    Anything from the Ugaritic findings in the book?

      So Jews took the story of Apkallu and turned it into that of Jonah

      @OksintasObones seems the moses epic was also borrowed from the mayan cultures.

    My guy you do realize there are stories of the great flood from all around the world? Over 266 different ones in fact. And I have to ask, what parts of the bible contradict exactly?

      There are so many of them that there is a word for it: "doublets". The Hebrew bible has a tendency to tell the same story twice with contradictory details. The christian Bible is no different. The book of Mark (which was the first written off the four gospels) makes no mention of Jesus meeting his apostles after his resurrection. In fact it ends with an empty tomb that two women run away from in fear. There is no description at all of any resurrection or ascent into heaven. The latter writers apparently didn't like that ending so they added in some fun stories about people poking their fingers through Jesus' wounds and then watching him fly away. I'd call that a contradiction.

      Good day to you,
      What you refer to as doublets is a typical element in Hebrew and ancient Poetry in general. When there is a change then it is not a contradiction but a stylistic development. It is very important for our understanding of the text to pay close attention to those details. I would refer you to the work of Robert alter or dr Michael S Heiser especially Alters work on Hebrew poetry or narative is very interesting.
      To your second point. It is in fact so that many Believers throughout the first 4 hundret Years of the church referenced the last part of Mark. i.e. Clemens of Alexandria, Origenes, Eusebius, Papias (100 A.D.), Justin Martyr (151 A.D.), Irenäus (180 A.D.)
      A overmelingly number of NT manuscripts (1800 Manuscripts) have the last part of mark included in them.
      Only two Manuscripts Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sinaiticus have it not included but both of them are very flawed. Codex vaticanus end in verse 8 but the one who wrote it left a large blanc space which would fit Verses 9-20 so it seems like he was uncertain in his manuscript if he should include it or not or at least it seemes like he knew of those verses and decided for whatever reason not to include them. In case of Sinaiticus was the double page with the end of Mark and the beginning of luke removed and four pages put in after the fact. On those pages the one who editet the manuscript wrote the end of mark with huge spaces in between lines and painted the page till the end so nobody could write on it after his edit.
      I wanna thank your for your comment because now I was forced to think carefully about the gospel of mark and look at different perspectives.
      Greetings and Blessings from Germany Alex

      BTW I like ur podcast Derek...and I'm really wondering when u guys are gonna just take the next logical and rational step, and consider bringing on guests such as Dr Steven Greer, Billy Carson, Grant Cameron, Graham Hancock etc who could illustrate how advanced civilizations, perceived as the Gods, were very likely the origin of these Biblical and extra biblical myths as they interacted with and-or educated our earliest civilizations on how to create educated societies capable of sustaining themselves...
      that might place into better perspective the whole biblical narrative, if we can just accept that we are veryyyyy likely not the most advanced group of people in this area of space...and that some other groups of people have been around a lil longer than us, and helped to jumpstart our society...I mean honestly which one is more likely:
      A: there are magical ppl floating in the sky
      or
      B: there's a group of people down the road who are a lil ahead of us
      some people might call them the ELohim in the very same way that ppl from another neighborhood down the road might one day call us the ELON-ohim...thanks to SpaceX...
      and if that were to occur what do u think we would do to jumpstart their civilization???
      A: give them some basic rules to live by
      B: teach them how to fish and farm
      C: teach them how to read and write
      D: teach them how to build things like housing
      E: and maybe get a lil cheap labor out of them in the process to help ELONs stock price
      in the year 2023 I don't see this concept as being unlikely in any sense of the word...so why don't we place that book into a more proper perspective, and a podcast such as Mythvision would be perfect for that type of discussion...I mean we can only debate the "did Jesus live or not" topic for so long, perhaps we could debate "why the hell did Jesus's friend take off in a UFO"...lol
      anyway great show Derek...cheers!!!

    Interesting enough Enoch was the 7th from Adam and ascended to heaven. UTUABZU one of the apkallu was the 7th from ADAPA and ascended to heaven as well. It’s not that the flood stories are the same it’s the genealogy as well

    Megan sounded almost Dublin Irish during the intro, usually to my ear has a straight BBC corespondents accent, global and academic. Is that an Irish connection slipping out or similarities with a localized English accent?

    3D = Materialism = Idols
    In short that's trinity

      @Sticky Steve The 1st one I wrote was deleted that's why I was surprised and kind of offended. Obviously how would you know... I know because I wrote it. It began by saying "it's very simple"...

    • @MrFreezook
      @MrFreezook 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sticky Steve As much as they want to be honest , they still have a lingering of what they previously were... That's why 1 is Agnostic and the other is Christian.

    • @MrFreezook
      @MrFreezook 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sticky Steve Yeah my comment was addressing that lingering. and they deleted it.
      I wrote :
      It's very simple,
      3D = Materialism = Idols worship
      In short that's trinity
      that's why 3 is so important to them.
      because they are in 3D and so they think God also can be 3D. While in reality God is not 3D coz 3D is the creation and not the Creator.
      The main message of all the prophets (In Abrahamic faith) was not to worship the creation and to worship the Creator.
      But the wrong doers still made statues , pictures and symbols to represent God and said we only pray to make those to make us closer to God... this in fact is worshiping the wrong thing and making more than 1 God.
      Aka "Shirk" in Arabic. The term shirk in Islam is used to refer to idolatry or polytheism, which meansdeification, or worship of deity, gods, or anything other than Allāh.
      Of course I didn't write all this I only wrote a short version of this without even mentioning Islam and the term Shirk.
      In other words, Trinity didn't begin with Christianity ,,, It was all along with the ancient Egyptians and the Greeks + the Romans then Finally was transferred to Christianity.
      and I'm not even mentioning the Indian religions.

    • @MrFreezook
      @MrFreezook 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sticky Steve Wong , All Religions are false except one. You're just another victim of those false beliefs. Islam is Truth. It the one that is most attacked, The most miss-understood by outsiders, You don't have to answer me. Just do your own research. You have Speakers' corner and #dawah in general.
      Without Religion there is no Morality / no right or wrong. so who are you to say whats primitive and whats not. denying religion is denying humanity and being humane.
