I have just bought 1 of them and searched on how to look after these plants, and to my dismay the lengths that gardeners went to were so extreme that when you stated that you let nature look after itself, reassured me that my plant will be ok. Your garden reminds me of how the garden of eden may have looked like! I would love for my garden to look like yours!!! I’m just now seriously trying to work on my backyard and am really overwhelmed. Do you have any advice as to how to get started with the design element of it all. I’m not creative but am willing to work hard! Just feeling paralyzed at the moment as to what to do next. Now, (1) you have the God-given spirit and talents within to accomplish any project that you desire . (2) Get a pad and pen...walk around your yard and determine whether an area is more sunny most of the day.(3) What activities would you like to engage in and where...how much space will accommodate this goal- actually measure the dimensions by walking it out. I actually purchased about 1 bag with about 3 to 4 bulbs from a local Lowes or Home depot ( can't remember which one). But, they can be found ,even one gardening stores. You are such a joy to watch. I live in Southern CA where it gets extremely hot. I have 3 kinds of elephant ear plants on my covered patio. 2 in pots and 1 in the ground. The 1 in the ground may need more sunlight, for it is growing slowly. What food do you give your elephant ears?

Now, regarding your Elephant Ears, one possibility is that the soil is not supplying the proper nutrients for maximum growth. 🤔 Now, do remember that they love lots of water and shady conditions. Relative to fertilization, I've never actually used any. My plan this season; however...in a few days is to apply a combination of composted cow manure, peat moss, and a few hand fulls of plant tone on each set of plants and water thoroughly. Based on personal experience over the past few years and current research ( Americanmeadows.com), Elephant Ears in Hardiness zones 7 to 11 can remain in the ground but must be covered with leaves, straw, etc. to keep them warm. Then, uncover the plants after the last spring frost. No storage in garage required 😄👍! Hopefully, this information is helpful... Take care, Miss Marva

I have just bought 1 of them and searched on how to look after these plants, and to my dismay the lengths that gardeners went to were so extreme that when you stated that you let nature look after itself, reassured me that my plant will be ok.

Your garden reminds me of how the garden of eden may have looked like! I would love for my garden to look like yours!!! I’m just now seriously trying to work on my backyard and am really overwhelmed. Betty, before I give you some tips on how to begin , please let me express my wholehearted gratitude for your gracious comments! Now, (1) you have the God-given spirit and talents within to accomplish any project that you desire . (2) Get a pad and pen...walk around your yard and determine whether an area is more sunny most of the day.(3) What activities would you like to engage in and where...how much space will accommodate this goal- actually measure the dimensions by walking it out. Finally, do not give in to fear of not getting it 100% perfect..

Quite IMPRESSIVE name 👌 🥰...soooo I definitely had to reply upon reading your charmingly wonderful comment 😀! I actually purchased about 1 bag with about 3 to 4 bulbs from a local Lowes or Home depot ( can't remember which one). But, they can be found ,even one gardening stores.
Anyway, they will rapidly multiply exponentially! I absolutely appreciated your taking the time ⏲️ to write to me and have a FANTASTIC week!

You are such a joy to watch. I live in Southern CA where it gets extremely hot. I have 3 kinds of elephant ear plants on my covered patio. 2 in pots and 1 in the ground. The 1 in the ground may need more sunlight, for it is growing slowly. What food do you give your elephant ears?

Now, regarding your Elephant Ears, one possibility is that the soil is not supplying the proper nutrients for maximum growth. 🤔 Now, do remember that they love lots of water and shady conditions. Relative to fertilization, I've never actually used any. My plan this season; however...in a few days is to apply a combination of composted cow manure, peat moss, and a few hand fulls of plant tone on each set of plants and water thoroughly. We will see what happens 😄...

Based on personal experience over the past few years and current research ( Americanmeadows.com), Elephant Ears in Hardiness zones 7 to 11 can remain in the ground but must be covered with leaves, straw, etc. to keep them warm. Then, uncover the plants after the last spring frost. No storage in garage required 😄👍!

Elephant ears are called tender perennials ( zones 8 to 10b) for warmer climates; normally they are dug up before cold temperatures arrive.
Yes, they will grow anywhere and they love water.

Now, my location is nestled in the midst of neighboring Southeastern states ...Zone 8❤!

Goodmorning Carolina Gardener🌞! Just between us... I have not applied fertilizer directly to these plants. But, I did prepare the entire bed using by utilizing lots of compost/ cow manure, peat moss, and decayed leaves,etc. Now, I am curious to see what they will look like this 2021 season 🤔😀...
