- As a teenager, I played the Milton Bradley game Axis & Allies 2nd Edition to death! In this Board Game Archaeology video, I dug out the game form the loft again to give you a demonstration of solo game play. The size of the video was too much for my computer, so it's been only basically edited, forgive me!
Turn One: 3:37
Turn Two: 50:41
Turn Three: 1:21:55
Turn Four: 1:42:40
Turn Five: 2:04:30
Game End: 2:27:44
Buy Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition here (not the one played in the video!): amzn.to/2BIBPzF (Amazon Affiliate link)

I've got a tear jerker right here! The young sons of my best friend (11 and 13, smart boys) were always quarreling and competing. So when I had them both over for a weekend, I introduced them to A&A Classic and let them play the Allies. I said: "This game is geared towards the Allies, so I will play the Axis. But I am experienced at this game, so if you don't work together, I will destroy you". After a round and a half where they didn't listen and went for their own glory... I humiliated them. We restarted and this time... they played as one slick machine. We -they- had such great fun. This was ten years ago, but I truly think that A&A and I really helped them bond.
Great story!
This is the version I would play as a kid against my dad, very cool that this game he played 20+ years before I was born is as fun now as when it came out. It's the only board game I've ever really loved. Thank you for showcasing this
Watched the whole thing as a way to learn how to play this game as recently picked up a 1986 version of the game. Excellent stuff! An epic gameplay walk through
Cheers! I am glad you enjoyed the video. It's a great game and I've had many hours of fun out of it. I hope you enjoy your game!
I’m an avid player of the board game version but not crazy about the 1942 online version because when I bought a British carrier and placed in the sea zone it said my fighter from eastern America could not land their yet it was in range and their was only one fighter on it and I think the transports are messed up in the online version
I have two classic a&a games
Good for you.
26:26 Infantry move at 1; a move on-to a transport is considered 1. They cant disembark until the next round. Great video, love seeing how others play this game.
This is not accurate. Infantry can load and unload in 1 turn as long as the transport is being moved by the active power.
@@iamjlav Wow! I have been playing wrong the entire time! I went back and read the rules and the example provided on page 27 confirms you can load and unload in 1 turn.
@@neptune4167 It's all good man. Now you can update your strategy. :)
@@neptune4167 tanks can load and unload and make a move after 🤯
Question. Whenever I`ve played this as America, Japan would always attack my Navy in Hawaii. When I wanted to attack to take it back my opponents wouldn`t let me bring in my transport from Eastern USA as they said it wouldn`t reach in 1 move. They couldn`t grasp the wrap around concept.
You've answered your own question. I think it says somewhere in the rules that the board is wrap around.
@@StormofSteelWargaming I`m sorry I was a little incoherent there. Can a ship go from the Eastern USA sea zone to the Western USA sea zone in one turn or two moves? My argument is that that the Panama Canal sea zone on the far left side of the board and the sea zone around Mexico on the far right of the board is the SAME sea zone, but my friend insists it isn`t one zone. American ships should be able to go to the Hawaiian sea zone in one move as well. Isn`t that correct or have I been wrong all these years?
I get you now. I think it's two moves as the Panama Canal creates two spaces. IIRC this may be in the rules, I lost my copy years ago though so I can't refer to them right now. But I think your friend is correct, it's two moves to get from the E USA to the W USA. Sorry!
In the later A&A Pacific+Europe games, they are separate sea zones on opposite sides of the board, so on this map there would be a four edge path from West US SZ to East US SZ
@@elijahshadbolt7334 Thank you for answering. I haven`t played those versions, but they look interesting. All the best.
Also you don’t place as many units as you wish at Karelia because it is only worth 3 ipcs and only the home factories are the only ones you place multiple units of if you did not know
Not in the official 2nd Edition rules. See section 7, 'Original Complexes give you unlimited capacity' axisallies.com/rules/axis-allies-rules-classic-2nd-edition.pdf It may have changed in later editions, but this is the set of rules I was using.
@@StormofSteelWargaming but if the Germans capture the Karelia factory their you can only place 3 units in the following turn if they capture Russia then it’s 8 units a turn
@@TheSultan79 yeah, but if you own it you can place as many as you like on it.
@@StormofSteelWargaming I’m sorry it does not work that way
@@StormofSteelWargaming I think that they are called original complexes and new complexes if you capture the Russian Karelia complex you can place up to 3 so the Karelia complex would be a new one as well as the Russia complex where you can place up to 8 units after the next round but I liked your video anyways
I really like this explanation but I wish the camera wouldn’t flicker with green somethimes
Thanks, that was an old a rubbish camera that I was using. It's been upgraded for a long time now though.
@@StormofSteelWargaming great!
@@StormofSteelWargaming Also the reason I watched this is becuase my father found this in his basement and we wanted to play it!
@@Star-xs1jz excellent, it's a great game, I've had many fun hours with it. I hope you enjoy it
make more videos on the old game
So there is no artillery in this version?
Nope, this was long before artillery was a thing in A&A. It came in later editions.
Whares the Japanesse sub in the solomons?
Its submerged.

i had thought there was a rule about economic victory of 45 ipc. is that just for allies because if so i could back the united states into mexico and allow the uk to take over w usa and e usa
The Axis can win if they have a combined IPC income of 84 at the end of a turn.
