i was brought up on goats milk, my folks used to just milk then into a wide tupperware, and strain it later in the house through linen to get bits out. a wipe of a wet cloth was all the teats got, never an issue. on a side note, when my cousin tracy was born, she could not take mothers, cows milk, or formula. in the 1960.s she was basically going to die of starvation. mum, against doctors advice, took her some goats milk, she drank, and went to sleep for first time in 4 weeks from birth. we had a lodger who went to work on the bus, he took 1 1/2 pints in a tupperware, and every day the bus made an unscheduled stop so he could hand it out the window to my aunt in the next town to feed tracy, saved tracy's life.
I just stumbled upon your channel and enjoying myself so much watching all your videos. You are both very talented people so cute to watch your little goats and all the little things you made for them to play on and your beautiful RV. It’s amazing you guys are putting up the A-frame just the two of you. You guys are awesome keep up the good work we all love you.
I've been pulling you for a couple of videos. But the biggest fan watching your channel is my cat. Her name is Dora, she sits and watches all the animals that you have on your farm. Thank you for your videos
Hi You both are doing such an amazing job! Watching the goats is like watching a bunch of pre-schoolers! 😂 They are so funny. Thank you for taking us on this adventure!
the end is so fun to watch with them running around playing with each other on the new toys, almost like a ball of twine for a cat ... keep up the good work
Loved the “toenail” comment! Another channel I watch (Home Sweet Alaska) have a couple of ewes that they milk. She places a piece of cheesecloth across the rim the of her container to keep debris out and strain the milk. If there are babies, she will milk the mamas first, being sure to leave enough for the babies. If they are still hungry (very seldom) they’re always around mom for a snack.
You can also make some extra play equipment from old tires half buried at different heights (when the ground thaws) they love to jump from one to the other. Great job. Nice to see you care.
Their breed, diet, hygeine/health, and stress factors determine taste. But, you do need to clean those utters with utter cleanser, use more than just warm water. You can get deathly ill from a number of bacterial, fungal and, viral diseases if not washed wirh both a utter cleanser and warm water both, properly. And regardless of what some tell you, they do still require bathing with a good all natural goat bath soap every other month, as needed, and their teeth cleaned too. Stainless is best for a milk bucket, or can. Looks good! Best wishes!
I just love your dog. We had a Shepherd/Lab mix and he always had a stick in his mouth. Or ball. He would also go find the biggest stick he could so you could play fetch. Lol. I miss him ❤
Awesome upgrades to the Goat setup, even with a playground. Suggest you put some pavers where Katie will be standing to keep her out of the mud. I know you plan to address it, but still concerned about that large hole in the Goat shelter from a predator protection perspective. You guys make an awesome team and the results of your collaborative work are superb!
man watch out vermeer wood chippers we got the goat squad to take care of our brush freakin luv it !!!! hands down goats are badass. thank you for the video always enjoy them
Many years ago, we had dairy goats. Most of the feeder designs were a failure. The goats climed on them and soiled the feed. I came uo with a swing feeder . This was a tray about 2 ft x 4ft and 6inches deep, this had a lid of 4x6 arc mesh . This tray was suspended from a roof joist and could swing free. Like a childs swing. The benefit was that they could not climg on thefeeder and soil the feed. These feeders worked real well.
Had two nubian goats when I was in my late teens, early twenties. What a riot and endless entertainment. They would try to climb the ladder with me when I was picking cherries, apples and pears.
Learned things about goats I didn't know. Interesting 😊❤. I tried goats 🐐 milk when I was younger and I didn't like it very much..but I wasn't used to it .
I think it really depends on breed, diet, etc. This was really mild tasting, much like cows milk. I've had goat milk and cheese that I didn't care for in the past. We were glad that this milk tasted good!
Aww, your goats seem very sweet! You'd never know they've never used a stanchion. They sure love their new playground! Their temporary home looks wonderful! Great video!
We had two dairy goats. One was ¾ Nubian and ¼ French Alpine, the other one was Saanen. We got 4 gallons of milk a day from them. It was the best milk. When we milked then I made a mix: 1lb rase horse oats, ½ cup kelp, ½ cup molasses, 2 table spoons apple cider vinegar. The hay was Alfalfa feed to choice. My does weight 75 to 100lbs and the bucks were 150 t0 200 lbs. I liked the play structures you made for the goats. If you could find a granite rock or two. Your hoof trimming would drop off, that is if the rocks are ruff.
I have watched my mother-in-law milk her goats before. She use a mason jar and puts a cheese cloth over the container and uses a string to tie it on . Just in case of hair , dirt or anything less that my fell in .
Great video of what you have done for the goats, goats light to climb and high places. Waiting on next video !!! Remember more videos more subscribers!!!!
so what did you do to you finger its so wrapped up so nicely i have watch you the first time you arrived to the land you work so well as a team i know you are putting a porch on will it be a wrap around or only in the front garden time is arriving quicikly are you doing any changes to your planting this year i so enjoy watching both of you working as a team thank you
Thank you for sharing your story! 😃 I like your grandmother's saying! She was correct. Unless there is something wrong with the goat, it's definitely the one milking not being clean 😀
New to your channel. Been watching a couple of months. I like how you keep talking, it is more interesting than just silence. Did you cut your finger. My dad had a couple of fingers missing or cut short. He never spoke of it. Must of happened early in life. Take care that all heals, and be sure to duck when necessary. I’m from Michigan
Hi there! Chris' finger lost a fightbwith a hammer. I think the bandage made it look worse than it was. We just wanted to make sure it stayed clean and didn't start bleeding while working :) I'm sorry to hear about your dad's fingers. I've known a few people who have lost fingers and can only imagine it is a bit traumatizing.
Thank you! His hand is doing much better, thank you! He accidentally hit a finger with a hammer and it bled pretty good. Nothing we couldn't fix up in a few minutes 😀
I have had goats for over 20 years. the milk is awesome. If you get a Goatee taste feed them some garlic. believe it or not it sweetens the milk. I have kept my bucks next to my does because they are herd animals and the bucks get lonely too. It is also for protection. when the buck is kept so far away from the does he is vulnerable to bears. Way to go you guys are doing great. Love the channel. I have some waterer for winter we no longer have goats. I also have some other goat stuff if you are interested for free. I could meet you on our way to Homer. We go there to visit friends and family.
ya goat love tree branches and it good food for them and a goat pen it a big up keep for one they trash things out lol its like have 3 years olds around lol
I'm what you might call a "milk Nazi". I get store bought cows milk and I can get the same brand from different stores and you can taste the difference. It just means it is coming from different dairys and the cows may be on different feeds that way. My wife and daughter do not notice the difference but I sure do, so much so that I don't buy the milk at some stores so I understand what you are saying about different flavors. I smile when you are talking about hard frozen ground because where we live in a part of Arizona that has caliche that is so hard it wears shovels out very quickly and it is year round. Doesn't the milk taste like pine needles if fed pine trees?
@@johncorlett3699 what a truly remarkable story. Should be written and made into a hallmark or better movie

Hello folks, I find it very reassuring to learn that that big, bearded and often armed man is actually very sweet and gentle. :) Love you!
Just joined your channel. Love the goats; I used to have Pygmy goats. They are So fun. Thank you for sharing your life’s with us.
Welcome! Pygmys are so adorable! They definitely are fun and keep us on our toes 😅 🐐
I've been pulling you for a couple of videos.
But the biggest fan watching your channel is my cat. Her name is Dora, she sits and watches all the animals that you have on your farm. Thank you for your videos
Love this channel and SImple Living Alaska - others have nothing on you! What a treat!
Thank you!

Haha I love this comparison! You're so right 🤣🤣

They are hilarious! 😀
We are so impressed with the setup you did for the goats. It’s so awesome when people put in the time to raise their animals with care. Excellent Job!
Thank you! This is just our temporary set-up, too. They will absolutely love their new set-up once we finish the cabin!
Always enjoy seeing y’all’s videos. I watch a couple of people from Alaska. You are doing great things on your journey. Keep it up.

Thank you 😊
I loved watching you build things for your cute goats. They are adorable. Loved this video. Now on to building the cabin.
Thank you!
Had two nubian goats when I was in my late teens, early twenties. What a riot and endless entertainment. They would try to climb the ladder with me when I was picking cherries, apples and pears.
Great job building the goat milking stand
Thank you!
Great temp updates, can't wsit to see the barn and chicken coop you two build. The goats really enjoy their big yard

🙂
What an enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing the goat antics.
Absolutely! They are a hoot!
The goats are so cute playing on their new outdoor playground.
Adorable! 🐐
A coffee filter would be perfect to use as a strainer for any thing that might have ended up in the goats milk
Great idea! We will need to pick some up!
Great job building the feeder for the goats
Thank you!

Thanks for another very entertaining video. The goats will enjoy all the love you show them and maybe you will get lots of milk that taste good...
Thank you! Yes! We are hoping to get lots of yummy milk!
Cabin first, then goats! Chickens ok. Good fresh eggs, but goats will require a lot of work. Good luck with your decision.
love hubbys red power tools they are the best also the black goat he makes me laugh😅😅😅😅🐐🐐🐐🐐
He is the sweetest and most mischievous!
Love the goat attention! They do have personalities~!
They really do! They are hilarious!
Oh ! elles sont trop mignonnes ces chèvres ❤ , c'est rigolo 🤣🤣🤣
They are adorable and hilarious!
You did well at trimming their hoofs. Rocky ground helps to keep them trimmed. Good job,all the best
Thank you! We don't have rocky ground here for them, so hoof maintenance is certainly going to need to be a big priority with them. 😀 🐐
I like the thought and effort you put into all of your projects. Great work guys and all the best. Love your vlogs. 😂
Thank you! 😀
Great video. I love how they talk to you. lol

Bury some tires sideways in the ground so they stand up half circle. Saw it on a goat farm .
They are so curious, a lot like chickens.
They are! Other than the nudging for pets when the demand so 😁

Love the goats!
If I may suggest, the lock on your head chute? Maybe if you found one that locked with a sliding spring lock, it might work better for you. 😊
I wonder if you could mount a very strong magnet to help keep the milking pail from tipping over.
Great idea! We may need to try that. Thank you! 😀
Great video‼️
Thank you!
You could install a water heater to keep goat water from freezing. That is if you have a power source. We sell them at the farm I manage.
Good job! Goats are so cute.
Good vid
ya goat love tree branches and it good food for them and a goat pen it a big up keep for one they trash things out lol its like have 3 years olds around lol

Be sure to have a little fun every day,
jack
Looks like you dont have any porcelain screws left. The brass ones are not good with treated lumber. Although it is not a big deal for a milk platform.😮
I just put a piece of wire around the bottom of that rotten post where they couldn’t chew on it Tiny Houston MS ( Len Price )
