Go to the Hue Sync application, click settings, click General Preferences, scroll down to Background Lighting, then turn minimum light level off for videos

If you're using chrome on windows, go to the extension store and download "ultrawidify". It's a very useful extension that lets you force 16:9 video content to fill your entire screen. it's perfect for Video streaming for when the content is 21:9 and has been formatted as 16:9 leaving you with black bars around the entire video, or for when you want 16:9 content to fill your whole screen.

its called Dead Zone if you use Prismatik instead of overprcied hue sync garbage
Change the Ambilight mode from 'Standard' to 'Natural' - this allows the lights to turn off for black scenes
