It was decided to just observe its orbit and avoid it at all cost, because it couldn't be destroyed at that time.

It is explained in the light novels. But in a nutshell over 200 years passed in the Underworld. During that time Kirito and Asuna ruled the planet and advanced it's technology to the point of space travel and colonies of world. Remember the entire world is based on the Seed and the world is partially self creating. It can be whatever you want it to be within the parameters you give it and it will extrapolate beyond those parameters when they are exceeded. As to why they came out in space, that is artistic liberty. There is no reason for them to be in a town much less in space and it isn't explained. If I were to make an educated guess is that in other VRMOO's featured in SAO it is common for you to log in at one point and then be transported down to the starting area afterwords. You see this in modern games today where the character creation screen is actually a boxed zone within the game that isn't accessible by players thus allowing the game engine to be used easily in the creation process. Considering that the Underworld isn't a game but more of a experiment you can argue that the starting point being in space makes logical sense as you can observe developments on the planet without interfering.

What even is the Abyssal Horror? It just appeared out of nowhere and started to attack everyone and nobody stopped to ask or explain what it is or how it got there
Basically, there is a mountain range that surrounds the Dark Teritorry, and when Kirito passed it using the Mechadragon (these planes Laura and Stica use) he encountered magical beasts. After that, he colonized another planet called Admina. Original planet is called Caldina. And while he either defeated or bargained with them, Abyssal Horror, which is one of 16 Legendary Space Beasts couldn't be reasoned with. This is probably around 100 years after WoU. Star King even fought it twice and nearly defeated it, however it always escaped in that small form you see Alice destroying. And Abyssal Horror entered the orbit of Admina once a month, and that was when no people went to space, due to a history of them getting attacked by the beast. However for some reason, when the Integrity Pilot commander who was on Caldina asked if Abyssal Horror was in space, people at Admina said no, and he sent Laura and Stica to a mission iirc. And you know the rest what happened from the anime.
It's continuing in the light novels, so we should see a new season in one or two years, it's gonna be great with lots of character development for a lot of side characters including Klein, Yui and Argo, and we also get introduced to Agil's wife but no spoilers from me 😉
