Lecture 8371. Practical Solutions for Taekwondo's Stagnation [JUNGBUB TALK]

Question: I would like to ask about practical solutions to the Taekwondo's stagnation. A member of the National Assembly, Dong Seop Lee, is becoming a Taekwondo icon. He is the first member of the National Assembly to obtain a ninth degree black belt in Taekwondo. In 2018, he concentrated on improving the status of Taekwondo through legislative policies, such as proposing and passing an amendment to the Taekwondo Promotion Act, which designates Taekwondo as Korea's national sport. For example, he tried to achieve innovation and reform within Kukkiwon (National Sports Institute) declaring that "the head of Kukkiwon must hold at least a ninth degree black belt" and made various attempts such as increasing the budget for the development of Taekwondo. Through these activities, he was evaluated as the first member of the National Assembly among 296 members at the Comprehensive Evaluation of Parliamentary Activities. It seems natural that Taekwondo should be included in each field, such as politics, diplomacy, culture, and economy. Also for Taekwondo's further development, I would like to ask Seusuengnim if we are going in the right direction and if there is an area that needs urgent improvement.
