Jed is the man, he is doing a great job. Love how he can keep things close to the vest.

You can't describe them as being analytically driven when you give Boyd 14.5 per year for 2 years and then turn around and offer Tucker $15M . There's zero analytical sense there.

    Look....
PREMIER PLAYER on a walk year... don't you think its smart for him and his camp to try and establish a higher value(as high as they can) just in case he ends up in FA? The higher the value in arbitration, the better chances of getting a bigger pay day in Free Agency.
They are not far from a goal but I don't assume Cubs are going to let anyone "stick it up to them" (like Kratz comments on Foul territory about arb negotiations).. so this is a negotiation as in any BUSINESS (people forget this is a business).
These things are like Home ownership.. when you are selling it(or selling yourself), you think its worth 300k, but when its time to pay your property taxes, you argue its only worth 150k. You look at it like you have a humble avg home, but the Tax District sees it as the "Buckingham Palace"
Players (and their agents) always over evaluate themselves like the tax district cause they want to get paid while the GM" and Owners of teams will undervalue (like the homeowner on tax season) players because they have to pay..
It's not uncommon, but it will get figured out.
Aaron Judge and the Yankees! Look it up and the end result.

Hi guys. I always enjoy your podcast. One suggestion. Sometimes you go a bit too long on one subject, like Tyler Zombro. Five minutes could have summed up that discussion not fifteen.

Lol the Cubs won' t even pay Tucker 17.5 million for one year and people think he's going to 400 million from the cubs? He's one and done here for sure.

I’ve got one question. Is it possible that both sides agreed to keep negotiating because the Cubs want to include 2025 as part of a long-term extension offer. It makes no sense otherwise, and it has already been an optical disaster. I’m not a gloom-and-doomer, so I want to find a positive view of this. My take is the Cubs are the only team that can negotiate with Tucker right now and most players don’t sign extensions once the season starts. So, this gives them 4 weeks or so to work out a big deal. If they don’t, then they will work it out before the hearing. I just want to know WHY extension talks that include 2025 can’t continue. Let’s say the Cubs offer 9 years, $350M, instead of giving him $17.5 million now and then offering 9 years $350 million. It gives the Cubs an extra year to play with while more than doubling his 2025 salary in the process. Just tell me why - and I don’t want to hear poverty Cubs comments - why they can’t do this.

I think a lot of what Tucker thinks of the Cubs will be based on how hard they’re actually trying to win and build a winning team. Wish they really aren’t trying to do.

Bring in Brett Taylor for a guest spot! Haha. The three of you together are by far my favorite Cubs/baseball minds. I'm super happy to see Sharma and Mooney podcasting again, regardless.

Cubs signed another #5 starter in Rea for 5M or so. But can't find 2M for Tucker. Jed is just a dumb person. We now have zero aces.

Jed is the biggest idiot I've ever seen run a baseball organization serious but it could just be Tom putting all kind of restrictions on what Jed can do it's not all Hoyer trust me!

Cubs plan is probably to hope they can win 88 games the division and have no chance after that . And if they hover around or under 500 they will trade Tucker at the deadline cause they have no intentions of resigning him . They will offer 260 mil low ball offer to him just to say we tried and knowing it’s gonna sister you 400-440 mil . I hope this team bottoms out wins 79 games dormant make the playoff . When you depend on rookies to save you and a bunch of ?marks to all hit and go your way you are never gonna win .
