I actually feel sorry for HBox, considering that he gets boo'd very frequently and the fact that he got a crab thrown to him, which could have ended horribly. However, looking at his reactions when the crowd gets mad at him, I must give him respect and props as well for being rather quite collected while facing hate from one of the biggest fighting game communities that exists as of currently.

If someone tries to tell me what my opponent is trying to do, i take it the crowd thinks either I'm too dumb to read, or I'm not a good enough player and someone feels bad for me. And that's the worst. It might just be me as a person who might be too prideful, but if you make it to finals, it's probably because you deserve to be there. not because of pity. And pity is not how you win.

The Crusader you can’t exactly adapt to puff in melee, her mobility in the air is greater than every other character, and up throw to rest shuts down approaching. Not saying hbox deserves to get insulted and for his mental health to get jabbed at but, melee puff is infuriating.
The guys got an ego where he thinks he's unbeatable and the best smash melee player. Most of his tactics is hit and run. And any player better than him, he'll run out the clock and camp all match. He won majority of his tournaments that way. It shows that he's only in it for the prize money and that goes against everything Sakurai stands for when creating the series. He says he "respects" the game but disowned ultimate, saying Nintendo should support the melee scene awhile ignoring WHY Nintendo doesn't cause of the shitty community. Just cause you use one of the most broken characters in the game to camp and win your tournaments for the prize money awhile calling your self "The face of melee smash" doesn't exactly win respect.

Smash crowds can be pretty terrible sometimes (as we see in this vid) but the crowd cheering for hbox after the crab was thrown at him was really nice
He deserves it. I think Hbox can be boring as hell and I wouldn't consider myself an Hbox fan at all but it's undeniable Hbox is amazing at the game and deserves to be respected. I don't approve at all of people verbally abusing and throwing things at him just because he's good at Melee.

When that guy threw a lobster at Hungrybox, I was so mad. His reaction is justified.
That HBox Crab one is really heartbreaking, look at how his shoulders fall with disappointment at how he is being treated as... I had so many times in friendly competitions when everyone rooted against me, being shouted things and such and having bad things daid about me but never to this extent. Think about it man, this guy is in a big crowd and like all of us he is only just playing the game he likes he is enjoying himself. No matter how much you try to smile, act positive, just one bumo can ruin your mood. Our minds are programmed to see negativity first. Him choking up while saying "How hard I worked up here" really shattered my heart, some people just see others as machines with no dreams no emotions. I know some of them sre in this commentsection too. I just hope HBox realizes how much he has impact on his fans, positive one to be exact. For myself neberh, never have I ever played nor watched smash, yet just hearing about this LEGEND'S story up to this point I can relate to some extent with him. Rooting for you legends. That was just terrible. Winning that match should've been a great moment for him, but instead he gets a goddamn crab thrown at him. And for what? Because he plays a certain character in this video game? Man this community can be fucking pathetic sometimes. And besides even if Jigglypuff isn't the most interesting character to watch, HungryBox is a legendary player and it took him a lot of work to get where he is now. But according to the Smash Community crowds, lame character = you're a bad person and you deserve to be exiled from society. He knows the dark side of the community better than anyone, and it seems like he's used to it at this point, but that guy was on another level with that crab bullshit. You could tell he was genuinely pissed at that and rightfully so. @@AidanqtFeesh He's actually relatively fine now, but most people didnt like him because of how lame and campy he used to play. He also had a very fake personality and tried to act like someone he wasn't (awkward guy kinda trying to act big). He also doesnt play friendlies. His popoffs are also quite boisterous which rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Nowadays hes turned around from what I've seen though. Not my favourite player but cool guy nonetheless.
@@cookster69 he still camps when he knows he needs it to win but only plays normally when he doesn't think he needs to camp to win. Just watch his close sets recently you'll see what I'm talking about

@@Himadpeoples Yeah he definitely still plays campy in many situations, but absolutely nothing like how he used to. Hbox would definitely still camp to win but he only does it when its optimal. Meta has changed. Puff is a campy character, just the nature of her. Other players like M2K camp as well and its super lame of course but you have to respect it because they're trying to win like anyone else.
As someone who went to the tournament where the crab was thrown I saw someone in the crowd throw it. I think they were wearing a baseball hat and he was sporting a plaid sweater.

I've seen the Hbox clip a lot, but I've never seen how upset he was afterward. Genuinely makes me feel really bad for him, he doesn't deserve all the hate, he worked really hard for those victories

If you look at videos about people raging in smash, you can see the potential they have. Sure it's fine to be upset, but you can't straight up insult somebody or break something. Its worse then you think it is.

To be fair, this is pretty much the whole FGC, not just smash. People in competitive anything tend to get really riled up when money's involved.
