UMPI grad here! I still watch your videos, I tell everyone I know about your channel. Starting my MBA program this summer at University of Texas at Dallas.
In Europe, there is a HUGE difference in how Universities are perceived when compared with Colleges. If you're looking to work in Europe, you need "University" on your diploma. However, in a university system, there are smaller divisions called colleges (think Cambridge University's "Magdalen College" where CS Lewis taught), If you go to a college that is *within* a university - you went to a university.
Interesting fact about Bellevue, it’s a partner school for Walmart’s Live Better U program. So essentially any full or part time hourly employees can enroll in Live Better U and Walmart/Sam’s will pay 100% of the tuition up front.
I'd love to see more love for the graduate level and higher degrees from this channel. For example, things like how portfolio submissions work and how they compare between different universities.
We’d do more grad stuff, but there just isn’t enough demand to justify the time/editing investment so far. But we do a few grad consultations a week now, so there’s help for anyone who needs it!
Just found out UMPI isn’t accepting my transfer credits from a trade school, mainly electives. 😢. Currently have 24 credits completed on Sophia need to get up to 90. Completed those in less than a month. Was so glad to hear you talk about those upper level credits, I was wondering if I could do that! Thank you for providing all this information and giving hope with great guidance to people.
If you mean they are accepting your credits only as electives, consider a liberal studies major! They should apply there because there is more space than in a structured degree :) You got this! 👏🏼
@@CollegeHacked unfortunately they are NOT accepting them as any type of credit (credits are from Universal Technical Institute). I was thinking they would accept them as electives. Also no credit for my work experience including 20 years of business management. I enrolled in their BLS with a minor in management. I just want to thank you both. You have helped me so much in narrowing down the schools and programs I want to attend. I found the information shared on this channel very valuable and credible. I just applied to UMPI!
Hello! I enjoy your channel. Was surprised to see my comment made it. I actually have forgotten what my point was 😂 I believe my point for a “hack” is having your employer pay for part of a degree. I’ve had help from employers on both masters. Thanks for what you do!
4:00: When you eventually get around to researching UWM, you’re not going to like what you find, lmfao! I’ve personally researched the shit out of it, and while up to 90+ CLEP credits are SUPPORTED in the IT degree, that same degree only has a 35% transfer rate for ACE credits in general (i.e., at best, only 14 CLEPs can fit in a BS, and only 7 CLEPS to an AS). Most of their degrees also do not support the DSSTs at this time. TECEPs might actually be a possibility (since they have been confirmed to accept FULL COURSES from TESU), but though don’t have a transparent policy in place for it yet.
Excellent! 🤩 It’s always great to hear good transfer credit stories, because that’s usually one of the downsides to WGU is if someone has transfer credit that doesn’t fit in the degree!
You should look at Salem University in West Virginia. You mentioned that potential students need to get the Clep/Sophia class credit complete BEFORE applying to LUO or SNHU? Is there a reason for this? Do online schools reject transfer credits after a student has only taken the step of applying?
WGU and LUO are the two main schools where sequence matters, they have some idiosyncrasies :) If you’re hacking on your own just make sure to call your school first and talk to them about your plan so you know the details!
Hey y'all, I really loved the video!! Wondering if y'all will ever do a video on UMGC? They have some pretty interesting programs of study, particularly the one that stood out to me was their BS in Homeland Security Degree Program because I haven't seen a lot of online universities have these types of niche/specialized degrees which I wish more online universities had, especially for someone who has a background in a niche/specific program like Homeland Security.
UMGC is on the list for a review! :) TESU has homeland, and it’s the only one on our usual list of schools that does, you’re right to say it’s rare! Would love another option to recommend, hopefully UMGC will be the one 😊

Dr. Stumme, I just found your channel the other day and i am so grateful for it. About 2 years ago i recieved my AA in psychology and tranfered to a large (and expensive) 4year university in my area. I had an awful experience there and dropped out, but after finding your channel i now have faith i can complete my degree quickly, inexpensively and while working full time. I have looked into UMPI regarding a bachelors in psychology and if all goes well, i want to obtain a masters in social work. I dont necessarily want to be a social worker, but i am very passionate about mental health and psychology as a study. Do you recommend i follow through with said area of study in terms of career opportunities or would it be better for me to switch my major so social work for a bachelors degree? I want something as hackable as possible though
Social work is a surprisingly hard major to find at a hackable school, but it’s the licensure that leads to complexity. If your goal isn’t necessarily to be a LSW, definitely recommend doing the psychology undergrad at UMPI and letting your experience with that inform your next step 😄
What is the best way to get a bachelor's as a way to set yourself up for graduates programs in the psychology/mental health field while also not having your bachelor's degree be worthless?
I think what you’re asking is if a major other than psychology can get you into grad psych/therapy programs, and the answer is yes 😄 If you Google Liberty University LPC, their therapy licensure degree will pop up. Once you look at the admissions requirements you’ll see they accept any major, no prereqs for admissions requirements needed. Not all quality schools are so lenient, but some are. As far as what major to go for, accounting or billing and coding are good ones.

WGU gives degrees to anyone with a pulse. Most of their degree programs can be completed in a few weeks, if that. I have no idea how they are accredited.
Great video! I found out Liberty University online will accept 90 of my previous credits towards a BS Interdisciplinary degree. I was initially very excited, but I'm not sure if I should commit to LUO because of recent negative press regarding 14 million dollar fines and that Hulu documentary regarding the former college president. Do I need to worry about LUO losing accreditation for this type of stuff? Or am I over thinking this?
This is an excellent question. The way we think about this issue and guide clients is to evaluate how the core issue the school is having might impact their personal education. In this case, the problem was with residential students and Title IX requirements. This is something that won’t impact your personal education, so that’s good. As far as brand name, the school is definitely not losing their accreditation. As terrible as what they did was (and thankfully they got called out and penalized for their actions), it was a part of the campus culture. Reputation wise, it’s never fun to have your school attract negative press, but it doesn’t automatically mean the whole school is bad. If they were in trouble for misleading students and poor academic standards, that would be a very different story. :) That said, everyone has to make their own decision about where to attend school and what they feel good about so it’s up to you!

Microbiology, Business Ethics, and Business Law. Business Ethics is of the three UMPI undergrad classes accepted for transfer into their MAOL. So if you want that conversion down the road make sure you take that one at the school instead of on Sophia :)
No, that’s not how US colleges work. Basically all schools will require 30 credit hours, or 10 classes, be completed through their school. Some, like TESU, Charter Oak, and Excelsior, will let you transfer in more than 90 credits, but ALL require some amount of classes through their schools.
I'm nearing the completion of my undergraduate studies in sociology at UAGC and I’m exploring options for online Master's degree programs in social work or mental health counseling. I'm specifically looking for programs that offer asynchronous learning. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions for reputable programs that cater to students transitioning from undergraduate studies? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.
Friends and business partners :) We were university faculty together for a few years while earning our PhDs and then teamed up again a few years after that for College Hacked!
Good hackable college for early childhood education? I have been in the field 10 years almost but need my degree to move up and im a busy mom with kids so im trying to do it cheap and fully online lol i have been looking with no luck so i thought i would ask
Liberty University has an excellent, asynchronous Early Childhood Education bachelors degree :) But if you don’t need that particular major and just need specific classes in early childhood education, you could do a build-your-own-major (chipotle degree) bachelors for less time and money. :)
Which school is best for accepting 100+ transfer credits with a low tuition and high grad rate: Franklin U, Excelsior or Charter Oaks? (And low residency requirements)

Pls recommend any no academic residence requirement college?
Liberty University has a great, asynchronous MSW and numerous other mental health degrees! :)
Thank you so much for your recommendation 😊
Are you two married? Or just business partners? Or both?
Friends and business partners :) We were university faculty together for a few years while earning our PhDs and then teamed up again a few years after that for College Hacked!
It’s a University
What about Bellevue University?
Pretty hackable! It’s on the list for a video :)
You are awesome!@@CollegeHacked
Good hackable college for early childhood education? I have been in the field 10 years almost but need my degree to move up and im a busy mom with kids so im trying to do it cheap and fully online lol i have been looking with no luck so i thought i would ask
Seems that you don't need the degree, you only need the corresponding knowledge to teach your kid. Then Coursera is the best option.
Liberty University has an excellent, asynchronous Early Childhood Education bachelors degree :) But if you don’t need that particular major and just need specific classes in early childhood education, you could do a build-your-own-major (chipotle degree) bachelors for less time and money. :)

Indeed!
Does every UMPI yourpace degree require you to do some field experience?
The BABA and BLS degrees don’t :)
