Martin Beck, perhaps my favorite detective...sorry to those abrits I love also. It was intense but also understated. A real unique spin by a good actor.🎉
Ok i..
Great detective series. Thanks ! 😊
This is a good series, but the crime was heartbreaking.
Good storyline, good sound quality, Thank you.
Great story. Funny thst the mugger had an Irish accent, LOL.
Oh! I’ve never heard of Martin Beck, but tonight I listened to The Man On the Balcony and thought the story was sad quite a lot of the time, and had very tense moments, I enjoyed the way the story progressed.
I was drawn into Martin’s world. I enjoyed the assorted, at times very funny, dialogues. I was so interested in the characters : Martin Beck, his coworkers, townspeople, and the culprit. At the story’s end, I breathed a big sigh of relief. Just being aware of the way life is mundane, funny, celebratory, painful, and tragic all at the same time I want to get to know Martin Beck and his world much better. Thank you ❤
Iv seen the beck tv series on bbc4 foreign films on Saturday evenings ,they are good too
9:00 as a parent, even in fiction I cannot take the stories about dead/hurt children
Excellent stories. And perfectly set into plays. Remarkable writers (I know there are two of them) who created Martin Beck. Always listen to them holding my breath.
The Martin Beck books, of which there are ten, are excellent. They were written in the 1960s and into the 70s by two left wing journalists who used the detective as a vehicle for a stinging critique of Swedish society. The version made by Swedish TV et al, the version shown by BBC 4,is very good, but almost a lifetime away from the books. Watch the tv version, listen to the radio version, but do rrad the books (and the background to their creation, and writing). Point of interest, they are considered to be the origin of Swedish/Scandinavian noir by many crime fiction authors including Henning Mankell.
Thanks so much for the intriguing insight.
