Surely must have missed an oil change or two to get like that. Sounded very close to the chain jumping on the sprocket. Mercedes should have gone all gears for the timing on the 651 engine. There seems to be a fair few out there with noisy chains.
My Mercedes with the OM651 enige has 280k km on it. There are 4 disease with the coolant water most common and if the car loses oil, to change the valve cover gasket

For the whole replacement of parts you're looking at £300/500(it's recommended you replace the whole lot. (The extra £200 includes the camshaft timing gear?)Taking the engine out would be over 1K.

Had one that done that not all the time heard it maybe 4 times over 2years strange I sold it so don't no if something happened to it
