I have to say that you absolutely take your time. So methodical with every wrap of thread and material. I have seen on some of your other videos where you use nail glitter. I have just gotten into that myself and watching you apply it taught me a great lesson. If I may suggest one thing; if you plan on fishing this fly, put some Zap-A-Gap on the hook shank to help secure the wire from turning on the shank while fishing. Sometimes thread just doesn't hold it in place very well. Other than that, two thumbs up from me.
I really like this so much. Because i haven't got to tie in so long. I love how it feels like im tying the flies because I can hear all the sounds i would hear when I'm actually tying❤🥹keep up the awesome work!
Ahhh, the venerable Bugger; it's probably caught more fish than any other fly. Take your tag end of the wool out over the eye... you won't have to build up as much thread to even out the body then. Love your vids!🤠
If you put your lead wire in a bobbin and use that to wrap the hook shank you can save a lot of waste and not be overly wasteful by having to cut a lot off
@shetiesflies I even have spooled a spool of monofiliment line and use a bobbin with it. I like mono for spinning g deer hair. It does not break, does not cut the hair, and holds better. I use either 4 or 6 pound test.
A question? The flies are beautiful, if ordered are they reusable? Not a fly fishing gal but want to know if someone ask. Your work and videos are amazing.
No plans to sell at the moment, just love creating and sharing little moments of calm 💙 Typically, flies are reusable for at least a few fish (species dependent)
Tie better flies faster with Nor-vise check out inventor Norm Norlander here on TH-cam! I started tying traditionally and after about five years I switched to a Nor-vise and have been tying on it for about 35 years now and absolutely love it!! Thankfully mine was made by Norm, unfortunately he has passed on. What a Great Guy to deal with I sold his vises and accessories in my Fly Shop!
I think these are nice colours for salmonids like brown and rainbow trout especially Brook trouts. I've had very good catches with these colour combination when fishing with a spoon or soft lures.
Hi Garrett! I do actually fish 😊 You’re absolutely right, the color choice on this one wasn’t particularly practical, but a fun tie for me and visually interesting. Thanks for watching!
Most innovative fly tying I've ever seen, been tying myself for over 65 years, love your work!
Thank you so much, Ken! That means more tha you know, especially coming from someone who has been tying for so long!

@@shetiesfliesI'm really looking forward to it
Love the colors! A mono or wire rib can really help the hackle durability with toothy fish.
I really appreciate that! Excited to try the rib in the future for a more durable fly! 💙

do you sell these or just make them for yourself? they feel like little art works lol
Just really wanted to share something I love doing. No plans to sell anything as of now 😊
I think the worst thing someone can do is take a hobby they love and turn it into a job.

Whatever you want it to be 😊

Fun video but the color choice has no practical application. Do you actually fish or did you just find a new kind of “ art “ to try?

Bet it would catch a steelhead or two..
jfc you must be sooo fun at parties🙄
“It’s a nice gun, I’ll give you that. But the engravings give you no tactical advantage whatsoever.”
