Thanks for being open and sharing your perspective on quantitative finance in such a personal way.

I also learned that doing deep work (i.e. model building / tuning, programming) is not very compatible with being a people manager / team builder. I've tried Cal Newport's Deep Work approach, and Paul Graham's Maker vs Manager schedule approaches... but it is hard to execute on the deep work pieces with many daily context switches. Meetings spread out through the day make it impossible for me.

From your description of feeling overloaded with mgmt and soft skills stuff, I can recommend the book “Who Not How” by Dr Ben Hardy and Dan Sullivan. It’s a bit “woo woo” but then Dr Ben brings the quantitative psychological studies into the mix and his long form content is very very good. Cus to me it sounds like all the non-quant stuff can be delegated to people who are excited about that stuff.

@dirtygiraffes512 no. Two employees are in office 4 days a week and myself and our new manager are in office 1 day a week.

Tell that to Altman and his circus of friends and developers that think they are a step away from AGI and the salvation of humanity
