    Thanks to Mark Thomas, a scrapper here in Melbourne who found this item and letting me tear it down.
    Thumbs up if you think Mark should start up his own scrapping channel, he gets amazing stuff on a daily basis and would blow our minds if he showed us on video

      Hi Mr. Ben, thank you about this video that I remember my self when I dismantling first RRU before four years ago and I shocked like you now and I take 3 days to understand this technology of mobile !!
      Also some RRU come with silver coated sometimes copper coated Aluminum, and this ERICSSON brand but try to find ALCATEL Modules for me is the perfect !!

    Those *white power transistors sell for 25-30Euro used* any time!
    That module at 18:57 with two pins you are referring to is an input filter cavity resonator.
    That "chip" at 19:22 is in fact just a so called flat PCB inductor with a ferrite core. It is practically worthless. The almost empty aluminum is for power output filtering/wave guide. The screws are there to tune the size of the cavity in the aluminum, with which they can tune the resonant frequency for the microwave radio signal.

    Ben I have installed like this RRU this is basically connect your mobile to this base station, and from this unit it converted to fibre Optical cable. the yellow small cable is optical trans-reciever n you can pull it out by small lever down n pull it gently towards u thats called SFP module and you could sell it for good price if its not damage.

    Ben! You tease us with both boards by hiding the board while we look at the pretty cool heat sinks. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SCRAP WAS, AWESOME!!!
    I love to get satellite dish receivers, the ones attached to the roof. (I don't know if you have those down under) They have a lot of tork screws too and have not as good but similar plating. I'm partial to them because it was the very 1st thing I ever scrapped!!!

    I need to bring a precision here: the two big plugs are not fiber optics, they are high frequency coxials, more or less like your TV antenna plug. The thin yellow wires on the side are the fiber optics. The other plug must be power supply. I would love to take apart such stuff, but they are unombtainium so far in flea markets, and also rare on tbey, in particular at very low prices.

    that part that has all the screws that's radio wave guide. and the part you keep saying is the fiber part is for cables that go to either a dish or antenna and those bolts are for tuning the radio waves.

    If the RF transistors (with the white ceramic caps) is from Infineon (with an “i” on the cap) then there is a high chance that there is some gold wires in them.

  • @KD0CAC
    @KD0CAC 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ben , haven't read through all the other posts , but the cast alum. with what you were thinking may be silver , is a type of filter , cavity filter , as many points RF [ not optical ] is manipulated by dimensions , like coax - coax has specific impedance - this stuff in most likely 50 Ohm , What makes coax 50 , 75 etc. impedance is the dimensional relationship between the 2 conductors - the center wire & outside shield , and the plastic between .
    RF is cool .

    The RRH is used for microwave backhaul. Here in the states.

  • @gortnewton4765
    @gortnewton4765 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a microwave transceiver, those 'channels' are waveguides, the microwave energy is received by the antennas and travels along the waveguides, being filtered by those odd-looking polished items which are inductors and capacitors (they have screws to make them tunable). When frequencies are up around 1 GHz to over 3 GHz, electronics starts to look more like plumbing. Everything is silver plated due to 'skin effect' (current travels in the skin of the metal and not deep inside) which reduces impedance (which is like resistance, but applies to AC). The silver is usually only microns thick and won't be worth any trouble to remove. But for fun you might want to send the silver items to auction and see what happens. The power transistors on that gold-plated board are probably worth $200 to $300 EACH. I didn't see it, but I would have expected a precision clock (often worth $150 to resell) somewhere. They are temperature stabilized and are so precise that they are almost as good as atomic clocks.

    That big round thing at the roughly 19:00 minute mark looks to be an RF filter. That should have a heavily gold plated item in it. On that housing with the zillion screws, pop one of those polished domes off if you can they are likely silver. Under it you may find a small RF filter. Your magnet test might have found the magnets inside the filter and not steel.
