I personally found canvas is a great idea, however; It hasn't got a clue when it comes to coding! So I found the only one benefiting from this is the model learning code from your input. Let me explain I gave canvas a working code for a very small uncomplicated project, however; after canvas trying to fix an issue or add a function it got it all wrong! I also tested it's math and found it was far from reliable, even after giving correct results the AI could not get the calculation correct!
I assume, the problem is, that OpenAI but also other GPTs are trained with a bunch of average code, so they produce the same type of results.
You have to give it clear correctsions and instructions, to improve the output and/or correct errors. Also, bring a lot of patience in the case of a longer project.
@@romanwolkow6369 Hi Roman hope you're having a good day! I just feel If I have to take the time to train the model to give me the answers I need. Why would I not just write the code my self/ Then when it comes to a simple Pythagorean formula the answer should be correct! I mean after all this is 2024 and the formula has been around for centuries.

I can't use canvas. I see on the list and choose it but when it generates texts, even i select some sentences, there is not editing. only quote sign

I've tried using Canvas for simple story writing and sometime when I request it to make an edit to the document in canvas, it doesn't do anything at all.
Question here. I am based in Switzerland, have the paid version of GPT 4.0, but in the dropdown menu, there's no option for GPT 4.0 with canvas. Is my MacBook Air blocking it?
Could be! I have heard of this happening. I can't directly recommend it, but some Europeans use VPNs to get around it. Not sure if it's legal in your country or on ChatGPT though to be honest. 🤷♂️

the code part, does it work for bash and similar linux cli tools?
Sure it does, just ask it to give you the commands you need for the terminal or the bash tool.
Ask for that specific framework in your prompt.
is this on a downlaoded software version of chatGTP? do you need premium? Are you using hte web-based or software based verison? On the web version I cant find the interactive elements (shorter/longer, reading level, highlight to ask about a specific section, etc) but on the macOS verision, I cant even see the "with canvas" model. It is also not interactive for me, i cant edit the text in the reply area.

Hello everyone, i tried to play with canvas, uploaded my code file, approximately 1000 lines of code, and canvas didn't expand it all, it was 10 times shorter, so, i guess it's okay to work with short parts, like functions or something like that.

It didn't work at first using your prompt, had to write "Open in Canvas" and it did....
thats so weird. it didnt work for me either. it just looked like any other normal chat until I also specifically said "Open in Canvas"
Canvas not found that error how solve
This is only for single file coding, usually a program consist of hundreds of files and the are interelated, so can't use this canvas feature. Even my simple personal program also at least involves 5 files.
Hopefully they extend this to multiple canvases in a thread that can interact.

Go wider with your screen, maybe zoom out the browser
I'm in the same situation. I have the paid version of chatGPT and I use Google Chrome on my desktop computer. I have a wide monitor. I don't see this panel anywhere.
