Perfect timing. Just came back from round. Lag putts and long putts really good as been practising them a heap. Missed way too many 3-5ft putts. Soul destroying when you knock 30 ft putts close to the hole to only miss them. Will give this a go!
That would certainly suck. Hope this helps when you play a couple of them… also, do what Monty did.. hole as many 2 foot putts for confidence as you can. The. 3, 4 etc. aim for 20-50 without missing
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf question Alex,I average 125 ball speed (Driver) with a 70 g Hzrdus shaft, would changing to a lighter 60 g shaft make any difference ?
Great video and it addresses my problem's as well, it's all about me decelerating through the putt, the practice routine of placing the foot as a stop should help me too. Thanks for the tips.
Much needed advice, remembering it all when I get to the practice green is the hard bit.I will make a note of the points and try to remember to take it with me.Thank you.
Missed short putts my nemesis!! Def end up very cramped over ball and try and force the ball into the hole. Need to stand taller and try and rotate a bit more
I occasionally miss those silly short putts that, as I walk up to it I’ve already given myself it inmy head. Stay focused and concentrate over every putt….
standing taller ? Jack Nicklaus , the most successful golf player of all the times, was bending extremely while putting. The true is that a golf player must try different postures and then chose the one that suits him better
the most frustrating reason why I miss short putts is that the holes are not moved often enough by green keepers and a depression is formed around the hole by long term foot traffic.
I've been pretty good on putts under 8' because I'm constantly practicing on my mat at home. Anything outside of there has been tricky this year. I did just switch to left hand low last round and it felt great. Had been alternating grips in practice sessions and finally got the nerve to do it in my last round. 29 putts, better feel, and I've broken 90 the past 3 times I've played. The real test comes this weekend when I'll have the opportunity to play one of the top courses in New York and I can try it on faster greens! Thanks as always for the tips Alex! I'll try standing a bit taller and check my grip pressure 😎
@@_dboy_ I did a video about distance control a few weeks back. Check that out too. Best of luck and just enjoy the round, try different shots have have only one abstract swing thought… like a finish, getting through, tempo etc
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf well I'm proud to say I shot an 86 on a tough course I'd never played. Got off the tee probably better than I've done since I used to play in highschool. Definitely the best since I started playing again. There were huge tricky greens so I had some long putts. My boys were amazed at how well I was lagging them close. I did 3 putt a couple birdie chances, but it definitely wasn't due to speed control issues. The cross handed thing is gonna be huge for me I think. My ball striking was very good all around, but my wedges and chipping weren't great. I suck out of bunkers normally and did pretty well the few times I was in there. Still leaving them too short but they all got out and left me par putts. So anyway just wanted to say thanks because you always take the time to respond. I ended up beating my 2 friends who almost always beat me, and normally have to give me strokes. They didn't today and I got them both by at least 6 strokes, and won our group match too. The place was beautiful. I feel like if I had hit my wedges and chips as I normally do and made a couple of the about 6 putts that lipped out or just missed by an inch I could have broken 80 for the first time in over 15 yrs. Only had 2 doubles and the rest of the holes were bogeys or pars. Only lost one ball too which is great for me lol. Sorry if you had to read that whole thing Alex, didn't intend to make a novel out of it! Things are trending up just before it gets too cold to play! Thanks for listening to my TED talk. 😎🤣
Put an alignment stick on your sternum and grip the other end on your putter grip, it’s the feeling you need to create. Rotating around the sternum keeps the putter head closer to the ground and shallowing the angle of attack. So the ball will start rolling quicker with less spin. It makes distance control a lot more predictable. Happy putting
For the art of simple golf you are certainly making it way too complicated sir. Resort to Harvey Penick’s tips on putting on where to line up over the ball and then refer to Lee Trevino on how to grip the putter ring it out like a towel equal pressure with both hands and then refer to George Gankas tic-toc tempo regardless of length of putt and then back to Lee Trevino for never missing the short putts by moving the lead foot forward and shortening the backstroke. You’re welcome everyone who reads this I haven’t missed a putt since implementing these simple techniques.
Thanks for the great tips and drills
No problem 👍
Hi Alex
Can’t thank you enough for this lesson. Exactly addressed my problem. Saved about 7-8 strokes today!!

Great tips! what model of putter is that?
Great stuff Alex. Perhaps I might start sinking my putts as I was sure doing what you said not to!
What great tips!
Glad you think so! ⛳️👍
How would this concept of the acceleration stroke work out on fast greens?
Same:) just keep tempo
As my putting for the time being is a disaster - you know, 3-puts all the way round :( I'm sure your drill will make solid improvement :) Thanks.
I think it just might;) let us know how it goes!
Send this to Rory!

yes but greens were different and putters balance too
Jack Nicklaus was hunched over and he wasn't to bad with the putter.
All my golf coaches told me ….follow trough……but you maybe right cause I watched Pros on PGA and their forward push is short compare to amateurs…
Which putter are you using?
This is an older video. LAB putter
Quick send this to Rory urgently
😂🏌🏽💪
Jack Nicholas was always hunched.

isn´t the "stop" immediately after impact an even more decelerating? Maybe it is wording, but this sounds like a massiv decelerating into the ball?
Does rotating not encourage closing the putter face through the putt?
It's very subtle. THe lead shoulder goes up then rotates
Rory should have studied this before he teed off sunday in us open
Ah he’s a better than most on the planet:) he will win one very soon
I feel like this one is just for me lol

I can’t see or feel the difference between rocking the shoulders and rotating the sternum.
It can be enough to just be aware of not too much up and down with shoulders
