    as a Chinese , at beginning, when the google baned , some people worry about it . But right now all people think this is really a smart move . Extremely protectionism. we have our own internet ecosystem right now , and it is much better than other country ,and more , it is reserved talents (many talent back to China join internet industry); database , and even all theses big internet company have own new tech development direction,like baidu(search engine)right now is focus on AI . And for the end user, you can get VPN around 10 bucks a month. and in big city like Beijing or Shanghai , all the tall office building have VPN , and some of them you can automatically connect when you choose it as WiFi. not big deal . some time you have to admit Chinese government is smart .

      While we don't endorse usage where the jurisdiction doesn't allow for it, it would be fair to say that any VPN that went through the proper channels to get the paperwork done would almost certainly fall within the same rules imposed upon all other software services, which would defeat the purpose. Hypothetically speaking - if you wanted to peer out, or do something outside of the watchful eyes, you'd likely not want to have what you are doing logged and reported back.

      well your concept of freedom is way different than western societies apply ... You certainly wouldn't understand unless you live in a western country...I'm from Peru and the time I've spent in China was generally awful people were surely racist to me because of my skin and complexity although there were few nice people who tried to help me at once and these people were the ones who spoke little english.....One concept of freedom is to be able to speak as you feel and say what you think....The times I've talked to chinese citizens they never tried to have an opinion on politics...Other concept related to freedom is private property and space...I felt really threatened when the local station tried to enter by force to my appartment just to take photos of me my signature and my data without asking for consent....In my country as a foreigner you would only need to provide data when needed or when filling official paper.. If it isn't required then you don't provide your data (and also this allows to protect your sensible data from bad people) .... Another concept of freedom is the pursue of truth and be able to question to have criteria to decide by yourself to empower yourself by your own means...Just simply I felt in China as a westerner it was just impossible ..... Because in my country I'm empowered to walk freely and have my own thoughts and express them I surely feel much better and if you think freedom is a value that isn't fundamental to societies to have....then there's a bigger value and that's truth...question yourself if you're able to speak and oppose what you don't like....If you're abe to question the CCP ....life can't be reasonable without truth......Then question yourself why your nationals migrate around the world and establish themselves in other countries ....In my country Peru which is located in latin america we have up o 1.5 million chinese citizens the third largest chinese diaspora outside of Asia (Just behind the US and Canada) and most of them have prosper resaurants but if they were so pleased in China why they moved abroad if they're commoners like most of us?

    National postal services should compete with Facebook and google for better security and privacy issues as essentially Facebook / google are internet versions of the old postal services

    • @sanjaymatsuda4504
      @sanjaymatsuda4504 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They cannot compete, any more than apples can compete with pencils. They do different things. For one, postal services carry actual matter, while the internet and similar media only carry data.
      In the one area where they are comparable, data delivery, the internet is vastly superior. It delivers more data, much more quickly, at an astronomically lower cost per bit, at an equal or greater level of reliability, to many more potential recipients (you can't get mail if you're homeless, but you can still get internet access).

      well most inventions came from the west and even russia has sth to say....wat you do in china is reverse engineering and deconstruct western technology so as to build them by yourselves...I'm peruvian and I even know that I got to work in Shenzhen and I saw it by first hand...and whay you do is departing from western technologhy create evolutions of the same products...That's innovation true but you're not discovering new technologies you're just upgrading them to your own desires (and if you tak me about 5G it has also been developed in the west but not on the scale China proposes it)..Obviously that's blattant violation of copyright rules but as far as I'm concerned I've never saw in China any active law enforcement to prevent piracy....

    It's amazing how old media can be on youtube but not be a part of it, it actually takes some skill to make this stuff borning, your editing is stuck in the last millennium, the music everything is cookie cutter generic corporate, indistinguishable from every other corporate entity producing content for YT, it could be Buzzfeed, MTV, CNN or the BBC. After watching nothing else but what are essentially gifted amateurs making videos on YT things like this are essentially unwatchable, despite the content being engaging.

    Guys, are you seriously? 25 yuan or 3 dollar per hour... which year is that? According to your story timeline, it would be around early 199x? Nah, I don't believe that figure, or at least it doesn't cover the diversity of Chinese regions. Because I spent less than 1 dollar/hour for internet around the millennium year (the 3rd one,2000 -- sorry for being poor, though my cousins already had them Cry+LOL) , plus China's per-capita GDP in 1995 was 609.66 USD. Many of us were really poor back the 1990s, people who spent 3 dollar surfing Internet must be super dooooooooper rich (jealous face)! And BTW, China blocked FB in 2009 for some obvious reasons, since then VPN boomed. Show a Chinese face doesn't really help here... Is she really Chinese Chinese?
