All of them were nice guys in the neighborhood and school. Darrell and Vince were especially popular at Bowie H.S. Vince made the high school band cool. I'd love to see video of drum line at half time during football or basketball games 80-82. Darrell won all of the talent shows.

The way his cover of eruption is so accurate. Back then one had to listen to the record over and over to learn a song.. Lucky if you got to watch the live concert. Shows how dedicated he was. Now every kid with one year of guitar experience learns how to play eruption thanks to tabs and yt.

    • @knightfall9394

Dimes version of eruption is not accurate to what ed originally did, there’s a lot of parts and licks he glossed over and simplified. Personally i like dime’s interpretation, he did his own thing with it and still had the evh vibe/flair going

      They never were glam .
Just because they had big hair and tights pants , uncultured people retro actively the label on anything where a shitloads of bands were dressed like this or worse ( Loudness ...Overkill in 1982 ...) .
Pantera was , even in metal forces and stuff described as Heavy metal and ...Power metal a bit later .
They were at that crossover of Van halen , Def leppard , Priest , Raven etc... if you listen closely it have already a bit Thrashier edge in the Metal magic song and taking root already on Project in the jungle ( title track , Out for flood , Killers ..) and it got updated as albums were released .
I am the night then Phil came out then Power metal was released , evolution was made , but Phil harder edge. Made Everything more hard edged .

Even in the 90's after they got their first album deal they came back and played 2 occasions at the Sandpiper Lounge /Goochies stripclub. Went to a party at the same persons house both times and at about 4 in the morning its just me and Dime the last 2 survivors. It wasnt so strange the first time. But I let him know how ironic it was the second time cause it was just me and him like last time he was here, the only 2 troopers survivin. Then in 2003 I worked ozzfest in Dallas. Dime and vinnie were backstage but dime wouldnt even converse. Vinnie talked to me when I told him where and what clubs he didnt know me personally but knew my territory well. Needless to say when I told vinn8e about my buddys bad dream and for them to NOT GO PLAY ANY CLUBS I guess he just didnt remember.

If they ever had the chance or played like this 1 live show in Los Angeles, they would have got signed in less than a week and become the monsters of Glam metal as rumours would ve spread "Like fire"!
Living in Texas was detrimental for them coz it was like living 5 countries away from California so the Glam fame never took off..
