, that it took 3 nurses to get his hand unprided. The doctors came in and said he has never responded to anyone before not even his mom or brothers. He opened his eyes and was looking and trying to yell at me. It was a miracle, because we didn't think he would come out of it. We still talk about it today, and he smiles. He goes someone told me to go, she needs you. And he said he heard my voice, and that's when he opened his eyes. And saw me and was happy and sad. Because our best friend was killed in the car accident. He didn't know yet, it took us 8 months to tell him. And when we did, he ended up back in the ICU. I made him promise to keep fighting, and he did.

My uncle David suffered a bad car accident, and ended up in similar circumstances. They didn’t think he would ever come out of his coma, and that went on for 3 months. Nothing, just lifeless and seemingly brain dead. David was an excellent piano player before his accident, my family would play him classical piano music in his hospital room. After basically being accepted gone, he slowly began moving again. Still incoherent, but able to move. Gradually through physical therapy, he was being taught to stand and walk again. His mind was seemingly erased; blank. His brother brought him his old keyboard. After some time, David began playing the piano(still considered brain dead). It was not long before he was playing rough portions/snippets of songs he used to play. As time went on, he began to progress very quickly. Ironically, he began remembering all kinds of things. It’s like the piano brought life back into him. It was extremely emotional, seeing him play that piano. 24 years later(today) and David lives on his own with 3 dogs. Plays the piano like a master. Miracles rarely but do come true.

People need to be aware that although someone might appear to be dying or in a comatose state, hearing is the last sense to go. Loved ones need to talk to them lovingly, about good times, things they enjoy, play favorite music, etc.

What a beautiful miracle! I do hear that people in a coma may hear and remember things, so it is important to keep talking to them even if they cannot respond. We kept talking to my mother until she died. We told her how much we loved her....and that we would be okay. Not sure how much she heard but we needed to tell her anyway.
