The language barrier question - that is me and my boyfriend TO A T. My boyfriend (who's also Korean) and I communicate primarily in English. The longer we are together, the more I use slang with him and speak at my normal pace. But overall, he says he can understand me well because I speak a little slower and more clearly than others. HOWEVER, we also have these weird conversations/arguments over something like colors. I'll call something blue, and he will be like, "no, it's SKY blue." But I love it - it makes for hilarious stories later.
hahahah yes!! i feel like he's made me so much more aware of the words i choose and their meaning cause if i say something just a little bit off he's after me!! hahahahah
this is so weird, i teach in korea and my kids always fight me on sky blue too ahahha i just say blue and they explode everytime

Agreed! I think the only thing that stood out to me was the way he used "actually" in his sentences. The way he used actually sometimes a native would use "i guess"

Ok I need to comment again. So the whole thing you guys said about traveling, I totally agree with it! I always tell people how important it is to solo travel at least once in your lifetime. Also, what you guys have is exactly the kind of relationship I want. You give each other space and respect each other's opinions and that's really important. 💗💗

When you guys were to mention your mutual fav kdrama I guessed "Reply" series. I thought you would mention it, since its truly one of the most authentic and realistic kdramas that contents meaningful values. Of course, that's only my opinion but its the one and only kdrama I would always recommend!^^

Aww! Glad you guys found one another. I think watching TV shows/drama about the country is the quickest way to learn the language and understand the culture and humor. Friends were my show aha. i had my first solo traveling experience in nyc the week after thanksgiving and it was amazing! i’m hopefully moving to korea next year and i’m so excited to do all of the solo traveling around the country 😭

My wife of almost 20 years is Korean from Korea. She came to the States for school. But even after 3 years, she did not have much spoken English. So, when we started dating, every communication was in English. I was getting my PhD in English Lit. And all my friends were getting PhD's at a major research university--often in English Lit. Within a year, her English was amazing. I didn't realize that half the reason why she liked me was because I was totally improving her English. I was like a walking English lesson.
Really admire your dynamics. Like how you guys can be independent and so the relationship doesn't seem suffocating. Intellectuals!

The places you explore are so unconventional and it's why I subscribed to you when your Korean travel videos popped up on my recommendations. I felt like I had already seen the same things about Korea over and over, but your videos showed a more unique, fresh side of the country that didn't feel "mainstream-y" if that makes sense and I love it. I feel like you do that about all the places you visit in general and I adore that! So I'm actually really glad you go to "weird" parts of countries 😅 ❤
