      Will do. You shouldn't have to worry about it as I've only run across it a few times in South Dakota in very rural areas where the Tesla Superchargers were right near the front door of a grocery store. While it's super annoying, it's not all that common thank goodness. It does make me want to avoid those areas at least during peak travel times.

    Great video Bryan! Mostly I charge at home using a NEMA 14-50 on a 50 amp breaker and I get about 29 miles per hour which is plenty fast enough for most people. On road trips, we’ve always used Tesla’s superchargers and they work as advertised, but I know there’ll come a day that I’m gonna have to charge up at a non Tesla charger. I’ll figure it out, but I don’t have a lot of patience for chit that just don’t work. Maybe they’re not that bad, it’s just that Tesla has set the bar so high. I’d like to think as the overall charging network expands, that it’ll become more seamless and reliable for everyone.
    ICING. Witnessed it once at Limon, Colorado’s V2 charger and yeah, I don’t have much patience for that either. It was some DB in a newer model Jeep blocking two of the six chargers. There were three of us charging when a Model 3 pulled in. The guy in the 3 got out immediately and went straight to the drivers window and started jawing at the guy and the rest of us got out of our cars and started walking their way. Fortunately he fired up the Jeep and pulled away. We were all pissed off, but a little unnerved knowing how quickly things can spiral. He could of had a gun and alcohol on board. Who knows?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! Sounds like a solid setup and 29 miles per hour is great!
      Agree the 3rd party charging networks will get better and most likely fast. With so many new EV's coming out, they'll have to and will probably get more funding from many of the car companies. I've only done it twice. Once using the J1772 adapter at a museum or library in Boulder, CO which was slow, but worked fine and one other time I tried at an Electrify America, but it only had CCS and nothing else so wasn't even an option. I really hope Tesla releases that adapter soon as it would open up way more options as far as travel.
      I will be doing a video on ICEing at some point. It honestly gets me pissed off even talking about it. I've had a few run-ins with people doing that and they could have easily gotten out of control. While these people are just selfish a-holes some of the blame has to fall on Tesla too as they've known this is a problem and have been slow to find solutions. I like the idea of the blocks that are up when the charger isn't in use, but lowers when a Tesla pulls in. They need to make them high enough to prevent larger trucks from doing it. I hate that it's been put on us to solve the issue when like you said these things could spiral out of control quickly. Tesla needs to step up.
      Thanks for your comment and for watching!

    Why is your 10-30 adapter different from the tesla? the grounded prong is round, and the one on tesla is like an L, will the campground takes two types of 10-30?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's because campgrounds and RV parks use a different one. My 10-30 I use at home in Nashville (from Tesla) is different from a campground 10-30.

    Hi! New Tesla owner here. Earlier tonight I went and did my first supercharge. While the charge was occurring, the touchscreen showed the amount of time left and the cost. However, when I opened up the app the session doesn't even show up under the "Charge Stats". Do you know why? Also, you said that the 120v wall adapter comes standard with with all new Teslas... really? I had no idea. Where's mine?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Charging stats won't show up in the app until after the session is done and sometimes up to hours later. If you want to see the stats of each session, just tap your account icon in the top right of app, then Account, then Charging, then History... there you can see all your individual session with stats. This might take a bit after the session to show up as well.
      As for the 120v wall adapter... this video was filmed about a year ago, since then Elon removed the mobile charger from being included (dumb move) although it's automatically selected when buying a Tesla on their website so you must have unchecked it or purchased a different way. They now charge $230 for it.
      Hope that clears up a few things for you 😀

    • @sirtalis69
      @sirtalis69 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bryanhauer Yes, you're right. It finally showed up... a couple of hrs later! As for the 120v mobile charger... I did place an order for the wall connector ($475) before I actually placed the order for the car itself. Maybe that's why the mobile connector wasn't automatically selected. It also kinda sucked that they weren't willing to deliver the car directly to my house. This must be a new thing for 2023. People that I've spoken to who had bought their cars back in 21 & 22 were offered direct delivery.

    Hello … so I just picked up my MY . However I was told I did something stupid . I charged to 90% last Friday and didn’t want to charge again cause it would’ve been peak time charging during the weekend so I depleted my battery to 3% before the next charge on Monday . I hope I didn’t ruin anything . Can I please get some insight/help ? Thanks very much

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  ปีที่แล้ว

      You didn't ruin anything and honestly... don't worry about any of that. First see what kind of battery your Model Y has. If it's a traditional Lithium-ion Battery Pack you'll normally want to keep that charged between 20-80% when you're in town, but if you go outside of that it's totally fine. If you have an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) you can charge up to 100% anytime. Your car should tell you on the charging/battery screen when you plugin.
      On long road trips the key is to basically arrive with the least amount possible at each Supercharger (preferably 250kW or 150kW) as that's when you'll get the fastest charge times (150kW share power with other cars on the same number spot so try to not park next to someone on the same number if it's possible at 150kW chargers. 250kW are independent so it doesn't matter.) So select the Supercharger on the map so the car pre-conditions prior to arriving and try to arrive with the lowest SOC (State of Charge) and only stay till a few minutes longer than the car says you need to. Then get on your way.
      Note: These are just suggested guidelines and in no way are you "ruining" anything. If you do it hundreds of times over and over... sure, you might degrade your battery a bit, but it's not a big deal. Stick to the principles above most of the time and you'll be fine 😀

    • @mele2259
      @mele2259 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bryanhauer thanks so so much for your quick reply . Your reply and videos are extremely helpful. How do I know which battery I have ? It’s a 2023 model y if that means anything ? Thanks again !!

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you plug in it should tell you it’s ok to charge to 100% every time. That will tell you it’s an LFP battery. If not, it’s a normal Li-ion. Probably a way to tell in the settings too, but would have to look when I get home.

    How about charging the Tesla vehicle with a stationary bike? How much would someone need to pedal for a 1 mile charge? ;) I am assuming it's part of a weight loss program. ;)
