I'm impressed with LV lately. Their high horology pieces are my dream/grail watches, and this piece is just lovely. It's unfair to consider them simply a "fashion" brand any longer.
Agree strongly with you on this one. This is an excellent example of fine watchmaking with a large appeal. I really love the gold two tone holy smokes.
That really isn’t a dog, more of a floor sweeper. Regarding Louis Vuiton, I’d be happy to wear a quality watch from this brand. This particular model is too large for a well tailored suit and a little ostentatious for casual wear, but the execution is very good. I’ve seen elements of watch snobbery from previous comments and LV is regarded as a quality, luxury brand since 1854. It is not a fashion brand!
After visiting Louis Vuitton I was impressed with their watch making and I liked their attitude to style and design plus they are just cool. The Tambour's case back and micro rotor is brilliant.
I love it. I love that a Louis Vuitton product is actually more understated than some competitors from major watch companies. IMO, it's a s super stylish design - one of my favorite all-gold watches.
I like it, particularly the movement and the bracelet. I think the steel model is a decent value in the lightly used, like new secondary market at around $16k, but the gold is just way, way overpriced. Nice video guys!
The steel at secondary pricing is around 15k brand new. That's a good price. The gold is just way overpriced, though not many are available on secondary so maybe there's still demand. I would love to have picked up the gold at around 35-40k (similar to the large Santos gold model).
If this was made by an unknown brand or a newcomer it wouldn't be anyone's watch of the year. The reason these guys (and others) love it so much is due to the fact it says LOUIS VUITTON on the dial so everyone still knows you spent a load of money on it.
Don't be so sure about it. As a watch lover I loved the design of this watch and would love to pay what they ask for it to entertain it on my wrist if only I didn't HATE the brand itself so much. If it was from an unknown brand I'd more probably buy it. I can't see myself, though, paying a dime on an LV product.
I disagree, i couldnt care less about LV and i love this watch. You could also say that the only reason people hate the watch is because of the name on the dial.
I don't mind the watch being from a fashion brand. I have a BLVGARI Octo Finissimo and I love it. It's a beautiful horological piece and the design spoke to me. The Tambour, though beautifully made and the movement is gorgeous, lacks a little something (for me). If I had 19k burning a hole in my pocket, sure --Id scoop one up...but I think something is missing in the design. I love the Octo because it's simple, elegant, and made by a team with profound respect for horology. No doubt, the LV watch team has the same respect but it just doesn't tick that box for me. Cool piece though. Point being, fashion brands are catching up and taking the watch game seriously which is AWESOME
Louis Vuiton really isn’t a fashion brand as it has been a luxury brand since 1854. They may not have been making watches that long, but their quality products have been made for some time. It is only recent decades that the General Public perceive this brand as a fashion brand, which it isn’t!
I like the watch but can not get over the fashion brand thing. And i already have VC Overseas that would compete with this watch. Other than the brand, there is nothing wrong with this watch at all
Well, I didn't think I was going to like this, b ut loved it, really liked the 'B' roll, and especially looking at clothing with watches. Would I lay down 60k on a solid gold LV watch, not a chance, Just way too much, I can't see these selling, as people with that sort of money, will not even look at LV. I think you two however are great, so please more!
This, along with the American 1921 and the Cornes de Vache, will always be the grail pieces that I am resigned to only admiring from afar, and trying them on every now and then at boutiques. Damnnnn. The very fact that I class the Tambour in the same group as those two tells you everything that I feel about the Tambour.
Don’t get me wrong It a beautiful watch but the only way this would make it into the collection would be if I was able to buy 60k watches like I now buy Casio.
I would probably struggle to buy a piece that costs that much and it doesn't have the pedigree of PP, AP, VC or even any of the high end independents. Just my 2 cents worth though, might just check how much these things sell on the 2ndary market.
@@weezkidtubewhen you look at the pedigree of the guys who did the movement on this thing, you'll understand it's a bit of a dark horse. You may have to look past the brand name first though.
On first impressions, I like the aesthetic. Slim, classic, sector dial with vintage cues. The first association I made was the VC fiftysix (particularly with the blue/steel of Russell's), and that's no bad thing. I think I could live without the lettering around the case, but it looks unobtrusive enough to not be a huge issue. Taj is exactly right, watches (particularly now) take on the role of outfit accessory in addition to tool etc. That's a great thing. I love to see more people dressing a watch with an outfit. The movement looks good, with a solid pedigree. The finishing seems spot on. The dial and branding aren't garish or over the top. I guess the biggest question is: would I wear it? Unequivocally yes. I'm almost hopeful that people keep hating on the brand so the secondary price of the ganache and gold hits rock bottom.
t the prices they are charging for these i wouldn't consider it for even a second, so many other options from far better-established watch makers out there.
I don’t understand why people walk themselves into corners like this. Unless you just have something against the Arnault family why not just evaluate a watch on its merits?
It's a fantastic watch. But, LV is synonymous with the monogram logo being plastered over all their products that scream look at me. For that, I'd never explore LV as a brand I'd buy into for myself. Buy those that are attracted to the brand that lack a bit of imagination, I'm not sure they'd spend £18k for a steel watch or £50k for a gold watch. They're going for a Rolex. Overall, I have no idea who'd buy this.
This is also not likely to be someone's first watch. You have to go through the more obvious brands first before you fully understand what LV and the Tambour offer.
I see LV pushing into the watchspace, as there is little left they could ecpand into. I also appreciate the effort to put forward and ACTUAL watch, but it will be the same as with Hermès and not for me and many others. But I'm sure some will like it. If I see someone with a Tambour in the wild I will probably just think "what an idiot" XD
strange cause If I spoytted one of these in the wild. I would go straight up and start a conversation knowing that its highlu likey the wearer knows exactly who they are.
Not sure I understand why you are showing a watch next to a distracting fabric wristband that doesn’t go with the watch at all. I don’t judge anyone’s taste in fashion, but for this review videos, in my opinion, it would look way cleaner and less distracting if you only show the watch on your wrist….
If someone has money to waste on a LV watch, more power to them. Never in a million years, I could get a darkside of the moon and omega dress watch for less than this pos. Yall are wild 😂
Louis Vuitton is a brand that's put itself squarely in the mid market for fashion. Long gone are the days where it was an aspirational brand, indeed it's almost gone the way of the 90's Burberry. And they've done it on purpose. They created mass market products and are a bit of a more expensive Abercrombie but with a longer history. Their foray into the watch market of late is no different. Poor quality watches aiming to rinse more out of people that buy brand rather than quality. Expect to see those watches on people dressed head to toe in whatever waffle is the latest 'in' thing bathed in one of the horrendously powerful "I'M WEARING LOUIS VUITTON" aftershaves or perfumes. And the prices 🤣When you're at the same price point as a Royal Oak you better be delivering something special, and these aren't special.
To say this is a poor quality watch requires more qualification Im afraid. What park of this watch is poor quality. Cause Ive worn it several times and shot it on multiple shoots and at no stage was there anything remotely poor quality about it.
I'm impressed with LV lately. Their high horology pieces are my dream/grail watches, and this piece is just lovely. It's unfair to consider them simply a "fashion" brand any longer.

This watch felt like a real statement of intent from LV. Placing themselves, unequivocally, in the watchmaking conversation

Its a very good looking watch!
But that pricepoint is something im not willing to do considering other options.
I still think its eye candy

Understated? Is that a misspelled word? 😂 🤣
An awesome watch. LVMH agreed their movement needs better finishing. There coming though!!
Yeah I think so. Let’s wait and see
Love the Bond-esque intro music
Ahhhh nice someone noticed. Thanks!
That beat up World Timer looks awesome.
It's lovely, one of the best modern Pateks around.
Hilarious intro! I like the idea of sports-dress watches: hard to find in practice. Would I go Tambour- possibly. Great video, chaps.
Rainy Friday in London: Yes please! 😀
Louis Vuitton watch: No thank you.
I like it, particularly the movement and the bracelet. I think the steel model is a decent value in the lightly used, like new secondary market at around $16k, but the gold is just way, way overpriced. Nice video guys!
Secondary pricing is always interesting to look at for these things. Will be worth keeping an eye on over the years as the model evolves.
The Tambour is a nice watch. I think I may prefer the Speedmaster in Moonshine Gold.

I disagree. It's a nice watch regardless which brand name is on the dial.
Agreed. If it weren’t at least partially true, everyone would be gushing over a Mido All Dial since it has generally the same case and bracelet.
I disagree, i couldnt care less about LV and i love this watch. You could also say that the only reason people hate the watch is because of the name on the dial.

It's a branded watch. I'd stick to the main Swiss watchmakers.
Watch nerds should reject these brands and stick with their own, unless they have already bought into the whole luxury brand lifestyle elsewhere.

I will never own a watch that is under LVMH's ownership. Hats off to those of you who don't mind though.

Well done watch, I admit, but WAY over priced in steel. Plus, for me, the Louis Vuitton label makes this a hard no.
Give it some time. This is thier smart move into watches that are far more timeless in design and targetted directly at the conisure
Lovely watch and great styling! Unfortunately the uninspiring etachron regulation system is giving me eta 2824 vibes rather than real high horology.
