      @@emmanuelawosusi2365 Emmanuel - sorry I think you misunderstood me - I do not know of any pro fight organizations where you are allowed to wear shin pads. I have only ever seen shin pads in amateur fights.
      Things have changed in Canada these last 10 years - when Gabriel was an amateur fighter they only wore gloves. No head gear and no shin guards.
      Now in BC the amateur fighters have to wear full gear for their first fights so they do not get damaged as much while learning.
      In all of Gabriel's fights, he only wore shin guards one time when he was an amateur fighting an American fighter from Florida for the North American amateur title. Some amateur fighters from the States would not fight without shin gear and although Gabriel won it really changes the fight as the other fighter took dozens of kicks to the thigh and kept going forward where I am pretty sure he would have dropped in the first round if not for the protection of the shin guards.
      Shin guards are good for protection when learning in some ways - but can give people some habits that would not work in Pro where the fighters hit so much harder and are very tough guys.
      I am certain that for Pro MMA you would be wearing a small pair of MMA gloves and that is it.
      Keith - Gabriel's dad

    Idk if it's just me but I thought knees were the easiest to land. I've always felt it quite intuitive to lift a knee as you fade back from a cross or hook. I also feel quite intuitive those combos like jab-cross-right knee- step through-left knee.

    Can you explain why head knees are "pro only"? I don't doubt it but would like to know why that is. Is it just really difficult to land on a resisting target?

    my Favorite setups are
    1 heavy jabs up high and step in with the knee while pulling their body into
    it
    2 fake teep to switch knee
    3 find the timing for a jumping knee
    wait for them to move in use their momentum
    against them and explode with a knee its a great
    way for people that dont have a lot of power to hurt bigger people can also
    be used if your backed against the ring ropes adesanya does this one a lot

    Do you have tips to land strikes to the solar plexus ? I feel like there's always the opponent guard on it...

    • @JohnnyBit
      @JohnnyBit ปีที่แล้ว

      You want to land knees on the solar plexus or punches? Either way - get guard out of there, eg hit/fake high and hit solar plexus.

    • @darcevader4146
      @darcevader4146 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's also angle you gotta square the opponent up to hit the solar plexus
      this usually require you slipping the right hand then the shot is right open

    • @windchimesilo9623
      @windchimesilo9623 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you catch a body kick (orthodox stance), with your right arm, you should be moving in the same direction as the kick, it will get them off balance somewhat. Step forward with your right leg, use your left arm to guard, and your left leg so knee their torso (solar plexus in your case), and you can follow up with whatever strike you desire, usually a right hook or elbow to the head. I probably explained this horribly.
