    Awesome video! Wish I could learn when to throw that spoon and spinnerbait better. Had a trip to grand isle where I slayed on a spoon, but back in Alabama I’ve never had a spoon trip like it.

      Certain areas down here really do well with the gold spoon. Reggio top of that list. And usually catch bass as well. Grand Isle so fun. Also good with gold spoon. I did an experiment down there with gold vs. silver spoon. Amazing differences. 75% more caught with gold. Lots of older videos from down there about 3 years ago. Hope to get back soon. Enjoying your videos. Keep it up!

    I went fishing the other day from the bank and only caught baby bluegill how do I catch the bulls?

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Lots of factors. The baby bluegill are so prevalent. Has a lot to do with time of the year. Definitely May-June great for bulls on beds. Sometimes simply dropping the bait deeper will get you away from the small ones and into bigger ones - especially during real hot temps. Hope you find some! Nothing like those big bulls on light gear! Cheers.

    How far down Schooner did you have to go to get to that deeper water?

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Pretty far down Schooner - about 1 mile. There are some cuts into the duck ponds that hold deeper water. But not always accessible due to having to go through very shallow water/mud if tide is low. Lots of times there are fish right at those cuts directly off of Schooner.

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep. Good advice. I was worried about that at the beginning. But the kayak is only 10’6” and is very thick. I also support it with a very thick pad on the tailgate that absorbs all stress and shock - and no movement. The pic is a little misleading - kayak is only about 3’ over the tailgate. Well over 50 trips and no issues. I think a slightly longer and less sturdy kayak would have issues. I’ll keep an eye on it. Cheers!

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No bass! Thought for sure I would catch some. This day overall was slower than previous trips recently. I think too many storms. Still such an awesome area. And when I have caught bass down there, it’s been when I’m in the Schooner Canal and casting into the little cuts and ditches that go back into the ponds and marsh. Some of those little cuts are deeper and that’s where those bass sit. Seems also like further down the canal the better. But I’m still learning. Good luck and hope to cross paths again. Cheers!

Perfect spot with plenty of space, parking and safe. Safe and easy to fish before sunrise or after sunset as well. Can fish those rocks right out in front and also some marsh and also cut across the bayou to some cool islands. All very close. Those big reds and Jack Crevalles come running through there late summer and early fall. So cool. You will see them blowing up on bait. How long does it all take to set up?

      Basic set up only takes about 25 to 30 minutes max. I add a few touches with the insulation and the big ice chest and adjust the kayak in the bed of the truck. 100% done easily in 45 minutes and I get the AC running as soon as possible to keep the inside setup cool. Some days better than others, but overall it’s not too bad and can actually be fun. Sure is awesome once all set up. So much more space than most people expect. I love it. Cheers!
