- The final boss of the story is against the unsent Shuyin. Tidus in everything but name, Shuyin constantly spams his overdrives, which can easily kill any of your characters. He's a pure physical attackers, so Protect or high defence will help you a lot.
Keep your healing up, revive the characters he kills with Terror of Zanarkand, and slowly wear him down. He's a glass cannon.

The feels when you see a spirit so angry that he literally phases back into existence to fight you.
Shuyin lived 1000 years and

It did cause minor trouble for the one hit but hot damn that ¨Terror of Zanarkand¨ attack is dope, one of the coolest attacks i've ever seen, both by name & visually

Correction: The "Farplane" Cup
This was one of those first games that really pioneered the art of taking assets from one game and just mixing them up and making a whole second game to sell you basically at no cost.

It was basically a test balloon for FF sequels, I guess they wanted to tread carefully and do it with minimal cost. I miss the times 20 years ago when I didn't recognize asset re-use for what it is lol but I still like the game a lot.
@@MisterBlackroad I liked the game too for sure. It's just wild how that became so normal. I still like games that reuse assets. It just makes me feel funny like you said, because I can't not see it now.
I like how he kicked the World Champion
Normally I'd say that the recycling of moves, names and weapons within a games series is lazy but I really do like that this game is full circle with the original title

The Terror Of Zanarkand should've been an instant kill strike!
Unless you've broken your character (which you aren't likely to do your first playthrough) it pretty much is due to the sheer damage.

Never got around to playing this coz it was too cutesy for me, but I gotta say. Shuyin and possibly Paine are the two reasons I'm glad this game exists. Dark Tidus and female Squall, I can definitely vibe with that
I love how people call Shuyin an evil Tidus, if I didn't see a recap timeline of the ffx universe, I would too considering confused why Tidus isn't even in the cover of X2.

Interesting when the eyes go from 3D to 2D. It's super obvious when the camera goes between Yuna and Shuyin with Payne also 2D blinking in the background. Also the music is so...boring. They should've just reused Yunalesca's theme (Challenge) instead. Remember that feeling the first time you fought her? Then saw phase 2 and finally the shock of phase 3? I remember my jaw dropping and telling my dad "you can do this even though she's so coooool!" lol good times.
Shuyin does not inspire those same feelings.
You're mad because Shuyin wasn't more like Yunalesca? I've heard some far-fetched gripes with the game but this takes the cake.

the drastic switching of models used in the game always stood out to me. One moment they have expression, animation, the next the model is flat and not even animated lol. They must have run into a resource budget, had to chose only certain times the better models got used. I heard this game was rushed too.
There are certainly a few scenes where the facial animations are just bad. I don't know too much about the development cycle.
@@yuelscha yeah I think the ps2 version actually looked amazing overall especially for the time it came out I don't see the random drop of picture quality affects the enjoyment much though in my opinion
Considering They had a 50 Million profit loss on the Movie two years prior I'm not surprised

What I find stupid is they literally turned Tidus into a boss fight. He has nearly the same model, the same animations, and all his major attacks were Tidus' overdrives.
The most stupid of all being the Terror of Zanarkand. The original overdrive for Tidus had either Rikku or Yuna toss a blitzball to him the overdrive was inspired by the Jecht Shot.
For Shuyin the ball just magically appears out of nowhere and the ball he kicks is Wakka's ultimate weapon.
It eludes me on why they copy/pasted him like that. Besides appearence, he is nothing like Tidus and its stupid for Shuyin to fight exactly like him.
Except he's missing 2 of Tidus's most important abilities; Hastega and Quick Strike.
That's kind of the point the though. Tidus *is* him, or at least the Zanarkand Fayth's version of him. He and the other citizens of Dream Zanarkand are born from the memories of the Zanarkand Fayth, their collective dream of a Zanarkand that was never destroyed. Blitz Ace came from the Fayth's memories of Terror of Zanarkand, so like Blitz Ace it likely came from Jecht Shot or whatever Real Zanarkand's equivalent of the Jecht shot was.
I do think they could have capitalized a bit more on the horror Yuna would feel having to fight someone who looks Tidus and who fights almost exactly like him, kind of like with the corrupted Aeons. Even if Shuyin didn't change forms, I think that might have make the battle feel more climactic. Alternatively, an extra form or two for Shuyin would've been nice. We've seen that Unsent can take wild, monstrous shapes with Seymour. The Final Boss didn't just have to be Yuna and co. beating up a transparent athlete
It actually begin as an extra video called "Eternal Calm". There, Rikku shows Yuna a sphere with recording of a boy who looks just like Tidus. But in the first original Eternal Calm, Tidus was shown and they didn't plan on making a sequel. It was fans begging for it that made it happen. They made a new recording, with a brand new character - Shuyin. Because if Tidus was just a dream of the fayth, who was the one the dream was based on, right? It all had potential on paper, but in the end the whole story was like... meh. Also Tidus' revival was so lame...

In FFX the person who tosses the blitzball can be ANY of the other party members. There is a hidden stat that determines who tosses the ball.
Funny how the whole premise of X-2 is facing your past and learning to move on and then you get that bogus ending with the Fayth who are supposed to not even exist anymore mind you, say "oh yeah so we can make your love interest exist again but we chose only until now to say anything in regards to that. Thereby completely trivializing all the character development you went through for 2 titles.". X-2 is the ugly duckling I just choose not to acknowledge.
She meets the fayth in the farplane though if I remember correctly so it kinda makes sense

it's because they exist in the farplane after they moved on, their spirit lived on, the farplane has a lot of untouched lore they should've made a story around in a X3, it's possible that spira itself is dreamed up by the farplane

How could spira be a dream full of dream people created by the farplane who some are actually dead but in the living world and once sent they disappear you know what I mean? Spira is very clear a physical realm

Yes tidus is the dream version, but to have they both do the same moves even their short speech ppl the attack is just straight up being lazy and no creativity. Which is a shame cuz shuyin had so much potential to be awesome

I finish this game using their original class and its still too ez of a game....
The original classes are honestly quite strong. I prefer to keep Yuna in gunner because it's a fun dress to use and is very versatile it is just a little squishy in my opinion.
@@dankdilly The squishy part is not even a problem with rikku and Yuna's action speed in there original class you can easily buff yourself before any damage was dealt....

Chaining 3x Trigger Happy at the same time is so much fun.
You should also do the hard part of it then. The 100 levels up to Trema. Trust me. It's hard but I did it.

This is the laziest enemy design in ff series. Just copy paste from previous game. Shuyin, omega weapon, ultimate weapon.
It's a prequel to what tidus design was based off of. If you ask me, it's nice closure to how the fayth dreamt up tidus

X-2 sucks so bad, mainly because of how they crapped on yuna's character; going from a quiet, mature young woman that was wise beyond her years, to a ditzy, air-headed wanna be pop star. Combat system was pretty good though. X-2 should've been a prequel starring jecht, braska and aurons journey
I love her so much in both games I still see her as the same person just more confident in X2 I'm not too excited for the X3 idea because it seems like it will be the prequel idea you are talking about but I just think the characters and fighting in X and X2 are too great and that without them it wouldn't feel like X but it could still be great.

I'll be honest...I prefer Shuyin to Tidus just cus Tidus is sooo fucking dumb for most of 10. Shuyin went through some shit and is just a much better character personality wise. Imagine if Shuyin was in 10 instead of Tidus But he went through the war but didnt lose Lenne. Yuna should have been the stand alone MC with none of that romance crap game wouldnt have changed much with Tidus gone and probly would have been far better.
Payne was the worst character... for real

Paine is aight but it would have been really cool to have Lulu instead she has way more history with yuna and rikku and it would be awesome to see how lulu would have looked In different dress spheres. I feel like Paine is a filler character used for no real reason but I don't necessarily hate her
