    What a day! Those redfish were really giving you a workout. Thanks for showing the lures used, I will have to try a gold spoon more when I can make it back to the marsh. So effective! Another great video !

      Thank you Captain Sloane!! Gotta get together for some of this soon. Along with po-boys, daiquiris, boudin and maybe even a late batch of boiled crawfish. If not, for sure chargrilled oysters!! Cheers.

      Fun video to ‘make’ that’s for sure. Nothing like those drag ripping reds.
      Cheers and good luck at your end.

    May have to check this place out, went to west cove recently and had zero bites. Keep up the videos i enjoy watching them.

      Thanks a lot! I like West Cove a lot as well. Just don’t get there very often.
      Reggio definitely worth the trip. Look for Schooner Canal on the map and head there only about 1/2 mile from the launch. Can fish all along it and in and out of the duck ponds.
      And stop at Lancaster’s on way out - used to be called Last Stop Cafe. They have hot roast beef po-boys that are perfect!!
      Thanks for watching.

    Awesome video! Wish I could learn when to throw that spoon and spinnerbait better. Had a trip to grand isle where I slayed on a spoon, but back in Alabama I’ve never had a spoon trip like it.

      Certain areas down here really do well with the gold spoon. Reggio top of that list. And usually catch bass as well.
      Grand Isle so fun. Also good with gold spoon. I did an experiment down there with gold vs. silver spoon. Amazing differences. 75% more caught with gold.
      Lots of older videos from down there about 3 years ago. Hope to get back soon.
      Enjoying your videos. Keep it up!

    Wow those hooksets are crazy!😄 Tell us about the rod and reel set up please!

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hook sets quite fun on those reds!
      Baitcaster is Lew’s Speed Spool and I vary the speed ratio. Usually 7.5:1 or 8.3:1. I like having good retrieval speed for those reds. On Ugly Stik GX2 6’ medium rod.
      Spinning gear: Okuma Stratus V spinning reel 3000 series. On Ugly Stik ELite spinning rod 6’.
      All very inexpensive and the rods don’t break. Not sure Okuma still makes that spinning reel, but their reels are excellent for lower prices than most.
      All of this is also pretty light gear for big reds. I use for trout also and enjoy the feel and fight.
      Cheers!

      What line are you using on spinning setup?

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Pbo-q4q I use FINS WindTamer braid - hi vis pink ( the pink was an accident, but I’ve grown to really like it because I can see the line move so easily!).
      15 lb braid tied to a 14 lb fluorocarbon leader!
      Works great for me.
      Light and casts very well. Extremely strong and durable.
      Cheers!

    Man you're crushing them!
    I went down to Hopedale this past Friday and caught five nice reds and kept three. Gonna cook em on the halfshell.

      Hello Jared! Man I can’t wait to catch up on your videos right after this. I watched the long boat ride trout smack down and forgot to comment.
      Reggio a fun spot. The kayak had some repairs and so glad to be back out there. Redfish as much as possible, and then bream on other days. Can’t beat it.
      Cheers and good luck at your end. I know you’ll be catching them!!

      Thanks Paul! One heck of a place. That entire area down there with Shell Beach, Hopedale, Delacroix and Reggio just so good.
      Thanks for watching.

    Dam. I was there Friday and didn’t get that many bites. Great day

    • @ThePentUpAngler

      I hit the duck ponds right away and probably could have just stayed in there and caught. At first the water was low and they were tailing everywhere. I don’t often see that actually.
      Then I found a couple of slightly deeper bayous or cuts and they were loaded. Just kept going back and forth.
      A day where I wish there was 48 hours of sunlight. Would stay out there forever and so much good area to fish.
      Keep it up and lay into them again soon. Good luck.

    How far down Schooner did you have to go to get to that deeper water?

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pretty far down Schooner - about 1 mile. There are some cuts into the duck ponds that hold deeper water. But not always accessible due to having to go through very shallow water/mud if tide is low. Lots of times there are fish right at those cuts directly off of Schooner.

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep! Hope to get back out there soon. Glad about the new limits. More of a challenge to get inside that slot and also will gradually help build up the population even more! Definitely great to throw back all over 27”. Would have even been fine with only keeping 3 in the slot.
      See you on the next one soon!
