I have two Kanilea tenors and a Rebel Double Creme. If I had bought the Double Creme first, I probably wouldn't have the second Kanilea. It's that good' IMHO - it plays and sounds great. I've been playing guitar since 1969, so I think I have developed a pretty good ear over time. If you have a chance to get one, I think you will be very pleased with it. The mango figuring on mine is beautiful!
I’ve owned the Cheesecake for almost two years and love it. I was fortunate enough to play all the Rebels before choosing this one. The mango is definitely beautiful and I was initially afraid the Cheesecake would lack volume but after finding it had plenty of punch it’s the one I took home. Getting strings which match the original was difficult at best but I’ve managed to find strings that I really like. Personally I don’t think you can make a mistake by choosing either one but unlike you, Alex, I really don’t like the case. Like Boz says, “It reminds me of a pencil box I had in the first grade.” 😂 Fortunately Kala makes a case that protects it perfectly. Thanks for an excellent review, Alex. I always enjoy them! Wes
Hi, I fancy Rebel Ukes but I got nice tenors from Romero Creations, Flight and Cocobolo already - I would love to have a baritone from Rebel. Maybe they think about a model!
I love the mango tonewood with the fluorocarbon strings. Such a great sound. It's got that bright tone without the high end bite. I bought a mango pono a while back that came with nylon strings. I was pretty disappointed with the sound until I changed them out for fluorocarbon. Would love to try out one of the mango rebels someday.
Those mangoes are beautiful, it's hard to say I've never held the slim line, if the full size is the same depth as the KoAloha Mango tenors, I really liked the feel of those.
I love the Rebels. They all sound good. What is your ranking regarding the loudness of these four? Or the other way round: which one needs the lightest touch to produce a certain level of projection?
The Double Cheeae is definitely the Loudest. I had to hold back a bit when I played as it had a lot of attack when you strum a chord. Otherwise I couldn't really rank them, they are all similar.
I have just purchased a Creme Brulee slimline and absolutely love it.
I own a Mango Double Creme, Could not be happier with it . Great value for the price.
My fave! You don’t mention £!
I was absolutely thinking haven't heard about rebels in a while yesterday... Very tempting ukes as always! 😍

The mango wood is stunning. They do sound as good as they look. Am sure they won’t be around long. Thanks Alex have a great week.

I have a Rebel double crème tenor-neck concert. It’s lovely. I can see why Alex has a “thing” for mango.

Best headstocks in the game. Just found out about the Koaloha link as well

I’m with you, Alex, the fatter mango body is my preference, besides, I love mangoes. 😂
I know this video is about the ukuleles and not necessarily what's played but do you ever make tablatures for that you have played?
Part of the demo music in this video is called 'walk in the park' and there is a tutorial for it on TH-cam, on my ukes with Alex channel
Not fond of the narrow body sounds a higher pitch thinner sound
No prices they all sound the same like your shows
