Thank you for making this video, you've saved me a lot of time. I got some comp seats but they're from a 2019 vehicle and I just happened to come up on your video. Just a question though, why is it that a new buckle is needed too? (The part with the button to release the seatbelt is what I'm referring to)

I do not know, something about the change in the way the car senses whether the seat is too far foreword. It’s my belief that pre mid-2015 cars will not fire the airbag if the seat is all the way forward and that this function was later deleted. This changed the wiring of the buckle receptacle. In short, I tried it without replacing the buckle and it gave me an airbag light. Then when I replaced the buckle with the newer one the warning went away.

@@RecordsRebuilds I just did the swap this past weekend. 2019 seats in a 2015 z06 early production car. I had to take the seat harnesses from my original seats, including the belt buckle and use them on the new seats. For the passenger seat sensor, I used the one from the old seats, and just duct taped as best I could in the same location (since new seats don't have the bracket for the sensor). Everything working fine

Wow. When I got the wrong year comp seats I swapped the whole seat bottom to get it working

Do you happen to have the part number for that early year harness and sensor that was clipped to the bracket ?

I’ll check tonight, but I believe I put all part numbers in the video.

@RecordsRebuilds thank you I'm trying to make a harness to remove air bag light for my recaro race seats lol

I'm wanting to put these seats in a C6 Corvette and wonder if those sensors even need connected and what is needed other than the seats

I am sure you don’t need the sensors from the C7. I know people have done this, I don’t know if anyone had gotten the C7 seat features to work in a C6.

Good job. I'd like to find 2016 z06 competition seats for mine. Gm products only

I call bull shit. You're gonna change all that back for a long drive. I don't think so.

Hahahaha, now that the seat is wired correctly for my car you just unplug the wiring harness connector and 4 bolts. You really swap them easily in under 30 minutes. However, I’ve found the Comp seats so comfortable that I use them for long drives anyway. In summary… you were correct, thank you, your wisdom is noted :) I still like having the GT seats in my basement for playing video games.
