Why Megadeth keep ignoring them?

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 2 ส.ค. 2024
- Megadeth has always been a band which tries to find a balance at their live concerts, play both most popular tunes, such as Symphony of Destruction, Peace Sells and A Tout le Monde, while still managing to play at least some tracks from their newest albums live. And yet with more than 170 songs in Megadeth catalogue, there are still quite a bunch of songs that the Metal legends have never played live, and if in case of some of them it's pretty understandable, others remain a hidden gem of the Megadeth catalog… so let's take a look at all of them!
We will discuss the songs Megadeth never played or rarely played from each of their albums, starting with Killing is My Business... and Business is Good! and up until The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead!, talking about the songs The Blackest Crow and The Conjuring, and songs from Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings and Dystopia that the band has never performed on stage, counting them all.
And which song out of the ones Megadeth never played live do you think the band should perform some time soon?
00:00 - Intro
00:31 - The journey begins
02:11 - Black magic
04:42 - More classics
08:43 - First conclusions
10:22 - Pattern changes
13:33 - Well, that's awkward
17:24 - The crow's flight
20:04 - The newest history

Have you ever seen Megadeth live? And do you plan to see the band on the upcoming 2024 tour?
2001 Finland/Oulu
2014 Finland/Oulu
2023 Finland/Oulu
All actually really good gigs.
Seeing them in Turkey!
No, and No
\m/ \m/
Saw them live in Rochester New York in 2022, I agree with you 100%! their set list was good for a first show but i was really hoping for some more deep cuts after seeing bands like Deep Purple, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden who all had amazing show set lists with deep cuts and hits, i left the show feeling a bit disappointed like Lamb of God blew their show out of the water, id never even listened to them before. That being said Megadeth will always be in my top 3 metal bands and i am going to see them as many times as i can, I'm only 19 so its tough being such a big fan of the older bands because I'll either never get to see them live or I feel like I have to try to see them as many times as I can before its too late because i have already missed out on so many bands.
Never seen them, they never come here so my opinion is that I'm grateful that they are still relevant today as they always were...❤❤❤ love Megadeth
“Washington is Next” is Phenomenal and would love to see it played live.
I seen them play it at the 2nd gigantour
Saw them play it in London in 2007 on the tour for that album not seen them play a single track from united abominations since
@@Tgbandit1989 its a shame. Same with Endgame
United abominations is an amazing album
@@Rugz-smokesame bro. It was amazing
Good Mourning/Black Friday is probably my favorite Megadeth song and it's sad that they hardly played that song live.
I totally agree!!
so fucking good, arguably THE song off that album.
I think the subject is disturbing for Dave, considering he really played with that stuff in life.
But he make distinction and played the Conjuring few years ago
But i think in the early early stuff its challenging to play but i think its to high to sing right now.
@@Nissardpertugiu When he became born again or whatever he said he'd never play it again because of the subject matter. Which I thought was silly but its a pretty famous interview.
@@nwerd7584 Depend your point of view.
I knew people that played with that shit, and its real.
You open stuff that shouldn't be open.
So on that i kind understand.
Even though the music was badass
Damn, I'm shocked that 502 has shown up so few times live. It's such a good track.
Into the lungs of hell is also excellent.
The So Far So Good album is super underrated in general.
@@youngmerc7717 Dave judges the quality of his work based on sales and he'd have to acknowledge Jeff Young, SFSGSW will never get its due lol
@@youngmerc7717 It's the big crime of 1988 Thrash Metal History: And Justice For All: WAY OVERRATED! SFSGSW: Practically an underground album lol. Even Slayer's South of Heaven is more popular.
5 Megadeth songs that would be fun to hear live:
Crush'em.
Ashes In Your Mouth
Vortex
Addicted to Chaos
Never Walk Alone...A Call To Arms
Saw Ashes live in 2013. Wish I was born 20 years earlier so I could catch them in 92 performing some Coutdown songs.
With Nick and Marty, I mean!
Addicted to Chaos for sure 🤘
Holy shit...
@@Rastard12345 I saw that tour in 2013 too. To me, that was the last truly great Megadeth tour. Every setlist since then has been nearly identical.
Looking Down the Cross; My Last Words; Mary Jane; Five Magics; This Was My Life; Addicted to Chaos (it's one of the most underrated tracks ever); Wanderlust; Disconnect; Tears in a Vial; The Hardest Part of Letting Go;...
As much as I love all the Maiden and Priest videos, it's great to have these videos about other bands. I've seen Megadeth 5 times. They never disappoint. Dave sounded great on the last tour.
Believe I saw an interview recently where Dave says “If I can still sing it, we try to play it” Feel for the guy, even playing in D standard and singing gets tough depending on the track. I’m grateful we still have Megadeth at all.
Megadeth have just started performing the title track to The Sick, the Dying, and the Dead at their recent shows.
Yeah, just about to comment, they played it here in Paraguay 3 days ago, it was great since its my favorite from the last record
Oh that's great. I love the new album and was disappointed when the last couple tours only had We'll Be Back.
I met Dave at Frugal McDougal liquor store in Nashville, Tn. A really friendly and gracious person, also with a sense of humor. Glad to see some Megadeth content. I saw them open for Dio for the first time in 80s. Hellyeah!!!
I know that song is way out of Dave's current vocal range, but I would really like to see Foreclosure of a Dream live
There's the Countdown to Extinction Live album (from 2013), if you want to hear Foreclosure played in D Standard with Dave's deeper/raspier modern style.
I agree that Dave Mustaine and Megadeth should definitely perform "Into the Lungs of Hell" as an intro for their live shows!
It's, without a doubt, one of the best intro tracks of the History of Metal itself. One of my favourite pieces of music of all time.
Im pretty sure with the amount of guitars on that song it wouldnt sound the same live or have the same impact 😮
@@CM-dw3gh "Kings of Thrash" played it live and it was awesome.
I disagree only because they play hanger 18 as a tribute to cliff
Dave hates that album for some reason I've never understood.
I'd love to hear "i thought i knew it all" live
Oh nice surprise, a video not about iron maiden or Judas priest. You have a point with Megadeth live wise, so little diversity.
Five Magics is still one of my favorite songs, period...
I just saw this and must say you said it like it is , Rock on!!
Great video, all support to you from Sweden! 🙏
Guns Drugs and Money was played in Milwaukee during the 13 tour...I was there.
I´m about to see Megadeth this Saturday, my first time seeing them too. I just hope they can mix some of their classics not - so - played songs like Good Mourning/Black Friday, and some new ones like Night Stakers on the setlist!
Hope you have a great show! Tell us how it went!
Just woke up! It was amazing! Devils Island was a huge surprise, also Wake Up Dead. Then they went to their safe route and played their best bangers. I also met him on the M&G he is really charismatic and awesome dude!
You lucky bastard 😊. How was the concert and who opened?
Psychotron and Captive Honor are 2 of my favorite Megadeth tracks.
WHADDAYA MEAN LIFE??? I AIN'T GOTTA LIFE!!
Dave doing a "Solo" album is kind of an oxymoron 🤘😎🤘🍻
More Megadeth!!
Haha I'm trying to expand my bands' reach as you can see ;) Will try to post more about Megadeth and the Big 4 overall
This was an amazing presentation of the somewhat forgotten cuts (some I had not heard of to be honest)! I wonder if the difficulty in performing the material might factor in? Not that they avoid complicated pieces, but new material (as in new to the set list) is going to take time, even with the chops these guys have. I couldn't agree more on your perspective. We always like something different, right? I feel like you represent the life and blood of metal. Thank you for your presentations!
Thanks a lot for watch it! So glad you enjoyed it
I'd like to see My Last Words live.
Not very likely to see that one even though that's one of my favorite tracks by them. His vocal range has gotten really bad lately. And not only that, he doesn't have the power behind his voice that he once had. In some recent videos, it seems like his voice is shot
@@robertparker481he's played it live fairly recently and has actually done a good job I was surprised. Kiko looks super concerned when he sings "your next victim" but he sounded good
Hmm... After all, it is 2024 - Youthanasia was released nearly 30 years ago (1st. November 1994) - could it be that they could do it entirely live? One of my all-time favourite albums - still remember the day I first heard nearly 30 years ago.
I would love it if they did, but I fear that Mustaine's voice won't reach the high notes on Youthanasia. And you can't blame him tbh, I mean just look at his age, dude is still killing it
In all honesty, I wouldn't mind it even if they adapted the songs to fit Dave's modern voice
@@MetalPilgrim That being said, I think those would sound even better.
Me too I was in a school bus
Guns, Dru6s and Money was performed live in 2011 and 2012.
And btw, Look Whos Talking and Last Dying Wish are bonus tracks from Dystopia
Yes i have seen Megadeth 3 times in the last 24 months with the last time being in Louisville Kentucky at Louder Than Life and yes i will see them on their upcoming tour again. As a matter of fact i will not miss another show of theirs within a 300 mile radius of my home. Dave broke out the ole “Hook In Mouth”tune that he hadn’t played live in over 10 years. What a treat that was. I have a pretty bangin video of it on my youtube channel if you’re ever bored and wanna check it out.
@@wildcalcats Common wildkitkat Megadeath stinks.Compared to Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister megacrap is in the toilet
@@mikepiccolo32
Damn you really are dumb aren’t you , nimrod 🤣🤣🤣
I will love if they play the peace sells entirely
Hey man, been watching for a while & finally remembered to hit the sub button! I also love "Into the Lungs..." That album came out just as I was getting into metal & it will always be my favourite for that reason. By the way, will you be covering the Kerry King record when it comes out? Respect & best wishes from the UK bro 🙂
"Blackest Crow" is one of my favourites, nice to see it getting some recognition.
І дякую за контент ^_^
I saw Megadeth May 2022 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada ..awesome show with Bullet for my Valentine as a warm up , fantastic show 🤘🇨🇦🇺🇦🇨🇦🤘
Correction to my comment it was May 2023 I saw them in Moncton 🇨🇦
I saw them on the Countdown tour with STP opening ( and getting booed) and on the Youthanasia tour with COC (not getting booed) opening, both in Nashville
Would love to listen Poison was the cure,Take no prisoners,The killing road,Addicted to Chaos,FFF,Hook in mouth,Devils island…
Something like a “the forgotten bangers” tour kinda thing.
How can you be talking abut Megadeth and NOT be poitical?! A tremendous video. Excellent coverage and clear knolwegde of the subject material. Great stuff. Thank you for posting!
On a different note, I have no idea at all how you can produce content such as this under the circumstances your country is being held to. I wish you safety and a swift end to the conflict that your country neither invited nor wanted.
Thanks again for another informative video
Thanks a lot for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Psychotron was performed in chicago during the countdown tour in 92 at the uic pavilion
It's understandable that Megadeth hasn't played those deep cuts live for a long time since Dave lost his vocal range years ago and can barely sing anymore, let alone sing their earlier material which has more high notes.
I think that’s just what happens when bands get a large catalogue of material. Dave was never a great singer. But he was great for Megadeth. He needs someone in the band that can help with some of the tougher vocal parts .
@@timg185 that's why i love metallica's 2-day no-repeat live setlist they're doing today. they're doing a song from every album and even non-album songs such as whiskey in the jar. i hope megadeth does something similar, even for a one-time event
Superb video!
I have seen Mary Jane played Live not recently but on the Countdown Tour in Sanbernadino
Addicted to Chaos is one of my favourite Megadeth songs, I would love it if they played it live
Time (The Beginning and The End) are awesome songs. So is The Doctor Is Calling
Check out setlists for this new crush the world tour. much more diversity in their setlists, it seems kiko really was holding their playlist down
I would love to see some World needs a hero songs live... but we have Rude Awakening. The second best thing.
They have played insomnia live. A friend and myself saw them at Brixton academy on the Risk tour. They opened with it.
David Ellefson is doing his Bass Warrior tour which includes some Megadeth deep cuts like Bad Omen and Lucretia. Was nice to hear them live.
I was at the Avalon now called House of Blues was cool. Cryptic Writings came out. I've seen them. Then the next time I saw them they let the fans pick the songs on the set list. Every state they went too. They played Blood of Heroes and Architecture of Aggression. You had to go on line and put what songs u want them to play.
My wishlist from those years album could be Good Mourning/black friday, Liar, Lucretia, high speed dirt, The killing road & 1000 times goodbye from TWNAH.
For KIMB, I prefer their these boots cover anytime over Anarchy in the UK.
wow...nice review of Megadeth 🤘
Hey Brother from Idaho USA 🙏👊 I have listened to Megadeth for a very long time. I like the old/ "classic" but must say that the album 13 is very special to me. My father passed away when this came out and I suffered a heart attack the very same day. Also the songs resonate personally. The feeling, Dave's lyrics are powerful. Maybe just to me. So many classics! 44 minutes is a favorite. The video of those 2 insane Americans in full kevlar shooting at the police is nuts!!! Who would wake up and say: "let's Rob a Bank and die today?"!!! Dave's lyrics are always powerful. Anyway peace brother from Idaho USA. Stop by if in the country and I will gladly show you around the area and we can really talk. You are Welcome to our home Brother 👊 you play guitar 🎸🎶? I do and My brother Cory. Let's Jam! I feel for the War in your Country. That is definitely difficult. 🙏💪💕
Set Lists for any Artist/Band of any Genre, are meticulously built, to create various moods (pump up the audience or calm them down) during the Show, much like a Stage Play, or Feature Film.
Mustaines Mother in Law (suffering from Dementia) went for a wander, and got lost.
Discovered days later, in the Wilderness near San Diego.☹️☹️☹️
I wanna hear Elysian fields live so bad😢
I have seen Megadeth live, on January 27,2012 at Mohegan sun arena they played, guns drugs and money.
Saw them last year, and She-Wolf was the only song i wish they played that wasn't already there! i heard all of Rust in Peace when i saw them during the anniversary tour, but she-wolf was the one missing from both times i saw them :(
Guns, drugs and money was played in Colombia on November 2011. Dave even changed the lyrics to "under Colombian skies"
Ain't Superstitious is probably not played LIVE much because it is a Cover Song.
If I recall correctly, Risk was the LAST album they did for Capital Records. And it was done to fulfill the contract
I saw them twice, in the Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings Tours, both awesome gigs, albeit in the 2nd the sound was a bit too high and distorted.
The reference on "I'll be there" has a little mistake, it's not from Woodstock 99, it's from That one night in Buenos Aires (2005). It's just a detail, hope you don't mind ;)
Have had a hankering to hear ENDGAME, live, since it’s release.
I want to hear Breadline live, but I'd also want to hear Good Mourning/Black Friday. Oh, and Back in The Day!
Risk is great album. Like Dave said that if it would have released under someone else’s name it could have been huge. Wanderlust would be like huge Bon Jovi single.
Good morning Black Friday is the song I wish they would play every show addicted to chaos would be one. I’d like to see live.
The conjuring is my favorite song on peace sells!
Promises, it sucks that I never got to see Megadeth live.
some of my favourite underrated megadeth songs:
blackmail the universe, kick the chair, back in the day, truth be told, devil's island, black friday, lucretia, architecture of aggression, ashes in your mouth, foreclosure of a dream, reckoning day, blood of heroes, addicted to chaos, i thought i knew it all, sleepwalker, united abominations, amerikhastan, bite the hand, endgame, sudden death, we the people, 13
I believe "Recipe for Hate .. Warhorse" should have been among their most played songs. And the same goes for "This Day we fight".
3:40
Funny enough, I think it was Chris Adler of “Lamb of God”, who suggested to Mustaine of altering the lyrics to “The Conjuring”.
If Dave wrote an alternate take, which talked about the dangers of black magic, that could be cool to hear.
Saw them with LOG in Green Bay WI 2022, was so great..surprised to hear them do Conjuring. Did they actually alter the lyrics!?? I have to know.
I wonder if they ever perform in Finland. Would love to see them if they do.
Any metal bands performing in Finland this month? I’ll be heading there for the first time April 23
@@vietnamd0820 Well, all I could find with a quick searching was Turmion Kätilöt performing in Kotka. More international bands should be coming over in the summer, like Metallica.
🤘Выдатная публікацыя пра мой любімы гурт. Вялікі дзякуй!!! 💯👍👍👍
Would love it if they changed up the set list and played the first album tracks more
Who doesn't like Into the lungs of hell?? It's great, and great fun to play.
I was sure that the world needs a hero was the album that was supposed to be a solo record
I seem to be one of the few who thoroughly enjoys Supercollider (mine is the Best Buy version with extra tracks), and I absolutely LOVE The Blackest Crow. I never thought I would hear a banjo in a Megadeth recording, but I completely understand if Dave never wants to play the song live. Losing a loved one is its own personal tragedy for everyone involved.
i have seen them many times and it pretty much is a greatest hits show. and i can say it does not bother me at all!!!!
SAW EM IN 2000 HOUSTON. would been nice they played vortex from cryptic writings.
I only saw them one time. But They played all of Rust in Piece and Dave was wearing the puffy shirt from Seinfeld, was pretty rad. It was pre big 4 with Slayer and Testament. But Slayer played all of Seasons in the Abyss. and I missed Testament getting in to the fucking place took forever. I guess it was the tour you showed. I dont remember what year it was, it was just quite awhile ago. 14 years sounds about right. I went to the lowell MA show.
I love me some Youthanasia though. I loved The System has Failed when it came out. Of Mice and Men is a great song.
Rust in Peace is my favorite album by them. Never seen them live. Do they ever do "Hangar 18?"
Hangar 18, Holy wars and Tornado of souls are regular in their setlist. Recently Dawn of Patrol has got some affection as well.
Seen Mega Death two years ago and they were great
Into The Lungs Of Hell is awesome! Personally I would love to hear Sudden Death live
One thing that erks me is the fact that as of late when "In My Darkest Hour" is played, the intro is skipped, and the intro is the best part, in my opinion.
I've seen them last august 3 days after surgery, pitt was fun😂
Brilliant post, enjoyed your comments/viewpoint. Off to listen to some deeper cuts myself now 🙂Slava Ukraini!
silent scorn at least got played over the PA as an outro on the one night live album
They just preformed SDD title track in Lima
One from each album with a bonus pick from E.P.'s/B-Sides:
The Skull Beneath The Skin
My Last Words
Set The World Afire
Lucretia
Ashes In Your Mouth
I Thought I Knew It All
A Secret Place
I'll Be There
Recipe For Hate...Warhorse
Kick The Chair
Amerikhastan
44 Minutes
We The People
Cold Sweat (Cover, but a great one)
Lying In State
Mission To Mars
Bonus: Go To Hell/99 Ways To Die/Kill The King
🤘☠🤘
I personally liked Risk. It was not by far their best album but for what it was I liked it. Plus that album had what I think is one of their best songs. Prince of Darkness is such a great tune.
They are AMAZING in LIVE.. I’ve seen them a few times .. best was MONSTERS OF ROCK in LAKELAND, FL.. actually the when SLAYER recorded their DECADE OF AGGRESSION album with the other 1/2 in the U.K. I don’t listen that much to many of my favorite bands today YET I don’t listen to any bands after.. oh.. it was about $25 for a ticket 😅
Wait I think it was $28.50
Alice ‘n Chains ( who made a$$’s of themselves and nearly got pulled involuntarily to the PIT..I liked them after yet ummm not the best opener) SLAYER.. and Anthrax
Same thing can be said with LOG which is one of the reasons why Chris Adler left. I look at the killedelphia set list and their current live setlist for the past 4-5 years and cry.
Megadeth just included The Sick, the Dying and the Dead to their setlist in Latin America, they played the title track in Lima and Santiago.
David Ellefson's Kings of Thrash plays all of the 80s Megadeth songs!
Slight correction... Insomnia has, in fact, been played live. They've also played Time: The Beginning.
They gotta play last rites/ love you to death!
Mechanix was written before Dave was in Metallica, as were the precursor songs to Hangar 18 and Rust in Peace Polaris.
They've now played the sick the dying and the dead title track more times than soldier on
Looking down the cross is an awesome song
Risk was a good album even though it wasn't there best selling theres some fantastic tracks on it but a couple of track i couldn't care less about but wanderlust ,,seven and prince of darkness are some of my fav megadeth songs
Seen Megadeth live in Sesttle WA around 1990 and then again at Clash of the Titans🤘 in Spokane WA 1991 with Slayer Anthrax & Alice in Chains. Seen tbem since then too butit was never anything like them two
Can’t believe they’ve never played Endgame. That song would make a great opener.
I have seen Megadeth four times. Twice at PNC arts center, once at Yankee stadium with the big 4 and once at MSG with Motörhead. And will I see them in 2024? No.
I was at the Yankee stadium concert…Slayer was the best live performance at that show
Watching this video has me wanting to see Megadeth again, although I feel I’ll be disappointed because I never hear enough songs off Killing Is My Business whenever I see them live …and I have no interest in Megadeth albums after Countdown To Extinction
#RIP Nick and Gar.
I liked Risk. The only album I didn’t get into was super collider.
